You got 1.0.0.8 installed?

God dammit man, you are right ... Performance did go down in some parts... :-/

If you look since Beta 4 the gap is even bigger, that's insane.

Some people could legitimately ask for a refund.

I remember I was running the Beta 4 smoothly (40FPS), flying through the clouds without any problem. Then my FPS decreased slowly but surely with every update till the game became barely playable (average of 15FPS). I finally upgraded my pc so I'm good now but still...that doesn't make it right.

Things like nav lights, smoke, clouds have a ridiculously high impact on FPS

Yes. I have a slow connection. And never patched the game until I installed DCS world for the p-51.

So I still have a 1.0.0.8 installed besides DCS world... The difference in fps is huge, and except a slightly different HDR, the game looks exactly the same.

Some other differences I've noticed are a great deal more haze added which makes it tough to pick out images on the TGP and also gives the terrain a washed out, lifeless look once you're over 6,000 ft or so, and unless I put my antialiasing ridiculously high, I get quite a lot of terrain/object flickering that i've never gotten before. What a roller coaster ride this sim has been.

Im afraid that at some point you'll need somesort of an internet connection though, but it can have many reasons why its not. Thats cool.

Some problems are known and being adressed right now like the flickering. Keep in mind that DCS world is intended for 64bit OS, 32bit OS gives memory problems. Do you get any improvement when you follow the next steps?

- Deinstall and Reinstall this C++ 2010 X32 and X64

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5555

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=14632

- Run this DirectX installer

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl...s.aspx?id=8109

- Windows updated

- Drivers fresh and new, reinstallation of drivers when updates from manufacturers take some time

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Logs

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Saved Games/DCS/Tracks/Multiplayer

- Clear files in C:/Users/<windows username>/Appdata/Local/temp (skip files in use)

- Clear files in C:/Windows/Temp

- Clear files in C:/Windows/Prefetch

- Run Windows Diskcleanup, optionaly clear shadowcopys under advanced

- Run diskchecks on all your harddrives

- Turn off scedualed Defragmentation and do that manualy when needed

- Run defragmentation

- Turn off Windows update and do that manualy when needed

- Turn off System Restore

- Turn off Allow remote assistance

- Turn off antivirus

- Unplug any hardware that isnt needed for DCS play or in case of problems unplug everything but one mouse and 1 keyboard

- Restart computer

- End processes manualy that arent needed in the Windows Taskmanager (ctrl-alt-del)

- Run DCS through the shortcuts in the START -> Programs -> Eagle Dynamics, start with single play in through the missioneditor first. Before you start a mission, SAVE it first.

- When problems stay, concider a new DCS download and installation

I can't see how on earth any of the magic placebo moves proposed above are supposed to improve fps.

Clear windows temp? Seriously?

Immel noticed FPS decrease on the same machine, same system, same hardware. How is it that temp files hadn't affected 1.0.0.8 but now they're a problem?

Honestly I don't think any of these fixes are relevant when the real problem is in the code.

The point is, everybody is experiencing worse fps and it's not because everyone's PC suddenly developed overfilled temp folders or faulty hard drives.

Let's not muddy the waters. The problem is in the code and is very real and I for one would love to see it getting some developers' attention.

You sir are correct improvement is needed, still alot of problems can be stabilised bewteen now and when better code is being created.

Understand too that many people with similar systems dont suffer from all these errors and weird crashes constantly and share what they do to keep errors and crashes to a minimum.

But as said before, im providing what i do to keep things stable on my end and with a bit of luck theres something in that list that makes the threadstarters life a little bit better too.

This is about the threadstarters problem and not your personal opinion about ED's products. Theres many places already on this forum where you can voice your opinion.

Thanks for your help and suggestions BrooDJroo !

I really ppreciate it.. But as someone noted, this is not a crash or bug issue.. This is a fps issue, and it is very real..

Under the same exact conditions, a-10c 1.0.0.8 runs nearly 50% faster than DCS World 1.2.2

And this is constant with different drivers... There is definetely a code issue. Right now, world is barely playable in serious missions for me, which is a shame cause A-10C runs fine.

Oh and btw, do you remember my clouds/haze bug ? It's not fault of my hardware or drivers... It's a code bug, that is 100% reproducible on nvidia and ati cards, under the good haze conditions. It has been reported to developers already.

Yes, the HDR bug is confirmed. Its monday in Moscow in a few hours only.

Im not sure if its entirely correct to place a full comparison between the 2 products youre mentioning.

One is a part of the other one thats true, but World is way more extensive. The older standalone A-10C also represents a 32 bit era and DCS world 64 bit. Its slightly going into the direction of comparing apples with potatoes.

What are your systemspecs and OS? Maybe thats already posted in the thread, but while im typing this i cant remember.

Edit: ah damn, its in your bio. But still...your OS 32 or 64? At what clockspeed is you memory running? 1333 Mhz, 1666 Mhz etc. Are busspeeds on your board meeting boardstandards?

Before the last update I was managing 30-40 FPS. Not bad considering my machine. Running GT9600 which was handling it nicely. Now with the 1.2.2 update I absolutly can not play the game. My best FPS is 3. Yes it wasn't a typo "3" So I update the vid driver. Just to make sure. Same result. Nothing Changed. Settings in game and out of game the same. Load time on the MP is unbeleivably long. Even when you get to the logon screen the "connect" Button says "onnect" I haven't added any more modules to change anything here. Using three monitor setup and was working great. Now even with just one monitor it still tanks. So is there a fix for this? If not I won't pour anymore effort, time, or money into it.

This is a problem about FPS problems between the recent version and the previous one.

In this thread the problem is the FPS difference between 2 different DCS products that represent the same item. Im not sure if you want your problem here.

This is where you mixed in in a nuttshell:

ED:

Hey, gamerdudes! We have something new that support next gen hardware about the same product. The older thing doesnt work there so you need to DL this different thing.

Gamer far away in the yukon:

OMG! ED, your something new is different!

You forgot to mention the most important part of the thread and that is that both DCS products are installed on the same computer "at the same time next to each other" so comparison between the two is very relevant and accurate.

Also, i totally agree with Snaut that none of the things you mention as a possible solution to improve FPS gives you even one single frame extra. It's a good thing to keep your system clean but as he said, it are all placebo actions (even the update on the "latest" drivers in 99,9% of the cases).

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Im runnin windows 7 64 ultimate

And honestly I have no idea about my memory clock speed.

What I can compare is two versions of the same game. That feel and look nearly exactly the same, and one is running almost twice as fast.

Im sorry FZG_immel, im more than happy and willing to see if theres some extra performance to be gained somehow under the current circumstances, but society doesnt alow me to communicate with u in a proper way.

Also the utter lack of at least a little form in sense of humor isnt received well and different problems are being crossposted which doesnt do good to your started thread about the FPS trouble you are in.

Therefor i will ignore this thread from now, but if you like im willing to walk through some settings through PM to see if at least some extra performance can be gained.

And for others that might not be that conviced in having a relative stable DCS client at the moment. I wont bend towards giving up on the fact that it isnt possible and everything is crap.

Why? Im very stubburn and also because Mr Immels PC is similar to mine and that 2 relative stable PC's on DCS are standing right next to me. This doesnt mean what i tell is his solution, however its far more helpfull and constructive than ranting aside about personal views that belong somewhere else.

Thank you for your time and reading my mumbojumbo.
