Bricks Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 Thanks, Speed, for the insight. However, for us mortals it doesn't matter if the server is down or not reachable by the software we bought, if the effect is largely the same. Anyway, I'm glad this problem apparently seems to be solved in the next patch, waiting to be released. That's all that matters to me. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team c0ff Posted September 9, 2012 ED Team Posted September 9, 2012 The crash was tracked down to a bug in 3-rd party library, which was triggered by a long list of servers. Unfortunately we can't release a patch quickly. Currently, I tweaked the master server to limit the list of servers to first 38 entries (seems to be a safe number) for a DCS version affected by the issue. Yes, it replaces everyone's crashing with some servers becoming invisible, but that's what we can do right now. Please, post, if the issue occures once again, I'll lower the limit. Thank you. 1 Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.

lsgheero Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 So just to clarify if we cancel the initial login prompt. Then change the source to LAN instead internet it will load. (I have confirmed this) I assume that so long as we know the public ip or hostname and the port (pass if required) we can still connect to a internet server right. *I have a server up with a freefly mission if anyone wants to test this out Hostname below.. My server is home.larrybytes.com default port for the game no pass. I will have it online for a few hours.
lsgheero Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 fyi someone named steve jumped in so this works guys.
Daniel M Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) So just to clarify if we cancel the initial login prompt. Then change the source to LAN instead internet it will load. (I have confirmed this) I can confirm that this gets you passed the initial ctd, but if you try and "refresh" the internet list it will(sometimes) ctd edit: Please, post, if the issue occures once again, I'll lower the limit. I'm currently ctding after being ok about 2 hours ago Edited September 10, 2012 by Daniel M
ED Team c0ff Posted September 10, 2012 ED Team Posted September 10, 2012 I'm currently ctding after being ok about 2 hours ago Lowered to 20 servers max. But there's a possibility that it's the contents of the list, not it's length which causes CTD. Then you'll have to wait until we release an update. It should be soon enough. Dmitry S. 112th_Rossi Posted September 10, 2012 Author Posted September 10, 2012 Could be illegal characters in server names causing the crash?
Mosley Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Lowered to 20 servers max. But there's a possibility that it's the contents of the list, not it's length which causes CTD. One problem I seem to have is if the server is not listed on the master list every time I try and connect by ip I get a "Connection Interrupted." So by reducing the number of servers the master server sends me, doesnt this just create another problem if the server im looking for is not on the list? For example... played for several hours yesterday. logged out to change a config setting on the blackshark and guess what... it was off the list and connect by ip did as mentioned above. Isnt this creating one problem to half-way fix another? Does changing the server type to lan help/hurt this in any way? i7 2600k @ 4.4 / GTX 470 1.3gb / 8GB DDR3 1600 / TM Warthog #7440 / Toshiba 37" 1080p / OCZ Vertex3 SSD 128GB / Win7-64 / TIR4
ED Team c0ff Posted September 10, 2012 ED Team Posted September 10, 2012 Could be illegal characters in server names causing the crash? No. Isnt this creating one problem to half-way fix another? Yes, it is, as I stated in my post. However, it's all I can do without releasing a patch. Does changing the server type to lan help/hurt this in any way? The problem arises when client receives the list of internet servers. By default it does so right after logging in, that's why the problem is perceived as "Crashing on connect to Master". Setting the initial list to LAN workarounds the problem, by any attempt to get the list of internet servers may lead to crash. Just to be clear: the proper fix requires a patch to DCS. And while it isn't ready, I attempted to workaround the problem on the master server side. Dmitry S. Mosley Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 c0ff Ill clairify a little more.. When you limit the max ammount of servers shown to 20, and say our server is not on the list because its one of the > 20 that gets cut to keep from crashing how am I supposed to connect to the server??? Connect by ip is always "Connection Interupted." i7 2600k @ 4.4 / GTX 470 1.3gb / 8GB DDR3 1600 / TM Warthog #7440 / Toshiba 37" 1080p / OCZ Vertex3 SSD 128GB / Win7-64 / TIR4
Quax456 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Dear sir's, Just as you limited the amount of servers to 20, I was going to launch my server. And what should I say, it was impossible to see him on the list (propably the 21st?). So, my mates were very angry, so was me. I know it might be hard to hear, but this try by server side fix isn't the best answer. Isn't there any chance to filter bye PING? I'm seeing 3-4 servers somewhere in China (I guess) which nobody ever enters, cause of the high PING. Grizzly1606688174 Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Guess they'll have to release the new update before they planned to, so that the game actually can be played and all. Do it. Tomorrow.
Echo38 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Guess they'll have to release the new update before they planned to, so that the game actually can be played and all. Do it. Tomorrow. Ha! If you think we've got problems now (and I'll admit, we kinda do), just imagine what'd be like if they just said, "Okay, compile and upload, right now."
ED Team c0ff Posted September 11, 2012 ED Team Posted September 11, 2012 You can Connect by IP to any server a long as either 1) server is in the received master list OR 2) server is in the LAN mode GUI has wrong server mode naming: it's not LAN/Internet, but private/public instead. Grizzly1606688174 Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Well im still getting the DCS has stopped working when recieving the master list. So the "fix" that was done yesterday, worked for me yesterday.
ED Team c0ff Posted September 11, 2012 ED Team Posted September 11, 2012 I reverted changes to the master server, because the fix does not work. Please, wait for the update to DCS World (which is currently in BETA, btw). Dmitry S. Baikov @ Eagle Dynamics LockOn FC2 Soundtrack Remastered out NOW everywhere - https://band.link/LockOnFC2.
