Congrats dude.

Happy flying.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Awesome-here's to an IFR in the near future.

I do indeed hope to get my instrument rating in the near future, depending on finances, time off, and spousal permission, of course. ;)

Thanks! I am a member of the NAS Jacksonville Flying Club, so I've been flying out of NAS Jax (KNIP). It can be a little intimidating sometimes to try to share a runway with P-3s and F-18s, though (on the other hand, you learn really quickly about wake turbulence).

Thanks! Found it on map!

AlphaOneSix, I made my PPL(A) from EPDE, which is Deblin airport of Polish Air Force Academy. Taxiways shared with TS-11 trainers, M-28 Bryza, and F-16Cs were visiting us too, and mostly SW-4 type choppers on perpendicular pattern. I am currently member of Silvair club in Sobienie-Krolewskie, EPSJ is my homebase ;)

I am flying today cross country EPSJ-EPPK; refueling; EPPK-EPMO; EPMO-EPSJ :) some vids of EPMO and EPSJ here http://www.youtube.com/user/shamandgg/videos

You can follow my flight today if you Iwsh using http://aprs.fi and search: SO5AGT *sierra oscar fife alfa golf tango, that's my amatour radio on board reporting position live. There is no need to refresh F5 website, it is an app that refreshes view by itself.

This website works and looks great from smartphones too, you may broadcast your track live to your friend and family this way, all you need is radio on board on amatour band with APRS features.

You may still see my previous 12h track history. It will update once I takeoff today. 09:30 UTC takeoff is planned. http://aprs.fi/#!mt=roadmap&z=11&call=a%2FSO5AGT&timerange=43200

This is how my Better Half knows where I am and if flight goes as planned.

That is extremely cool. Especially from a civilian perspective.

AlphaOneSix, I will be in July on vacations in your vicinity and plan to repeat flying from PALM BEACH CO PARK (LNA). I will take a friend from Miami for a short flight, and I wish for a flight to KEY WEST. I have been flying already from LNA to the south and to the west, but without any landings. Just sightseeing beaches and boats. Maybe you come visit LNA on that day I will be flying? :)

That does sound pretty awesome, but I leave today to go to Afghanistan and I won't be back until the middle of August. In fact, I'm supposed to be packing right now, not goofing off on the Internet!

Also, that APRS app looks pretty great. I have been using an iPhone app called Cloud Ahoy, which does something similar:

Good luck, don't die :pilotfly:

Sympathetic aren't you... :D

Good luck with Afghanistan, what will you be doing over there?

Always remember. I don't have a clue what I'm doing

What do you want me to say? :D

"Good luck, hope you don't get too injured but generally survive anything thrown at you by the big bad boys in turbans?" How's that? ;) :P :megalol:

Much better... :D

Mi-17 crew chief/mechanic/flight engineer. I go for about two months then spend about two months working back in the US. Been doing it for 5 years so far!

We operate in several different places, including Kandahar. My last trip was to Kandahar, but I'll be at an undisclosed Eastern location this time. ;)
