it don't has to be a "fake", there is a possibility that this happens directly in DCS.

I'm able to do similar things with a layered DDS texture - but As you see :

you can't change your viewpoint - or you will break the "illusion".

Yeah but if it's just "pasted" onto camera viewpoint it's kind of fake

False hopes. So rude!

But let's see the reality with a well-known vid: see how the rain drops vanishe in less than 3 seconds...

Yep, its kinda after effect:

No cumulus clouds (A-10 take off) therefore: no rain

What we see: high alt cirrus/cirrocumulus textures

Atop the midnight tarmac,

a metal beast awaits.

To be flown below the radar,

to bring the enemy his fate.

For all those who are wondering, that is an effect added in post. I have the exact same clip on my HD (it's a clip of real water just going straight down, pre-keyed, meaning you just drop it over your footage and you're done, pretty much. You just rotate it and stretch it a little) and its from Video Copilot Action Essentials 2. I've also seen it used on some FSX movies.

*edit - I was posting on his video, saying "nice use of AE 2 etc", and the guy immediatly posted a comment to my youtube page saying "You're wrong", and now he's spamming my videos with "your videos suck, they have gone down hill since the a-10c video the music is so sh**ty for p-51 and mig -21 bis horrible" etc... Oh well. Guess i should wish him the best of luck in his video endevours! ;)

I agree, you should take your inspiration from this guy. His videos are so much more intense and immersing

Well I hate to derail the topic further, but the guy is really starting to annoy me. He's been using different youtube accounts now, sending me messages on how much I suck, etc, and commenting on videos. So i stopped "blocking" the different accounts and just reported his channel, refering to the original user, which this all originated from, namely this guy on youtube: SensualAlmonds.

So hopefully this kid will just go to sleep, go look at girls (or boys, what do i know) and do something different! :)

Now BACK on topic: Raindrops on the canopy has been on my wishlist for a long time as well, hope we will see it soon! :D

Agreed

Otherwise, his raindrop effect was fairly nice, he used a static (was strange) and a moving effect (seems snowing), - but i dont understand why he did not write:..."and may not represents the final product" or "this video has been edited with visual effects" - it's not shame

I don't know how it works with jets, but at least in my experience with giant-fan driven flying machines, the rain does not look so static. instead it sprays in a series of very tiny streaks that quickly disappear. For a jet going at 250+ kts, I would imagine the effect would be even more so. Like I said though, never driven anything jet powered into the rain.

it's easy to be cocky with several thousands kilometers of "the internet" between somebody else. I guess you know your movies are the best.

So I don´t get of topic... it would be really nice with this rain effect..
