-HiJack: I see, thanks for answering my questions ^^

So, judging from the posts here, It's seems that everyone can download any DCS Module and what people are actually paying for are activation keys?

I'll honestly say, that I'm still uncomfortable with online/digital purchase and have never tried it before... I'd rather buy something that is tangible like a boxed version of a PC Game or so... don't care how long the shipping would take... as long as i can touch the item I wanted.

I guess this is the end of Lock On for me...

Unless I could convince the people in our house to let my use my Visa Card to buy activation keys for DCS Modules.. which is unlikely..

If you are afraid of putting your credit card online, you can go to a major store and buy a prepaid card for your purchase. Just a suggestion.

-Krebs20: Prepaid Cards? How does this differ from a usual credit card? I haven't seen one actually.. or at least here in the Phils..

Well as has been said, anyone can download the module and install it before purchase. Each module has an MD5 hash on the download page which you can use to check the download is complete and there is no corruption using freeware tools like winmd5. If you really are out in the back of beyond, you can download it in parts using a torrent to allow you to take it in chunks.

With the exception of having to re-download if there is a problem, the download is risk free if done pre-purchase and validation tools are used. What have you got to loose? A boxed version is unlikely to ever come so it's this or Lock On Platinum and FC2 until the end of days....

Oh and as for credit cards, if you order something online from one store, what makes it safer than the ED store? Only time I've ever had my card 'hacked', it wasn't the (small model) shop's fault, the buggers hacked into Visa itself....

Yes, the old platinum version is enough to license the FC3 version. You only need to install the LOCKON files but don’t need to run the sim. Install FC3 module and enter the license number for it and you are good to go :D

sorry to ask > what is the difference between announced FC3 and the one ) I bought few days ago?

I'm just guessing here but I thinks its basically the same. The original FC3 aircraft have all been given New Flight models and cockpits, I think. To be honest I haven't played it much so I'm not 100% all the planes have been updated but I do know many have if not all now. (which is why they are now releasing it as a full product.

It also won't need the FC pre-installed to be able to install fc3.

oh and I would also imagine it will be compatible with the Steam version.

But like I said I'm just guessing based on the press release you linked and past talk from ED.

My question is will current FC3 owner have an upgrade path for discount or free.

The real thrust of the announcement is that Flaming Cliffs 3 will no longer require LockOn to be installed. This means it can be sold on Steam and other similar sites.

For current owners it means nothing other than you can now use that LockOn CD for a coaster and move your FC3 install to Steam if you so desire.

So Steam will accept our old FC3 key when it is released?

Not that I care since I gain nothing moving it to Steam, matter of fact I've deleted the Steam install.

However Steam may be faster at updating. I'm trying to update DCSW to 1.2.7 now and its downloading at Dial up speed.

Yes, once ED gets everything sorted out, your existing FC3 will work on Steam.

Cool now all we need is a BS2 upgrade Steam install. I can install it manually and it works but I'd like them all to be easy to install and uninstall from Steam before I commit to it entirely.

FYI

While I wasn't able to add the FC3 key to Steam now I was able to copy the folder to the Steam folder and it worked, I never had to even enter a key!

Same for DS2 upgrade but I activated it in the past and it seems to have remember it and didn't require me to enter the key again.

I now have ALL modules installed and working in Steam.

What is the best way to use my TM Warthog? Do I run Target and load different profiles for different aircraft or is it plug and play?

Whether to use Target or program the controls in game, is a personal preference. I do the former. The Warthog is only Plug-n-Play (with minor changes) with the A-10C. The controls will have to be setup for all of the other aircraft.

Never seen anything like this advertised, so I would guess the answer is no.

You may still ask ED directly (customer support).

----

If that does not work, you will still be able to sell (or give to a friend) you now unnecessary A-10A and Su-25 modules. Licences are transferable. You have to unbind them from your master server account.

Pardon the stupid question (although I believe there are no such things as stupid questions.. only stupid answers..) DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 is different from Lock On Flaming Cliffs right? and that DCS: Flaming Cliffs 3 is not yet released?

I'm now preparing my new Rig for DCS: FC3, perhaps a RAM upgrade to bring it up to 8GB..

Flaming Cliffs 3 is an updated and improved version of Flaming Cliffs 2. It is released, including on Steam, but it is still being updated/improved.

Flaming Cliffs 3 is a module of DCS World so you can install that, for free, and test.
