WildBillKelsoe Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Hello again, After so much campaign losses (including BS), now I'm getting bored with A-10c. I'm seriously considering an uninstall in favour for BS.. I kinda like how things are complicated for that Rusky pilot with the Red Star on the helmet, than the Yankee doodle slow pigeon... if you catch my drift :D :helpsmilie: Anything to try before leaving?? I cant keep up with the campaign, losing after 4 or so missions done cleanly (100%).. My ego is tarnished... Unless I play for standoff distance, my wingman keeps getting shot down, tank platoons seldom reach objective points in one piece (like the entire tank force of russians get to hide under the textures like BF3's Op. Metro M-com campers)... Modus operandi is seldom changing... In other words, you complete the mission with same tactics followed, ultimately the campaign as well.. Nate--IRL-- Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Personally I find playing through the missions in order, from the ME, much more fun that trying to do them inside the campaign itself. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading

WildBillKelsoe Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Yeah.. Well, here is the thing.. I will try the campaign one last time, but before I do, I need you guys to tell me, the normal sequence for mission dominion.. Not all missions are alike, but Achilles heel for me is the support advance type mission. I honestly did it once at a 100% by total annihilation of the entire russian tanks, but there has to be another way to it.. I mean how do you operate the course of such missions. An HQ interdiction is far easier, you get past, search for those trucks, Mavs loaded and itching for slew, you get it... Someone from ED should create a modus operandi for flying each mission type. It doesnt have to be uncle Sam's top secret Desert Storm classified macho real life tactics, but rather the ways of completing each mission type. To be on the same page, take for instance the drop bridge mission. Like: In Bridge drop missions, you're expected to go in once air threats have been neutralized. You should have at least one MK-84 or GBU-10 loaded. You should have the wingman engage air defences, while circling around the suspected target positions, you can create markpoints for prospective targets (targets you'll have the honor of engaging once the coast is clear). Alternately, you can have the wingman takeout the bridge and your task is to support him by eliminating hostile air defences. To look for air defences check the RWR and slew TGP for that direction. Alternately, use the TGP LSS function.. this is my one way of getting pesky jobs done, waiting for SEAD and CAP to hit the mattress clear of bugs before we crash in.. Boberro Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Flying online gives much better immersion. Your response after this should be better, however if you don't like slow GheyTen uinstall it and play BS :) Personally I find A10C not as attractive as Ka-50 has been, when it was released, so I understand you. parxuk Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Agree with noc, especially on the support missions where 2 platoons have to get to their objectives, i have no idea what i am supposed to be taking ou so i try and obliterate everything red on the map, before pressing f10 and telling them to move out. The other day i had killed practically everything bar about 2 tanks, gave them the order to move, and before i knew it the 2 platoons had been nearly obliterated, cant they fight for themselves? I quickly had to take them out before my hard working killing everything else was wasted by my tanks being lost. I havent worked up the courage to embarass myself online yet! Grimes Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Donno why you'd want to uninstall it when both games can be installed at the same time and play without issue. Perhaps you can simply wait for that compatibility patch.... convert the A-10 to a Ka-50 and have at it. Not sure how well it would work, but it could be fun. Pyroflash Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 I am having trouble understanding. Why would there be any change in performance for either games? They are completely independent of each other. If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.
WildBillKelsoe Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 (edited) I am having trouble understanding. Why would there be any change in performance for either games? They are completely independent of each other. Look. I had Arma 2 , FSX, Patrician IV, Silent Hunter 4 and UBM, and all werent exactly on terms... I noticed FSX beginning to slow down FPS. Arma 2 somehow overheats my laptop, so I've had this HP (my brother's) and it died.. I paid for him and got eventually my own laptop. For the Bajillion time: VPCEA16FA by sony. RAM is 3.2 Ghz and GPU is 1GB dedicated. I dont want to fry my machine as well.. Call it an elastic strength. I noticed removing some programs, regular cleanup and defrag, it gets better. Hence my worry. The laptop can handle less processes (mine at least 520 corei5 2.40GHz processor with Sony overclock to 2.93Ghz. I'm not even touching either. Call me a technophobe.. element1108 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I'm on a lappy as well, for me I killed off fsx (too much space, modules I couldn't take full visual advantage of.) I recently deleted Cliffs of Dover as well until they fix those issues. ED sims stay on the HD at all costs. (but that's just me). I've been playing since beta and it's still my go to sim when I get some time to play. Not really sure. The choice to fly the missions is yours, and flying online with a squad is the greatest a10 experience IMHO. I actually don't even bother with the campaigns. User created missions and a squad with tactics, chain of command and specific human roles to fill. It's amazing what a GCI can do or immersion, squad air to air refueling and a human airborne JTAC. It's a deep ocean man, explore a bit ;).
Smokin Hole Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 As someone who has flown sims since the eightees let me say that this is the normal course of things. You play one for awhile then give it up for an old love. Then you come back to it later and its all fun and new again. Don't ever erase anything unless it was pure garbage from day one.
Arclight Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) Quite. 2TB filled and counting. :D * oh right, for those missions, if it still matters: I get to FENCE and orbit, clear in SEAD and CAP, search my target area and mark targets. Once SEAD has been at it for a bit, I go in and kill what I marked, order wingman to continue once I run out of appropriate ordnance (ussually still have the CBUs strapped on, only really usefull against AAA). With target area clear, I clear other CAS and the ground forces to advance, switch to guns and go hunting targets of opportunity while they close the distance. Can try calling in to JTAC first, see if they know of anything left to hunt. Have a look at the TAD too, to see if other flights are targeting anything close to target area. (you can see their SPI on TAD, hook it, make SPI and check it, "steal their kill" if you want) Only way I fail those missions is by getting shot down. Lane Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) I don't understand what is all about.. well it's your time, your want, your desire. if you want to play BS for a while, play BS, if you want to play A10 and then revert back to BS2 .. do it.. Both are totally different experience on flying.. both are good for me. I have both installed, im not a good BS "learner", i know a bit better A10, i enjoy someday play BS, sometimes it#s more A10. Imagine if i start make a post each day about it. Today i have play 2 hours on BS, and then pass to A10 ... im an happy flying man. Anyway, if your question was: " will i enjoy it ? " i will say offcourse, but you will even enjoy it more with the BS2 graphism ( similar to A10 now ) Edited November 9, 2011 by Lane - I7 2600K @5.2ghz ( EK full Nickel waterblock ) - Gigabyte P67A-UD7 B3 - 8GB Predator 2133mhz - 2x HD7970 - EK Nickel EN H2o block - 2x Crucial realSSD C300 Raid0 - Black Widow Ultimate - X52 -TrackIR 5 - XIfi Titanium HD - Win 7 x64Pro
