Oh yea, for sure they wanted him alive, that would of been a great trophy for the US, but having him dead serves the same purpose so in the end it works out the same.

I can't help but think that all the leaders speaking need to shift there joy from him being killed, to him being stopped.

 

They keep saying (paraphrasing) "we are glad he's been killed/died". This sounds rather to inflamitory to me, surely "we are happy that Osama Bin Laden has been stopped, killed in an American action to capture him".

 

Going to kill him with a bomb or a missle is one thing, no chance of taking prisoners, going in with soldiers gives you a chance to take someone alive.

 

Talking about killing OBL seems a little pot calling kettle black.

 

Still at least (they say) they gave him a respectful burial inline with his beliefs. Taking the morale high ground is a good idea. And with him being "dead" (let's start the conspiracy theories) he can't be put on trial, if he was on trial all sorts of people would be inline for kidnapping (and worse) in an attempt to get him released.

Well he had to be buried as soon as possible according to tradition and im quite sure a mullah has made sure that all rites where followed to the letter.

 

If not for any other reason then to make sure that no one could blame the US for disrespecting islam.

 

Buriel at sea prevents followers later to mourn at his grave.

 

And im quite sure DNA, dental and any other tests have been taken care of with great thoroughness before the burial.

 

Of course this won't prevent conspiracy theories from blossoming but that is another matter.

Theres no way anyone wanted him alive it would have caused an enormous amount of kidnapping kiling and whatever else in order to get him back. Hes dead and gone thankfully but i just hope there is some kind of evidence because this will be met with a lot of doubt surely?
