I was kinda sitting there the other day thinking of a few things to increase realism in the game play... I do not own DCS A-10 so I don't know if these were added.

1. Give trees collision models, kinda stupid you can just fly though them and nothing happens.

2. Make the trees destroyable, If there's a tank chilling in the brush and you drop a Mk-84 on him, that whole area should be completely leveled.

3. When hitting buildings with light weapons, such as guns, rocket pods, etc, I think they should add effects that have part of the buildings come off before the whole thing falls down.

4. Realistic damage models for all aircraft, kinda bugs me when I can shred one plane and 59875 parts fall off and with another only 2 or 3..

5. I agree with the whole bird strike thing, they should make modeled birds for in game.

6. Have ground vehicles drive to your plane when you land to rearm/refuel/repair. That would be kind of neat.

+1. I like the idea of colliding with trees and being able to destroy them and the refuelling vehicles.

Out of all of those, the only one I care about being implemented would be the refuel/rearm vehicles. That would make it sooooo much better. The tree issue isnt a problem with me, didn't even notice until I saw it on the forum. And the building thing would be cool too, but would require alot more processing power imo.

What I've done in missions I've built is set up Hot Pits with trucks already there....not the same as what your asking but my workaround...

Nice suggestions!

Tree collision was talked to death when Ka-50 was released, and the Ka-50 needs trees even more than A-10C. It is for something that is needed and something that ED is aware of.

I agree with all the above except the whole "bird strike" thing. To have it happen once would be interesting, but after that its just another way to destroy an aircraft. I have enough to worry about from small arms, shoulder-fired missiles, Sams, air to air missiles and more importantly my own incompetence. Having my multi-million dollar aircraft downed by "Daffy Duck" sucked into my intake 1/2 mile from the target area would drive me effing insane, or rotor strikes on a Berkut eagle, Jesus life is difficult enough, if you're going to program in random death and destruction, why not add wire-strikes, lightning strikes, heart attacks while in high G turns, the list is endless.

Unless some nation straps a Sparrow on a pigeon and trains it to dogfight, I say just make the birds eye-candy.

I remember that, didn't they say the frame hit would be to bad?

I know this is a bump but.. anyway

1. If you collide with dropped weapons(AA missiles/Fuel tanks) They should do damage to your aircraft

2. When weapons/fuel tanks are dropped, instead of just going through the ground, either explode or make a dust cloud.

3. Make a 3D mission builder. (ive seen this brought up before)

That would be nice to have that, but I think I have seen someone get killed by there own bomb before. This was a long time ago, back in FC1 I think.

Once again, this woul be nice. I have tried to drop my tanks on someone before. You would have to get very lucky to hit them.

Would it really kill the frame rate to just put a big primitive collision box around copse of trees?

No, But this is unsatisfactory for other reasons, e.g. problems with ground AI.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

"Big Primitive Collision Box" is way too imprecise. Hide behind them and have your rotors disintegrate on an invisible object and you'll see how happy you are with it. ;)

Another issue is trees that aren't part of a forest. How will the player know if this is a huge thing he can hide behind or not? And with a primitive collision box he'll be able to see but not get shot... Basically, it's a problem that causes a tonne of smaller problems, so right now it's better to leave it be until the terrain engine can be overhauled or a good tweak is found to accomodate for all those smaller problems.

Well, the question on fuel tanks is: is it worth it?

I don't know exactly how the code works, but I suspect that enabling this would require that fuel tanks essentially operate (code-wise) as a weapon, at all times, and on jettison be treated like a bomb - but a bomb with a variable yield which is something I'm not sure the engine supports. This would add computation overhead. Maybe not by much, but there's a lot of things that "wouldn't add by much" but that would add up to an unplayable game.

Cali I was playing with you on the 104th the other night.

Me and a few friends tried that with the fuel tanks, it went right through his canopy.

That's pretty good if you got the tank to actually hit his jet. I have tried a few times and don't think I have came close.

Oh, I've been hit by my own bomb also in FC2 - dived to hard after a fast release. I'm sure I've the track somewhere saved...

There's no "Overkill". There's only "open fire!" and "time to reload".

My best kill ever was in one of the old Air Warrior games (I think it was Airwarrior anyway, sooooo long ago). Shot down a B-17 through dropping a torpedo on it. :D
