agrasyuk Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 They should be MPH in UK, we don't use KPH here, that said all trucks are limited to 58 MPH which makes it a long drive sometimes in that case there must be a unit conversion bug in the game or something. happened inside city limits, the posted limit was 30. if it is in Mph then i should have been within the limit as the in-vehicle GPS that counts in Kmph was below the 48 for sure. Cowboy10uk Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Strange, but this is the UK, so remember its not a case of if you get a speeding ticket, but when. In the 4 miles between my house and the town centre, we have 4 permanent speed traps, and 2 mobile ones. It's just rediculous, so this really is a realistic simulation. :) Not noticed the bug myself. Mr_Burns Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 I dont get these, farming sim, digger sim, they all lack the the element which matters, economics. Farming sim tries but I recon it needs a mixture of AI and the ability to interact to fill your interest. Secure a market, then supply that, get late you start losing the market, competative edge...they are just mediocre simulators with no purpose as they stand. Only worthy of downloading pirate copies to see how crap they are...proof that exploiting the paying public drives piracy, not the internet.

It just so happens that you drive for this company too and have to manage your damaged equipment, Hire drivers, take jobs, play the game and get virtually rich. hegykc Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) The thing is, this is 2013, and if you're gonna call something a simulator, it should simulate real world things, physics for the most part. And in terms of driving dynamic ad physics, this is as much a simulator as 'War of thunder (in game mode) is compared to DCS. Truck physics feel completely scripted to me, especially the vanilla game. And aren't all the different brands represented by the same physical model? Try Rfactor, Iracing or Live for speed And I'm not talking racing here, just for the physics model. Those are simulators of real world vehicle physics. Truck simulator is a very good game. It has a bunch of mirrors so I might be ok with callin it a truck view simulator, but a truck driving simulator it isn't. Edited April 24, 2013 by hegykc www.replikagear.com

I don't think anyone, that has played it, considers it a simulator in that sense. It is indeed a game and taken as such, it is a reasonably decent product. hegykc Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) Well, I did :) (not a study sim, but at least on othe driving 'simulators' level) My bad I guess :) I knew farming simulator wasn't, but I did think that truck simulator would indeed be simulating trucks. But anyway, in terms of games, good fun, especially for the younger ones. Something different than a special forces team killing everyone on sight :) Edited April 24, 2013 by hegykc www.replikagear.com
hegykc Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 There was a game I really liked, and it was called 18 wheels of steel. With a massive rig pounding down the highway. Front cover like some blockbuster movie. Now when you see that, you can go, 'oh cool! A truck game!' If you call it a Truck simulator, with nothing else beside it, it better simulate something! Otherwise where do you draw the line? They could have just put cows in there with no vehicles at all, because... Well, you didn really expect a truck simulator did'ya? www.replikagear.com

agrasyuk Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 Scripted or not I must say I'm really enjoying backing the trailer in. Im already better at it, had couple really good instances without using the external view. Really wish I had steering wheel though . and game to provide facility for a "sandbox" mode where I can couple and uncouple trailers without having to haul them all the way (yes, perhaps a strange request) Anton. pixelpilot Posted April 24, 2013 Posted April 24, 2013 would you beleive that it was truck sim that tipped me over the edge to buy a wheel, all the racing games i usually play are quite content with the joypad. a 900degree wheel makes truck sim a better game. The physics are passable but the management side lets it down. Addictive for a couple of weeks, far from the worst game i've ever bought!
Eihort Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 PCGamer sim of the year, and they didn't knock the physics. I've driven large trucks, and yeah, there's a little off here and there, but otherwise it's pretty close. I really don't see how you can compare the physics to something like a racing game as you can't come close to comparing the conditions. I could see someone knocking the physics in GT5 vs GTR. The high end vehicles in that game do not behave at all the way they should, compared to GTR. However, GT5 still accels in simulating more modest cars.
Cyb0rg Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 Bought this. Installed some mods from http://ets2downloads.com/ The way to install mods is interesting. IMO something ED could implement. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asteroids ____________________________________________ Update this :D
PFunk1606688187 Posted April 10, 2014 Posted April 10, 2014 I burned out hard on this game. At first its very addictive. You spend hours in it. Then it wears down because there's no real depth. Its so repetitive and there's no real skill involved past a rudimentary level. I was really let down by how bland the loading docks are. There's no traffic, there are few other trailers, and there's way too much room so its never really a challenge at all in delivering your cargo. This is the kind of "sim" that needs difficulty sliders and a hardcore mode, but unfortunately SCS are pretty obviously not interested in courting the nerd end of the spectrum. They're if anything trying to go the other way. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Cyb0rg Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Starting to see what you mean. Kinda repetitive. Still i'm amazed with how many mods there are for it. This as example : [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asteroids ____________________________________________ Update this :D
PFunk1606688187 Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Yea without the mods I would have stopped way earlier. I personally prefer the way they scaled the environment in the Scandinavian mod to the default game. Its much more varied whereas the default game feels very same-same, especially on the highway interchanges. If you judged your location on interchanges alone you'd never know where you were. My favourite truck to drive was that Kenworth W900A with the 18 speed gearbox. I still wish that the loading docks had more character. Its a ghost town, and I seriously would get proper frustrated when I'd do a 40 minute delivery drive and realize that the place I was delivering to was literally an empty lot with not even a single other container in it. XD I may go back though, maybe there's a new hardmode map or something. Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.
Valinor Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 You guys should try the trucksim map, it covers most of Europe and North Africa too
Darkwolf Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A friend bought the game and offered me a copy. Damn, that game is really good. I'll surely have to find some mod to make it a little bit harder tho - but i like the way they did it. Any suggestion for mods, beside mps ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] PC simulator news site. runny Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 This is cool. I'm a farmer irl and spend a lot of time trucking too (17,000 km since mid Feb) Funny how I'll be in a tuck looking at flight sims on my phone, and the next guy is in a airplane looking at trucking sims!
