Darkmater Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Quick question: since steam version of DCS A-10c is not updated to 1.09 yet, can I use my steam DCS A-10c key to activate the 1.09 full download from the DCS site?

Moggster Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Aww rats! I wish I had read this before I installed the steam version! Does anyone know if it's possible to have the steam and the 1.09 DCS download on the same PC. Or even uninstall the steam version and then run the 1.09 DCS download version? No problems there - can have multiple installs on your PC. Just download the 4 install files and run the .exe to install non-steam version. Moggster Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 (edited) Great stuff Viper, TBH I'd rather have a non steam version if possible. Steam always seem to be slow with patches for certain games for some reason. I'll download the DCS version now methinks. Thanks for your help and the welcome. A mate warned me it was a tough simulation to get into, but I'm up for the challenge. I told him that I had mastered Blue Max on the C64 so how hard can it be? :pilotfly: Edited July 31, 2011 by Moggster 'Any new pilot is still dangerous. I still remember Airwolf on the C64 - no mean feat negotiating that whirly-bird :D Jest aside - it can be intimidating at first I suppose. Depends on your SIM backround. One thing is however certain - you'll get there. Do not hesitate to ask questions etc etc - we're all more than willing to help or point you in the right direction. Moggster Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 Well I've played Falcon 4:AF and the SSTSIM Concorde (amongst others) for FS9 so I think I've got a good foundation for complex sims. But only time will tell. I remember someone making a rather good rampstart guide exe program for Falcon 4 so you could practice ramp starts without going into the sim itself. Is there anything similar for A-10? 'Any new pilot is still dangerous. They know just enough to get themselves in trouble. ChrisIhao Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I do have bunch of games on Steam, but frankly when it comes to games that apply mods and such (like when using touchbuddy, helios etc) I think its just as well to have non-steam versions installed. If not, be sure to turn off auto updating in the actual steam app, as it may "fix" whatever you have changed in a worst case scenario :) My system: Win 10, Amd Ryzen 3700@stock GTX1080 Ti, 34" Asus G-sync ultrawide monitor, Ipad Air, 32 gigs of 3600 ram, complete CH HOTAS setup, Oculus Rift CV1/Trackir5 and a Saitek Quadrant Been simming since the Commodore 64. Moggster Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Awesome to hear, thanks for the response much appreciated! DM, it works a treat! I've downloaded and installed from the DCS site. The game even recognised the fact my key was already installed. No more out of date game...result! 'Any new pilot is still dangerous. They know just enough to get themselves in trouble. Warthogger Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 How to use Steam key with DCS installer.... Quick question: since steam version of DCS A-10c is not updated to 1.09 yet, can I use my steam DCS A-10c key to activate the 1.09 full download from the DCS site? I wonder how exactly one goes about this process of using a Steam issued key with the DCS 1.1.0.9 full installer? Do I have to first deactivate a Steam installation before doing a full DCS install? Thanks for any info!
Moggster Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Warthogger, with my steam version still installed all I did was download the DCS 1.1.0.9 installer files and install them in a separate directory. I then deleted my steam version from within the steam library. 'Any new pilot is still dangerous. They know just enough to get themselves in trouble. EtherealN Posted August 1, 2011 Posted August 1, 2011 Correct, if you have the game activated allready (through your Steam install), the procedure is simple: download, install, play. Moggster Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Is there no issue updating the Steam version yourself, or is there and ETA on the steam patch yet? To be honest with you, I've never been able to update any steam game manually. The version it was showing on my pc was 1.1.0, so I assumed it was out of date and downloaded the DCS version. EtherealN Posted August 2, 2011 Posted August 2, 2011 Steam version is 1.1.0.8. Splash screen in that version only shows the first three digits. (An oversight that was corrected with 1.1.0.9.) Ghost72Rider Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 Hello everyone ... I took A10c STEAM ... The downloaded version is 1.1.0.9? or is the previous version? TNX :music_whistling::doh:
EtherealN Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 The answer is in this same thread... Reading it means less questions and no waiting for answers. ;) Steam version is currently 1.1.0.8. No ETA on when it gets updated (I don't have a clue, I just test stuff and police the forums). Download from digitalcombatsimulator.com is 1.1.0.9.
