Jiminy Christmas. This guy is proud of this. I mean, he should be, but got no clue what it's trying to emulate. Some kind of trainer? For this price, you could "go and buy your own ship!" (Please no "But who's going to fly it, you?" References. You know, Star Wars? Oh never mind. ;) )

Wife probably said to put it on Ebay, but he doesn't really want to sell it. :)

Actually I looked it to this when the same cockpit was on a different site.

Real cockpit, gauges look to be made by http://www.simkits.com/ gauges

and I am not sure what they used for boards. These are made by some company down in Phoenix or Tuscon AZ they all so had other cockpits to choose form but well lets say the price is not realistic

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Ebay Listings:

Well I hate to say it, as it would take me a lot of soul searching to lay out that kind of cash, but It's probably worth that amount easily. Deadman's always saying that this stuff is worth it , and it took me a long time to believe it. But if you think about it, you could easily pay $100 or so for the little instruments and more for the ADI and HSI. Plus they have two for some of them.

Heck, I've probably got at least that amount in, unfortunately. Not that I could lay that put all at once or agree with the price, but you could do a lot worse making it yourself.

Analog ARC-164 (UHF radio) control units. not used in our sim as is, but can be a good source for knobs (the digital one uses same knobs it seems aside of Vol) and rotarys (strange absolute encoders)+ i think the cover. in any case a good demo on how mil grade equipment is constructed. as with all mil equipment they will ship only within US (sorry guys)

i received my pair :D

ADD:

i did ask for a cleaner one, but boy did it give me a struggle getting opened. even with wd40 the set screws in knobs did not want to turn. what was supposed to be 1/16th allen in my cheap harbor freight set was actually less and slipped immediately. custom grinded hex did the job. I will be looking at set of high quality precision allens to have for future.

I tried using an F-4 Phantom backup compass in custom van, and it would not work with the metal in the car.. aircraft instruments do not like auto dashboards.. and I am not getting into electronics that are sensitive and need to be tuned in Faraday cages... :joystick:

Definitely happens. When I was a mechanic at Delta, we had to adjust the compasses away from terminal, (they usually have a compass rose painted on the tarmac in the middle of nowhere,) and we would have to adjust it with a brass screwdriver. A pain, but necessary.:)

Here is an C-6280A(P)/APX control panel (IFF)

You can not build one for this price a perfect example of why you should be able to use real panels in your cockpit.
