SUBS17 Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Eagle Dynamics have done something amazing to the ground units AI!:icon_pray I could not believe it, a convoy of vehicles with a dog ear radar and 3 strelas plus a shilka used to be a piece of cake in an A-10. But now they are a bigger challenge. Sure they shoot down MAVs, ok so I hit em with CBU97s. ok so I take out the shilka with a Maverick no problem. Now normally a convoy either continues on its way or stops at its destination. Not this convoy, a perfect straight line, I roll in to use cbu 97s. (at this stage they had stopped in a straight line) bombs away, convoy advances 100m:icon_eek: . The same happened for each ingress:D [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
cueceleches Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 That´s curious. I started yesterday the A-10 Dave campaign. First mission, a column with T80s, a Shilka and a Strella. I loaded my hog with 6 TV mavs, 2 IR mavs and CBUs...And went for them. I was able to get within 2 miles from the strella and it only fired 1 single SA on my first run...and nothing on the next 2. Same with the Shilka, it never fired a single shot. I´m using Flaming Cliffs patched...
Gazehound Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 @ cueceleches - The behaviour would depend on what the AI difficulty level of the units is set to. No ground units on average are actually capable of hitting an inbound ARM/AGM. Also it dictates the distance the unit can lock/fire upon you. VVS504 Red Hammers
cueceleches Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 I guess I should then set the AI to a more difficult level in order to get this full feature...cool! More intensive simming!
GGTharos Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 The dog ear, or any vehicle equipped with radar makes a big difference as it sends info to the other units in the group much earlier than they would have normally perceived things. Does it work with any unit, or just radar guided AA? VVS504 Red Hammers

Yellonet Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 How do you put CBU-97's on your hogs? I don't think I can :( i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5
plug pray Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Actually, the cbu-97 is the same as the rockeye, but it's GREEN. So i prefer the 97th :D

Guest ruggbutt Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Install the realistic A10/Su33 loadout XML file.
Pilotasso Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Install the realistic A10/Su33 loadout XML file. I had that MOD in 1.1, but 1.11 patch has overwriten it wich makes me suspect its modifyed. Better make a new MOD form the new XML. .
504 Wolverine Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 Here is a fresh 1.11 meinit file with CBU-97's added to the A-10. Just place the unziped meinit file into your C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\ME folder but remember to back up your original one first. [/url]

And...if you really want to make things interesting and different everytime you play the mission...be sure to set the AI level to "random." This rule applies to ground as well as air assets. Makes for loads of fun and challenge.

The Rockeye is dumb, the CBU-97 is semi guided... much more advanced. i7-2600k@4GHz, 8GB, R9 280X 3GB, SSD, HOTAS WH, Pro Flight Combat Pedals, TIR5

S77th-GOYA Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 If the AI is so smart, why don't they get out of their vehicles when they see a hog coming for them? Or at least, look for some cover. AI needs little white flags. :D

Guest ruggbutt Posted October 28, 2005 Posted October 28, 2005 If they got out with white flags, they'd still get a Rockeye up their butt.
