starsky396 Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Right now I am currently using 1.1.2.1 but I really do want to see the new A-10 APU sounds and want to have the latest edition, however... Can I import my old joystick and keyboard command configurations? I heard that there is new commands so I wanted to be sure. Is the "Blue Rocket Smoke glitch" still there? What are the current bugs in 1.2.2? When I delete dcs world will I need to completely reinstall everything? (The A-10, blackshark, and regular dcs world) Will I loose all my missions that I have downloaded over the year? Any chances of loosing my activation that I have used? Thanks for reading this, BTW I have a 64-bit OS, I didn't know if you guys needed to know.

Is the "Blue Rocket Smoke glitch" still there? Yup What are the current bugs in 1.2.2? There's a ton right now, ED is working on them. When I delete dcs world will I need to completely reinstall everything? (The A-10, blackshark, and regular dcs world) Yes 1.2.2 is different from 1.1.2.1 (1.1.2.1 was an old beta version), unless you mean 1.2.1 Will I loose all my missions that I have downloaded over the year? Backup the MIZ Files. Any chances of loosing my activation that I have used? Yes, and No. You may be prompted to Re-Activate, dunno if the issue was resolved yet. starsky396 Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 Well I guess I won't be updating if there are a ton of bugs in 1.2.2. The main turnoff is that I need to completely reinstall the game, with the chance of loosing an activation and the requirement of changing the command configurations I might as well not update and wait for a more stable version. Was a little dissappointed that the blue smoke glitch is still there.
metalnwood Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I am well behind the times with current dcs world, it seems some activation stuff may have changed? Last night I upgraded an it used up an activation telling me I had nine left. I thought previously it would not because I had already had it installed. Anyway, after a windows moment I had to revert to a windows restore from 2 days ago. It left my new dcs install working but used up another activation right away.. Ok, 8 left but I shouldn't run out anyway..

Was a little dissappointed that the blue smoke glitch is still there. Ton of bugs? LOL. The latest version is the best version. Also, adding in the auto-updater with 1.2 fixes were applied, and applied with ease. Also there is not a blue smoke trail bug. There is blue fire, but smoke trail is white. I did not lose any activations. Setting up commands is easy. Also, now with the auto-updater, you never have to do it again when a new update is released. You never have to re-install either. I dont see any good reason to not update your game. i5 3570k @ 4.3 560ti GTX 2gig 8gig RAM Intel SSD Win7 64bit
starsky396 Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 The main reason that I am against updating is that I have all my joystick configurations set up, and I am not encountering any bugs. The only reason I really want to update is to hear the new APU sounds.
Aries Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Don't update... stay preferably on A-10C 1.1.0.9... I heard that way you'll remain young forever... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ...the few, the proud, the remaining...
Rotorhead Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I dont see any good reason to not update your game. However, I do. Beta version of DCSW ran flawlessly on my old system. Then, 1.2.0 came and gave me absolutelly horrible FPS drop without any noticeable visual improvement = absolutely unplayable. Some systems were affected by this bug with no good reason. Luckily, I was in the process of buying a new PC, and the new one was not affected. 1.2.1 was the least harmfull of all DCSW versions. Yes, it gave us a small FPS drop (later fixed by a minor update) and few another bugs, but at least nothing that really broke the sim for me. And now, there is 1.2.2 with the infamous G940 bug... Yes, we all feel that keeping our software up to date using the latest version should be the way to go... but after my previous experience with DCSW, I'm starting to be very cautious about those updates...
starsky396 Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 Well I probably will never run into performance problems, I have 32GB ram, 64-bit os, i7 2600k at 4.5 gHZ, nvidia gtx 560, and a 1200 watt power plant. I think I will wait till DCSW comes out of beta.

ENO Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Single player you're probably fine... I know they say not to do this but regarding your controller profile I basically copy and pasted mine from 1.1.1.1 and moved it over to 1.2.2- there are a COUPLE of little things that I needed to move around because key assignments changed slightly (for example I can't do custom loadouts with right alt + ' or whatever it is... but that's the only issue I've seen so far. Then again, I'm running a TM HOTAS. The guy who said 1.2.2 is the best version ever made obviously doesn't play multiplayer... or does on a server that has already ripped tankers out of all missions and modified the mission options to accommodate a variety of connection bugs. They've also likely disabled the server timeout features, as well as possibly parked their server comp in a DMZ. Anyway- there are bugs-o-plenty... but for me personally it's the MP connectivity issues that are causing me the most grief. The massive FPS hits with the 87s and disconnects resulting from long cannon bursts... 40 miles of civ traffic resulting from bridges that are destroyed that also crush FPS on a theatre wide basis along with an inability to turn it off completely no matter the dance you do in saving the missions... So there is some work to do and it is being done- but 1.1.1.1 MP experience is reasonably complete and smooth and I've heard 1.2.2 7570 provides a reasonable SP experience... and they're stand alone platforms that can be run without modification and save in their own file structures... Might as well update! "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
SkateZilla Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 that reminds me I need to transfer my 1.1.1.1 button and hat assignments to DCSW Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

Doesn't matter to me, I'm not the most social person. Loves me the single player. Right now I am playing with a modified Saitek X52 (I made all the axis for the throttle into buttons. All I really care about are mission-breaking bugs, game-breaking bugs, controller issues, and some certain "eye-candy" issues. Currently I have maxed out every item except view distance.
