Mule Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 I have been away from A-10c for a good few months. In order to get back into it i have been flying the Smerch Hunt mission. I start up, taxi, take-off and get the coordinates for the first target. I send my wingman to take it out using Maverick from the default direction. He runs in ok but about 4 or 5 miles out just says "rejoin" and comes back to me without doing anything. This happens on all the targets in that mission. Can anyone help? I hope its me being a dumbass because its hard to finish these single palyer missions without help. Fighter Pilot Podcast.

Yurgon Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 For me that's typical AI wingman behavior, and I haven't really found a way around it. One hint I seem to remember is that the chances of the wingmen attacking the assigned target increase if you're within a certain range of the target while issuing the order. I think it was 8 miles or less.
snafup Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Yeah the wingman is a source of frustration for everyone. Just getting through an instant action mission can be a task. I've done everything to get the wingman on target. It's hit or miss whether or not they engage targets.Brodcasting spi sometimes works, being closer sometimes works. I've told them to engage with whatever, and to just engage. Normally now i wait till they report back with targets and then tell them to engage. If I'm lucky they will roll in , if i'm really lucky the won't get shot down doing it.
cichlidfan Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Unfortunately, the most effective command to give an AI wingman is RTB. Indeed, one wonders how this guy has managed the academy and what moron entrusted him an A-10C... I bet the father in law of this guy has an influential job in the Air Force. :wallbash: :D:D:D

Mule Posted February 24, 2013 Author Posted February 24, 2013 Thanks for the replys. Yep the AI is weak at best. I managed to get him to blow stuff up later on in the mission after a few goes but it was all a bit of a gamble tbh. Gonna have to get back on multilayer. Fighter Pilot Podcast.
chardly38 Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 You can try adding a 3rd wingman. For me the 3rd wingman calls out targets faster the 2nd wingman. Give it a try.
