Hi all - I've downloaded the world and I'm about to get the free aircraft too.

My question is; If I was to buy the payware aircraft, which would you get first and why?

I don't have a preference, I'm flight sim and combat sim experienced, and I can fly choppers as well as fixed-wing and I use TrackIR.

Thanks.

It's sounds like, in your case, it would be a matter of preference since you sound like you would be comfortable in any of them.

Personally, I enjoy the Mustang from a pure 'flying' standpoint. If you want something with more 'bells and whistles' along with a significant learning curve, then the A-10 would be the choice.

Welcome to the Forums.

If it's a challenge you're after, I'd recommend the Kamov. Unlike any other rotary SIM you've experienced :)

I would get the A-10c, it's (compared to the Ka-50) fairly easy to get up and going and shooting some targets, and doesn't take as long to get used to the flight model.

The P-51D would be my next recommendation however you're less likely to find multi-player missions with P-51 slots as the Ka-50 or P-51D.

Honestly dont let us decided what you should fly its your time not ours and you have to fly what you find fun. I like KA-50 and A-10C and also the P-51D but if one should asks which aircraft do i prefer to learn, go indepth in tactics etc i would say A-10C at this moment because there is more info avaible about the A-10C then the KA-50 plus I find the KA-50 that is modeled flawed in good defense system and optics. (love the autpilot).

So that said .. if you want to see how a plane should fly try reading books about it. For the A-10C there are plenty books like A-10 in the gulf , kosovo.

...a short description of DCS Aircrafts:

The A-10 takes you up in the air, treats you to dinner, utterly destroys a brigade of tanks, and sets you back on the ground so you can have a nice dessert, have sex with your wife, and go back the next day.

The P-51 ****ing LOVES the ground. While it taxis, it gets all excited and does spins without you even asking it to. It'll even get so excited that it'll fall flat on it's face and break it's own nose. It loves the ground so much, that at the slightest provocation, it will put itself there at high speed. Even when you're trying to put it gently on the ground, it gets excited, hops up and down a couple times, and then breaks the landing gears so you can't put it back in the air again.

The Ka-50 tries to kill you. You get into it, and it's going to try to kill you. You say "alright, a little collective to get off the pad," it hears "LET'S DO A BACKFLIP BITCHES!" **** that thing. I can't help but love it and the feeling that, just maybe, I've tamed it once or twice.

i would start with the A-10C :smilewink:

Thanks for your replies.

Are you expected to do the same missions with the P51 as you would with the A10?

Nah the P-51D is a WWII fighter escort the A-10C is perfectly tuned CAS plane with a TGP (camera with BIGGGG zoom) and designed to huge the ground and deliver 30mm rounds on a poor little tank

Hmm, Mustang doesn't have fancy avionics, so I think it is easier than A-10C. Definitely DON'T choose Ka-50 for your first aircraft, or you will suffer :)

I'd say Mustang or the Hog.

I would get the A-10C first. It's the easiest to fly and the training is properly integrated to get you into it smoothly.

I know I got A-10C standalone first and it was the perfect intro, some of the other sims like Su-25T and Ka-50 might have put me off if I'd tried them first.

A-10C all the way.

I love the P-51D but there's not much to do with it right now, and it's still a beta product.

As for the Ka-50, well, there's a reason there were only about 10 Ka-50s ever produced. :music_whistling:

Well , my reason against the P-51 , is there is nothing to fly against except other P-51's ..... and for a realism factor that doesnt work .

I would go for the A-10C ..... easier to fly than the KA-50 , but avionics wish a big learning curve , and from what I hear more challanging than the 50 .

A-10 all the way .

Don't be afraid of the KA-50 its an awesome platform all over.

And once you get tired of your role as a CAS platform.

Take some smoke rockets whit ya and relay co-ordinates to other friends in the air as a AFAC.

Its the most ideal platform for that.

Works best in a squad environment while using Team Speak.

As for the A-10C, personally i find it a bit to easy and boring.

But that's just me.

The MIG-21BiS made by Beczl would also be a nice candidate when its done.

Believe his intentions are to release this year.

This for sure. As much as I keep telling myself I will learn to fly the A10 more, I always come back to the Ka-50.

More of a challenge to fly? Sure. Less sensors, resulting in getting hit and going "wth just hit me?"? Sure. A basic b/w tv screen for finding targets? Sure. Creeping along a treeline and in between buildings like a sniper, and taking out 3 sam sites that have been lighting up the A10's...hell yeah!

The Ka-50 is a beast to learn, but really rewarding when you do. I also find it is most fun when flying with other fixed wings in co-op.

To be honest, get both BS and A10 though. Will keep you busy, and both are great. Get the P-51 for "playing around" fun if you have the extra cash.

I've loved A-10C. Quite easy to know the basics but it takes time to master the Warthog. Still haven't bored with it.

Ka-50 has less complicated avionics but steering can be found tricky for many peoples. However I do not think so. It's actually great fun to fly it.

a-10c would be the best to start, the training videos will help a lot, the HOTAS layout is easy to understand and get used to, if you are used to flying american aircraft in other flight sims then i'd start with the a-10c then move into the ka-50 or p-51d :-)

PS. you could also wait for Flaming Cliffs 3 to be released and start with that but if you want the full blow experience then start with a DCS aircraft.

You can't have fun like this in a Ka-50.

Under Bridges? Sure you can.
