I am also having problems with this, well at least until I started running High Scenes and High visibility settings. You can see it affects all textures at that range (field Boundaries) and looks pretty nasty.

I've managed to fix the blurry field boundaries by adjusting the "fieldFarDistance" setting in High.lua to "fieldFarDistance = 200000.0;"

edit: heres a screengrab of my settings, notice i've also edited my "distanceLevel0" to "distanceLevel0 = 200000.0;" but mostly look at all the settings under "distanceBlend" in this pic

Thank you, thank you. I'll be sure to give this a try. I was beginning to think I was the only one who noticed/ was bothered by this.

I've also discovered that these edits fix the blurry airfields at long distance, a nice bonus.

Nice, thanks again. Looking very sharp. I applied the Field settings to my medium.lua and it looks good again. I might try out some of your other settings in my Medium .Lua too. Or make a custom one, I believe you can do that now.

What does "distanceLevel0 = #" do?

Do you notice any FPS hit when using these settings?

I believe that distanceLevel0 is the key to the texture sharpness, like some kind of threshold for when the ground noise texture kicks in, all i did was move it further out so it's not as noticeable anymore.

Thanks, I'd rep ya but it wont let me. :/

I've revised my settings, lowered most of the values down to a more sensible level of 100000, image quality remains very good :)

EDIT: just tried 'noise1back' setting to 40000.0, looks amazing!

@Mustang, you can push noise1back higher.

I'm running 60000 and only very distant textures are unclear.

Thanks toby23, but running at 60000 is too high on my end, at that setting i start to see an abrupt transition or tiling of the noise texture (watch this video in full screen and at highest resolution to see what i mean)

if i drop it down to 40000 its perfect for me, its a seamless transition of textures :)

interesting... thanks for the video and for the info mustang.

what gpu do you have and what resolution do you fly at?

Ya, that last change is even better, looks so much better than the ED have it. I hope they take note. As far as I can see Noise1back has little effect on performance but massive effect on visual quality. I'd be interested to know the reasoning behind crippling it.

Thanks again for investigating this and posting your findings! I was really bummed with the gfx changes in 1.07.

Some else for you to try: in High.lua i was messing around with the renderType setting on line 74 and found that if i changed it from the default "simple" to "texture" theres a better overall FPS....might be placebo at this point i'm not sure, need to experiment more

I tried the change in post above and I can't tell any difference.

Yeah maybe, but it must be affecting something...try the Instance setting, on my end it makes it so all the buildings are drawn only when you're very close to them :D

I noticed no more glitches with:

HDR - OFF.

SHADOWS - MEDIUM.

TSSAA - OFF.

I've cpu (I7-950) and gpu (GTX-570) both oc'd (cpu@3,8-161bus and gpu@850clock-2100mem-1700shader)

Peak temperatures: CPU@76C° - GPU@80C°

Steady 70-80 fps, basically everywhere at low level altitude.

I got cloud reflections doing some weird stuff. Is this a known bug? If not, anybody know some tweaks on my end to resolve?

I added a short track so you can see what I'm talking about.

I get some random water splashes in 1.1.0.8 when flying low and the gun is selected, but I'm not firing. Also noticed weird ones (delayed and on wrong places) while actually firing on the water. Is this a known issue?

Attend to a clean install of 1.1.0.9 and see if issue persists.

Just in case anyone else is affected, I just thought I'd post an update. After being extremely irritated by this and being unable to resolve it, I rang up the GFX card vendor who seemed certain it was a fault with the card. It was RMA'd and (after 28 days!!!) I got a replacement. The good news is, the issue is resolved. The card is a Palit nVidia GTX 580, 3GB.

The problem I was seeing was intermittently I would get flashing black triangles / lines. It seemed to get worse the more graphical options I turned on. The strange thing was that it only happened with A10C. I had played other graphically intensive games (e.g. Crysis 2) without a single glitch, and didn't see a problem with any other of my flight sims.

"The only other thing I see, is flickering in the cockpit? Like spikes and flashes? I am trying different settings? I will update my Nvidia driver to 275.33 ( just out whql)"

I am also getting this since the patch. I will try your suggestions out later (I am also overclocking so will try that also).

However, I did want to ask whether you ever (before patch) saw a similar effect when looking at the engines (especially from inside the cockpit). I've had this for some time, and it seemed to be related to shadows and HDR, but I was never able to eliminate it completely.

I have exactly the same graphics card as you, btw.

Here's a screenshot of what I was getting. It doesn't really do the issue justice, since there was flashing and spiking and it could get a lot worse than this.
