I like this comment.:D

we had on our disposal multitude real helicopters and theirs pilots,

some staff flew portion of these helicopters themself

some members of staff even took flight training for pilot licenses on helicopters

we even built our own helipad next to HQ building, to have copters close as possible

Actually the FM has been improved since the public beta test and they have had actual pilots comment on how to improve it. So in your opinion whats wrong with the FM? Even Arma2 OAs FM is ok by me and that is quite different to FSXs FMs.

Oh no no no, lol, I wasn't talking about my experience, I don't even own ToH !

Last, and only, time I've played it it was the first version of the community preview. You can be sure if I had put my hands on this game this topic would be flooded with pictures and videos :p

But...yeah...too much work lately...

I was just expressing my opinions regarding several feedbacks I've read on the internet.

I know I'm talking out of my ass here since I don't own the game and the only reference I have when it comes to helo sim is...Search and Rescue 4...:noexpression:

But I was reading some posts on SimHQ about addons and people were wondering if there will be payware addon à la FSX. As a long time ArmA player I was like "wtf, why would we need payware when we have this incredible community ?!"

Of course nobody knows if ToH is going to be as prolific as ArmA regarding addons but if it is, in less then a year, ToH is going to be a completely different game, probably one of the best heli sim on the market.

In short I was just advinsing people to be patient, not to judge ToH too quickly because what's avaible so far is just the tip of the iceberg.

...

What the hell m I talking about, I think I should go to bed.

ps : thanks for the link Dwarden !

All this FDM talk is fine but theres so much more in my mind that could/should get some attention.

I remeber seeing an old VBS promo training movie where the emphasis upon multiple crew occupants in a chopper was being simulated with virtual reality. Ive no idea of the correct terminology so ill say the Lift guy was coordinating with the pilot out the side hatch to land the bird on a carrier deck due to his increased visibility and situational awareness.

Functionality like that is what id like to see come in TOH. Not just pilotage. i also remember there being signaling simulation to land the birds on carrier decks. etc etc id like to see more joint operations in varying contexts.

btw i have a major visual criticism. the loss of the close range texturing over & compared to the arma2 scenery construct is seriously dissapointing. it looks like FSX, horrible unless your at height. i really hope you sort that aspect out. i presume its a performance implication that leads to the loss of one of the texture ranges seen in arma2 when transitioning to height. now im wondering if via modding we can add some better close range texturing...

save the guns and violence for arma3 !

im not sure I like the way they made the clouds. Its not that its bad but when I first noticed it, I could not stop noticing it hehe. The way the change when I move my head (more noticable with TIR). Its not a bad thing its just a bit like when you notice a scene in a movie thats obviously not supposed to be thier, but you cannot watch the film again without seeing it hehe.

I do look forward to the full release and I will play with the editor soon, I used to make missions for the original OFP but im sure its all changed hehe.

please try avoid comparing ARMA or TOH with VBS

first are games for fun the second is serious game, training simulation

the cost difference is also major and resources and technologies also (which mirrors in the cost)

so while we aim to have realism and simulation factors in the games

it never can equal the serious game simulation training pack of the VBS serie

read bottom of this page, described in details

http://www.ripten.com/2011/10/28/ripten-interview-take-on-helicopters/2/

in short, increasing ground and visual fidelity to and beyond ARMA 2/OA levels would mean enormous increase in size (we talk about GBs to dozen GBs more)

thanks for the response sir, I didnt expect it to be quite as it is. but i understand your take on it. we all love visual dexterity after all... but at the end of the day it has to run adequately. However i welcome more gigabits dwarden. Surely if you guys can make it happen. an after release pack of hi rez textures for those willing and inclined might welcome the further attention. And in relation to FSX im sure your aware of the many many many gigs of addons that get run there. especially scenery with hi rez texturing and hi rez DEM,s etc etc.

within the modding aspect i would personally like to try create a smaller game arena in size and head towards a little more of what has been seen in arma2/OA. maybe a 15km x 15km range scenery.

Any chance of a boxed version being released on Amazon or somewhere? I just like having the box.

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

Grabbed it at release and completed the career mode. Quite enjoyable, though it felt a little awkward coming from the Ka-50. Heck of a lot more difficult flying without the fancy auto-pilot and only 1 rotor disc.

Can't really speak for the accuracy of the flight model, but some things felt a little off, and some of the feedback I've read seems to support this. Also feels like it's a little light on content for the price it's going for, but it does come with a powerfull editor and plenty of people around who know how to use it.

With some proper support from BIS and the community, I think this could go a long way and really grow into a very nice chopper sim.

At least untill you try to land. :music_whistling:

But yeah, rarely changed it from that channel. Very nice.

:D. Weird thing is, I swear my hovering abilities improve when I have that channel on.

Here's a landing demo by a RL pilot:

Flown it a little bit. Impressions are:

Great Graphics.

Crappy FM. (This is just an opinion based on my experience with Black Shark).

Seems that when a company cites the need for balance between realism and game play in a simulator it usually translates to a poor dead feeling FM like this one.

Likely will not fly it any further.

I'd be honestly (but positively) surprised if they can really pull off a decent flight model.

The video of the start up procedure made me facepalm, unfortunately.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

I like what BI is trying to do. If I had the money and gave a damn about aircraft with rotating wings, I would buy it! Any company willing to put in real effort to improve realism and make real updates to their software (not just bug fixes) wins points in my book.

According to at least 2 confirmed RL chopper pilots 'that I know of at least' they have not.

And as this is a dedicated helo sim/game whatever, that is simply unacceptable IMHO.

But I believe they are working on it, I hope anyways.

Personally I want as close to reality as I can get, but alas am ignorant, so I must stalk these 2 on the BI message boards.

When they are satisfied I shall follow suit.

Not going to lie I bought this game thinking it was going to have hifi FMs, but that's my fault for not reading up on it more. I am a victim of my own ignorance again, and I know it.

Everything else was great though.

Many of the FM parameters can be tuned via an xml file, though that would not make it like EDs AFM. I generally miss the feel of mass in ToH(Arma Engine).

ToH was rushed to the market. The have the helicopters with undercarriage but you can`t make a rolling taxi with them yet...

Oh man, slingloading would be so much fun in BS.

There is slight difference between DCS:Black Shark and any other helicopter simulation. BS is a study of just one machine. Any other sim (FSX with optional HTR, XPlane, TKOH, EECH) are platforms that supports multiple, different helicopters. You can't avoid some simplification. That's why I think that any comparisons between BS and other sims are pointless.

Beside, TKOH was never advertised as in-depth simulation. It's a game with simulation touch, and it's pretty good for what it does.

Well, the FM and the general feel of the behavior of the helis spoiled the game for me. You certainly have a valid point and I have should known it better, before buying it. I tried all the CPs before and played the beta and I had high hopes for the full release, though so many small things are simply not right. Take the views as an example. How should one make a slingload without looking out of the cockpit? With that crappy radio assistance? Outside view? The MP is buggy and they recently disabled winch ops, because there are to much problems with it in MP.
