small update

 

Comm radio wired in and working in DCS, Nav radio waiting for more rotary encoders to arrive.

 

Below is a picture of the facia, it will be painted and fixed in place eventually, but for now just dropped in to get a look of the W.I.P :)

You had mentioned in an earlier post that you were going to use leododnar boards for your interface.

 

I was curious as to how well that worked for you. I am using some U-hid boards by Ultimarc and I have had all sorts of problems. As a result I am looking for other boards to replace the U-HID boards. At the moment I have 2 boards running 70 odd switches and 8 pots. You can see my pit at http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=105524

 

I would appreciate your assesment of the leobodnar boards assuming you have them installed and running at the moment. I also noticed that you run 5 monitors. Do you run Helios as well? What kind of fps are you getting with your rig.

I am only using one projector at the moment, but when I did run more than one I did run helios without a problem.

 

I like leobodnar boards, they are easy to use, and not a bad price

 

button box which has 32 available buttons

 

and

 

BU0836X 12-Bit Joystick Board which has 32 buttons and 8 analogue inputs for axis

 

both are great boards and I have never had an issue with them

As I understand it, if you get multiple copies of the same board, you should tell Leo that you need him to assign unique names to them (so the computer can differentiate between them).

No not required with LB boards as far as I know.

That facility is if you want to use his boards in your own products and want them to show up as something other than his name, e.g. show up in the computer as XYZ SIMs etc.

 

He will do that for orders more than 10 from memory.

Small update, Wired and tested CDU all working, however as the CDU has 46 buttons I am looking and saving for a usb board that can hold all 46 buttons. If anyone has a suggestion please post :)

 

Also saving for a screen, but it is not my priority at the moment.

 

I am still looking at other real world instruments to use in my pit, when I have finished looking or buying I will paint up my left console :smilewink:

Apparently, it depends on what software you are using.

 

As metalnwood remembered, they eventually went to a scheme of only offering it on larger orders.

I think that's going to be difficult unless you start doing some akrakadabra stuff.

Windows has a limit of 32 DX buttons, that's why it's going to be difficult I think.

I am sure I have seen a board on here with 50 inputs, was it brydlin or someone, I will do a search later, in the middle of training wardie on the 27 lol

Hi Bignewy,

 

Brydling card can do 256 digital inputs (shown as 128 DI on one controller and 128 DI on another controller). I use it and I am very happy about it. It is true that Windows can't show you more than 32 input, but Helios will be able to show them as 128 DI on two controllers.

 

Found this in an earlier search to go with the Arduino, but mind you I haven't tried it at all so I do not know how it works.

But this guy is building a F-15 simulator and looks great:

I like the look of the arduino option, but messing around with code puts me off a bit.

 

Going to have a good think about my options

Assembly of DIY-kit: 270 SEK

 

830 Swedish Krona equals 82.66 British Pound Sterling or there abouts, not bad considering how many inputs you get from it
