ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 18, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted September 18, 2012 I have become a big fan of the portrait setup having had normal ones before, it gives a great eyes down view of the cockpit while still maintaining the hud view. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 20, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted September 20, 2012 Thanks Laurius for the kind words, my next project will be working with the Arduino board and the LED's / 16X2 lcd on the UFC. I am a little out of my depth with that but I hope to learn from others who have been working on similar projects on this forum :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Laurius
You're welcome Bignewy You are probably more advanced than I am, and I agree that there is a lot to learn from the experts posting here. I seriously consider going from my desk pit (pictures added in my profil yesterday) to a more realistic one for the A-10. I know it will be a long way to go... ED Team BIGNEWY Posted September 21, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted September 21, 2012 (edited) depending on where I am in the sim average around 25 - 30 fps but I have capped mine at 40 anyway its smoother without the FPS spiking I get some big hits on some airfields and urban areas, but its fine for me I never expected to be in the 60+ gang :) Edited October 2, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 13, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted November 13, 2012 (edited) Still playing around with my pit, always tweaking. I have changed my left and right panels so they are generic with most aircraft and adjusted thier position so they angle towards me, nice to be able to use the toggle switches with FC3 ;) all aircraft are click-able lol right hand panel is a temporary one as I ran out of black acrylic lol Edited November 13, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? 112th_Rossi
Very cool. With the monitors, do you think it could be possible to remove the bezel and have the LCD matricies side by side so there is no plastic obscuring the view?
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted November 13, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted November 13, 2012 not possible with my DELL screens as the buttons are built into it, but I don't notice the bezels when I am flying, you kind of get used to them. Of course if I had the money I would have gone for screens without bezel's but everything here was built on a shoe string budget :) Forum rules - DCS Crashing? RpSPT
How do you feel about the screen setup? Are the bezels in the way and why do you prefer this style over horizontal setup? If you had more vertical height in your monitors would you use them in horizontal way? Something like 30" 16:10 monitor/s in horizontal setup would be good but too expensive imo. Three 27" 4:3 monitors might be interesting but doesnt? exist atleast in consumer market.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted December 1, 2012 Author ED Team Share Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) I have got used to the bezel's and do not notice them But I have decided to go back to a landscape set up, as I am doing more A2A with Flaming Cliffs 3 at the moment. The portrait set up was great for ground attack as I had more of a top down look, but having a wider horizontal view for A2A makes more sense. I would love bigger screens as well, but everything here was saved for and built on a shoe string budget :) A few pics of my screens again and my eldest son playing far cry 3 lol Edited December 1, 2012 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
