Cowboy10uk Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Well just completed my first mission on the deployment campaign, ok it's only a fam flight, but despite running on higher graphics settings than my A10 could ever wish to, this runs smooth and silky. The feeling of flight is second to none, actully feel I'm working with the aircraft rather than against it. Sound is just mind blowing. ( If ed's new A10 patch next week, gets A10 running as well this , then I can die a happy man :) Only one complaint. Why oh why did this come out on the last day of my leave. Just gone back to work today after a month off. Bugger what bad timing. ;) Keep up the amazing work Cowboy10uk [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Fighter pilots make movies, Attack pilots make history, Helicopter pilots make heros. :pilotfly: Corsair 570x Crystal Case, Intel 8700K O/clocked to 4.8ghz, 32GB Vengeance RGB Pro DDR4 3200 MHZ Ram, 2 x 1TB M2 drives, 2 x 4TB Hard Drives, Nvidia EVGA GTX 1080ti FTW, Maximus x Hero MB, H150i Cooler, 6 x Corsair LL120 RGB Fans And a bloody awful Pilot

WynnTTr Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 It's good stuff. While it's A-10 graphics it's a different experience when you're flying closer to the ground and slower. Effects are nice, shadows are nice, cockpit is nice. I can't remember how sharp Ricardo's HD pit was but this new one certainly got a "nice" factor from me. Sound is awesome, menu screen suits my eyefinity 5760x1080 and best of all it works for eyefinity off the bat, no lua editing needed!
Bulletstop Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I have been flying for the last day and all I can say is awesome. I do not get as good as frames in 10c but it is smooth flying, no stutters and it looks beautiful. Good job ED, you have me flying the Shark again. titanium Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I was a bit upset about how BS2 came out but it really is nice and well worth the $20 upgrade. After spending some time with it, I noticed that once a vehicle is destroyed and burning you see little secondary explosions coming from the reck. Awsome! I am the alpha and the omega

andysim Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 rockets seem to have an awsome new explosion effect hehe. Maybe it was already in the A10c version but they look much improved.

Awsome! First time I blew up an ammo dump in A-10C I thought a swarm of SAMs was constantly launching from there! Gonna have to try to find one in BS2 to see if it's the same constant fireworks show. enigma6584 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Explosions are better, look more real. The smoke plumes from buring vehicles is just awesome...when you look out your cockpit over the battlefield it looks like armagedon. Flight model has been tweaked, wind and such affect hovering...more realistic IMHO. Mission Generator is superb. You can generate random missions anywhere on the map. Mission editor itself and the new AI scripts you can write make for some very interesting more realistic missions by the community. It looks to be a very deep improvment for mission creation. The ground AI fight more realistically and are a much bigger threat to you and your flight. You need to take more realistic care and don't just go flying into hell...they will shoot you down. The map itself is so improved it seems to be almost new. There are actually more realistic contours to the ground, hills, slopes, small valleys, rivers have river banks...very good terrain for a helicopter to fly proper NOE.

Chizzy101 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 My initial impressions have been positive. I've recently upgraded my machine and had been playing the original BS quite a bit, so it's easy for me to compare the two. For me, the installation was a breeze. I uninstalled the 1.02 patch on my original and then installed BS 2 with no hassles. The visuals in BS 2 are a step up and on par with DCS: A-10. All the work in this area makes for a more realistic looking landscape and a more immersive flight sim. In particular, I love the addition of the cockpit shadows, very nice! The weather is another big improvement in my opinion, as are new models (Mi-8 looks good at last!). I like the explosions (stuff continues to cook off after a vehicle is hit) and the way smoke is affected by wind. I haven't noticed any big differences in the flight model of the Ka-50, although wind seems to have a bit more of an effect on how you fly. I haven't had a chance to really test the AI, but both wingman and ground vehicle AI seems better to me. There are lots of little improvements, such as sounds (e.g. sounds added for closing cockpit door, gear transition alarm, fueld pumps etc.) that are nice. The comms menu has also been revamped to match DCS: A-10, but the same commands are there. In summary, it looks a lot better and is up to the visual standard of DCS: A-10. There are lots of little tweaks (e.g. sounds), along with a couple of big ones (e.g. weather) that add up to a more immersive sim for me. Without going into too much arguement, in my opinion it is well worth the $20. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever" - Napoleon Bonaparte

Phazon Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I like it. The overall level of quality now matches the DCS A-10C module, and various things have definately been tweaked and polished under the hood even if its not immediately noticable.
MadTommy Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 (edited) 1st impression for me was.. mehh, unimpressed, nothing but a compatibility patch. Having not flown BlackShark since A10c's beta release..I'm struggling to see this as a new version of BS, as it's simply the Balckshark in the A10c environment, an environment i'm accustomed to and have been flying in for some time now. BS2 = compatibility patch nothing more nothing less. Its great to have these modules nearly compatible, but if you fly A10c there is nothing new in this version like is claimed in the vague description at its release. Happy to support ED with my money.. but not happy in their methods and strategy with information/truth with this paid patch, feel mislead. kylania Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Wow really? Go back and play Black Shark 1.02 then read your post again. You're obviously missing a lot. If you compare BS2 to A-10C then yes, they are the same. That's the whole point. But to understand what BS2 really is, you need to compare it to BS1. Then you'll see how this is far more than just a compatibility patch. Ed should be applauded for continuing to support and improve the DCS environment. As wise business decision. If I didn't own A10c this upgrade would seem great, but having enjoyed these improvements for some time now in A10c, BS2 only feels like the long awaited patch to make both modules compatible.. hence the 1st impression of mehh. Great that they are compatible, just a bit disappointing that i had to pay for them to be made so. Don't forget the series was advertised as having compatible modules from the start, so finally getting what was expected after a lengthy wait and a fee is hardly something to shout about. i5-3570K @ 4.5 Ghz, Asus P8Z77-V, 8 GB DDR3, 1.5GB GTX 480 (EVGA, superclocked), SSD, 2 x 1680x1050, x-fi extreme music.
