westr Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 It's not really dual cockpit control that is the issue (that is actually solvable). It's the utter behemoth of a complex aircraft that the F-14 is. So in your honest opinion Nicholas do you think an F14 in dcs is something we are unlikely to see? I think, initially, it's more realistic to expect something in the vein of the standalone FC modules. FC Level cockpit/systems modelling (or just beyond) with a PFM. This, additionally, frees up development resources for the creation of an AI system to take over RIO duties. Flagrum Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Well alrighty then! I stand corrected... I thought dual cockpit code was the holdup on multiple modules and was the cause of several of them being delayed... ?? HUEY I am looking at you! LOL "solvable" is not the same as "solved". ;o)
outlawal2 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 "solvable" is not the same as "solved". ;o) True! But if the guys doing the coding say that this is NOT the holdup then I am going to take their word for it... They ought to know... Thanks Cobra as always for the frank and informative response! "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
SkateZilla Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 "solvable" is not the same as "solved". ;o) Build 1 Large Cockpit with Seat Jumpin' Capability similar to the UH-1H and MI-8. :music_whistling: When you switch to the rear seat, Autopilot will take over. When you're in the front seat, there can be an external script/dll coded to make a "Ghost" AWACs with a Callsign that moves with your aircraft. and call out targets to you similar to RIO. Multiple Seats in MP haven't debuted yet, even on the UH-1H or MI-8. You know having RIO duties undertaken by a.I would not bother me. In fact I think it would be great I know a lot of people would want an F14 where you could sit in the back and flick all the switches and untimately so would i but if only the front seat was modelled I think it would still be a quality simulator offering plenty to entertain, naval ops etc, certainly if it had an AFM which would be no mean feat for an f14. I guess there would have to be a good interaction system between the pilot and the Rio where you would request the Rio to perform certain duties. But I guess I'm getting well ahead of myself I'd imagine all that's some way off Edited July 14, 2014 by westr RYZEN 7 3700X Running at 4.35 GHz NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti 32gb DDR4 RAM @3200 MHz Oculus CV1 NvME 970 EVO TM Warthog Stick & Throttle plus 11" extension. I think Nicks right on the money here, it wouldn't surprise me to see an FC3 one completed by the community. One with full ASM is not only a mammoth task but a lot of the data is still under tight restrictions and even if we have it we are not allowed to produce a high fidelity sim for some parts of it. At best I'd expect a FC3 version :) Pman
NRG-Vampire Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) At best I'd expect a FC3 version :) yeah, that would be cool  and maybe years later with pfm bd-5j, pc-21, f-14a/d, f-16d, f-22, avro-vulcan etc. - aaahhh, come on Spanky, come back and please make it with sfm/fc3 first :bounce: Edited July 15, 2014 by NRG-Vampire
