Hi slambo, I don't have time to watch the track tonight but the biggest problem people have is not actively lasing the target. I'm not referring to the laser arm switch but the actual lasing button. It's the same as the nose wheel steering button. Start actively lasing when the bomb is about 12 seconds prior to impact. You can also set it to auto las in the DSMS menu under the specific weapon. If you are already doing the above, I'm not sure what could be going on.

Hope this helps.

Welcome Slambo, and cquail to the Forums!

To add on to cquail's post, in the earlier versions the Latch Function in the TGP CNTL page was set to Latch ON by default. It is now set to Latch OFF by default.

To access the Latch ON/OFF go to the TGP and switch to A-G Mode, and then hit OSB 1 for CNTL and it will bring up the Control Page. At OSB 8 you will see LATCH OFF, press OSB 8 to switch it to LATCH ON.

The Latch Function basically toggles the pressing of the Nose Wheel Steering Button (Insert Key) from acting like a toggle switch when set to ON, and an active only when held button when set to Latch OFF.

Latch ON =When you press the NWS button the laser fires, and keeps firing until you press the NWS button again.

Latch OFF= When you press the NWS button the laser fires, but stops firing when you release the NWS button.

So to sum it up, drop in CCRP Mode, the higher the altitude the better (>10K), and watch the Time To Impact TTI counter in the HUD left side under Airspeed, and when it reaches 12-10 seconds until impact, press the NWS button and lase the target until impact.

Hope this helps.

What's weird, is I have set the autolase and sometimes I go back to the screen and it's changed back to default. I have tryed the pinky switch but even there I didn't have luck. I will admit I didn't think of 12 seconds.

The most frustrating thing about this is I am a fan of sims like this but.. This sim is frustrating and fun as snot at the same time, I just am having tons of trouble with the LGB's, JDAM's. Headspace has some of the best tutorials on YouTube but even when I go thru them several times step by step there seems to be something I am either missing or I'm just dumb.

What I'd really love to see is a split screen video with a hotas and A-10 playing then you could see.

Anyways if you watch the vid, see what I'm doing wrong it has to be something totally simple, usually always is.

Thanks

Also the laser doesn't work if you haven't slewed the pod away from a slaved point. Make sure you don't have the bigger crosshair in the pod picture...it changes to the smaller ones once you've slewed it.

I watched your track, I could be wrong, but are you setting the target your locking on to with the TGP as your Sensor Point of Interest with TMS Forward Long? I know back when I was having problems with LGB's that was the ticket for me.

Hope it helps

I personally do not use the Autolase function, I prefer lasing myself.

Make sure you see the flashing L in the TGP when you hit the NWS button, and try not to fly as to mask the target from the TGP

Are you possibly selecting the weapon with the DSMS store page? Because that way you are selecting the store, not the profile, which you had set the settings for. Se HUD as SOI and use the DMS left/right to select the wanted weapon profile.

EDIT: Oh and on top of setting auto lase = on, you also have to set the lase time before impact for the weapons profile.

Hi, perhaps You dont turn "on" Laser and wrong do marking of target.

See this tutorial for GBU-12

It is in Germany but I hope its very helpful video for You.

Ok I tryed this,

(1) Latch is on, Autolase is on, Profile is set to 8 sec lase.

(2) Tracking target in "point mode" I push up on TMS Long. (even tryed the Keyboard (Up + LeftCntrl)

(3) In CCRP 12,000 AGL, timer starts when Im within 4.0nm @ 20 sec dunno whats going on with this part shouldnt the timer star sooner or farther out

(4) LGB Bomb drops around 3.1nm

(5) LGB never wobbles just floats to some random spot.

Could this just be a glitch with my settings in the game not letting me set SPI? I have attached a screen shot of my HOTAS bindings.

Is the laser firing? You can tell because the 'L' will blink. Post a (short) track.

A10 is slow- that's why it doesn't drop until almost overhead.

Based on your post- not watching the track, yet:

It appears to me that you are setting up the POINT track, and designating it as SPI. When the TTRN starts to drop- you are holding the WEP RLS until LGB is clear- You MUST be doing something wrong with the laser.

I'll guess that you did patch, yes? There were issues with the LGB's.. but I'm not certain it's the same as you are describing...

Going to load the track....

Be sure that this gets saved. I noticed that sometimes, although I press save, it gets back to the initial profile setting.

One thing that stood out- can't hurt:

In the GBU 12 profile page- change the HUD display to CCRP. It's CCIP by default.

Also- you switched to an external view- so I can't see what happened with the laser. Keep in mind that the external view of falling GBU-12 is porked- at least in multiplayer.. Not sure if that's related.

It would be nice if you set up this run further back so one can can confirm you have set the ship as your SPI (HUD symbol), and zooming in on the DSMS when you are messing with it, so we can see what you're doing.

Do not trust the AUTO LASE function (at least not in this build). I switched to manual lasing to make sure everything is done right. Like everybody said, make sure the blinking "L" is in the TGP.

8s auto lase time might be a bit too little for the bomb to steer to the target if you don't release it spot on. For drops from angels 15-20 i usually use 15 seconds.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Nah, if you use it correctly there's no problem with it.

In the track he has the steerpoint as SPI. There is the diagonal line coming off the SP box, and the bomb drops overhead of his intended target and ~1.5nm from the SP. 20 second fall time at 280 kts is going to be just about 1.5nm.

Maybe you aren't holding the TMS forward long long enough. Also be sure the MFD with the TGP shown is the SOI before you do that. If successful, the diamond on the HUD representing the TGP target will have the line coming off it and you will see TGP in the lower left corner of the HUD.

Also I don't think you need latch if you are autolasing...not that you cant turn it on anyway.

Keep it depressed until you confirm in the HUD/TAD that the SPI has moved from the steerpoint to the target.
