PS: win8 i'm not going to use at this point because it costs money vs win7 that i already have.

You can get an upgrade license for Windows 8 Professional online for 30€ (and do a clean install) ... That's the same price as DCS:Combined Arms ...

Windows 8 actually contains a bunch of improvements for classic desktop users which are easily worth the upgrade. As a desktop user you can completely ignore the metro UI and live on the desktop side. You don't have to log on with a Microsoft account either, just use local users and avoid Microsoft's control over your system.

I would not say this is a lack of concern. Rather it is putting things in proper perspective. I am not afraid that MS will ever have absolute control over my PC because they simply will not. To suggest otherwise does sound a bit alarmist to me and obviously to a few others. There is always a backlash of fear and loathing each time MS releases a new OS.

I'm not a fanatic of any OS. I'm writing this on Win 7, which I like in many ways. Very nice GUI. Just which it had more power and security under the hood, like Linux RHEL, or CENTOS. But this time M$ has gone WAY WAY TOO FAR. And I'm betting there going to pay for it in the courts.

Actually, we have till 2020 for Win 7 support. And I personally don't see much future for Win 8 on a PC ( or for M$ for that matter once the EU courts get through with them ).

Mainstream support ends in about two years, on January 12, 2015. Extended support ends in January 2020 but does not apply to regular customers (= paid support cases only during extended support), except for critical security updates.

But I see some almost technical terms in there for a change.

So can I get explanation on what is it that "power" that you want more to be present in OS. Same for "security" , how many more kilograms of security does MS needs?:) .
