POLARIS1 Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 A simple question...when Aries is used within an airplane is it possible to also communicate to other persons on a regular TeamSpeak channel?
towsim Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 Aries offers a function in the TeamSpeak Plugins menu called ‘Eavesdropper’. It allows a distress communication across all frequencies between players in game and to gamers off game and vice versa. The only requirement is to be in the same channel. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
NeilWillis Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I have downloaded and installed Aries without any problems, but I have an error message every time I try to run Gossipbox. It states that it is not properly installed. How do I delete all trace of the old Gossipbox, and is that the reason the new one won't overwrite it? I cannot find any reference to it apart from in the Aries installed folder.
Hansolo Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 Did you run the Gossipbox installation as administrator? I seem to recall I had same message when I tried to install it some time back and the the problem was that I didn't install it as Administaror. cheers Hans 132nd Virtual Wing homepage & 132nd Virtual Wing YouTube channel My DCS-BIOS sketches & Cockpit Album
NeilWillis Posted January 30, 2015 Posted January 30, 2015 I understand it should install as part of the latest Beta, but although I tick the box to install, and the folders appeared in the installation, it doesn't work. I did run the installer as administrator.
towsim Posted January 30, 2015 Author Posted January 30, 2015 @NailWillis I assume you get the message: ‘Aries Gossip Box was not installed correctly!’ In this case, it cannot find its INI file. There are two places to be checked: Registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AriesWings\GBO\InstallationPath Should contain the path: C:\Program Files\AriesWings\GossipBox On the disk: C:\Program Files\AriesWings\GossipBox\ApplicationData should contain the file AriesGossipBox.ini [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
NECK Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 @NeilWillis You need to make sure to run the gossipbox as an administrator aswell. I had the same problem as you have, but when I ran it as an administrator it worked (So both run the installation as an admin, and the program itself) "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward for there you have been, and there you will always long to return" 132nd Public documents - Want to apply? - 132nd Youtube channel - 132nd Discord Channel

Feeling really stupid that I didn't think to check that first.
Ramstein Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I really like Aries, but, even with the new version (AriesWingsRadio1.973Beta.zip), while flying in DCS, it freezes my TeamSpeak and jams it, so it no longer lets me communicate to others on my TeamSpeak. I must stop it, and restart my TeamSpeak, so I can continue using TeamSpeak. I believe I set it up correctly, following the instructions. it works good at first, but after a few minutes, TeamSpeak just stops working. I have to exit out of DCS to desktop. Re-start TeamSpeak. I guess there is a log file somewhere that might tell me what is messing up. I will go look for that. Ramstein Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 I have no clue if anything here helps... I don't have Tars, even though it says do, I had it a long while ago for a very short time, but it was taken off my computer many many months ago,,, I only tried it many months ago. I don't have any other chat programs, no other plugins, on TS3, all I have is up to date. Windows 8.1 up to date. I don't know why the dates say what they do, maybe the actual log files creation dates are from the dates shown but, the crashes occurred just a couple hours ago, on Saturday 01-31-15, between 6 pm, and 9 pm PST. ================= ASUS Strix Z790-H, i9-13900, WartHog HOTAS and MFG Crosswind G.Skill 64 GB Ram, 2TB SSD EVGA Nvidia RTX 2080-TI (trying to hang on for a bit longer) 55" Sony OLED TV, Oculus VR
shagrat Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) Dates possibly are UTC dates, not local (PST is some 8? or 9? hours earlier). It seems the TARS deinstallation missed the export.lua entry and maybe the TARS script connecting to TS is still present also... I can't advise on howto remove it, as I don't remember the TARS setup/removal that well, sorry. Better not giving wrong directions and make things worse, but maybe Towsim knows what typical TARS remains cause trouble and where to find them exactly. Ramstein Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 maybe I have to wipe the old Aries completely from the registry? then install the latest Aries Beta? maybe the old registry files left something that computer doesn't like? towsim Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 @Ramstein Sorry for answering late. I was out yesterday the entire day by order of my wife. What I can see from your logs, you are using version 1.970 beta. This version had indeed some memory leaks causing troubles on some installations. I recommend to completely uninstall version 1.970 out of the control Panel/Programs and Features. Then download version 1.973beta from: http://ariescon.com/index10.html The memory leaks are solved in this version. Please keep me informed if this procedure solved your problem. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
towsim Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 @NailWillis and ApoNOOB Did the advice you got from Neck and HMA solve your problem ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ApoNOOB Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 While Gossipbox works now, the normal Aries is on strike with me. :) I can't get it to show me in TS3 as ingame, no matter what I do, Aries remains 'OffGame' and 'No active frequency set'. What I tried: -Repair with Admin rights -Uninstall with Admin rights -Reinstall with Admin rights (I thought maybe I had first installed it without admin rights after my gossipbox fumble..) -Checked export.lua function LuaExportStart() end function LuaExportBeforeNextFrame() end function LuaExportAfterNextFrame() end function LuaExportStop() end function LuaExportActivityNextEvent(t) local tNext = t return tNext end dofile("./AriesWings/AriesRadio.luac") -checked TS3 Admin rights + Plugin activated, it says export.lua is connected Anyone got an idea what I am doing wrong? On a side node, I have installed the DCS Standalone into my steam folder to fool Steam into thinking it is Steam-DCS. :D Could that cause trouble? (The path was already correct in the setup)
NECK Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Dear Aries user, after series of stress tests with more than 10 users at a time connected, we have now a stable version, which can be delivered to the community. One reason for instability was the internal protocol system. The first measure was to disable the protocol system by default. Nevertheless, the entire protocol system is reworked meanwhile and placed in an own, separate application. The new protocol system will be delivered with the next official release. We recommend to leave the current protocol system switched off, unless it is urgently needed for bug hunting. Before you start the installation, please read the ReadMe1973.pdf carefully. You find the file when you unzip the installer package. The new version 1.973 beta can be loaded down from: http://ariescon.com/index10.html Download 'Aries Airborne Radio for DCS World V1.973 Beta' The beta testers, who received already the version with the radar demo included, need not to upgrade to this official version. The 132nd Virtual Wing has been using this beta version for a while now, and we have very good results with this version, and we appreciate the hard work Towsim and the rest of the 10th gunfighters and Aries team are doing for the community. Thanks for your effort, and it is a pleasure so see Aries working as good as now! towsim Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 @ApoNOOB I assume you use the version 1.973 beta? If yes, send the following two files to support@ariescon.com : DCS World\AriesWings\logs\AriesAirborneRadio_log.html C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins\AriesRadio\AriesRadioLog_log.html It should tell me the reason why. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ApoNOOB Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 We are getting closer, as I wrote in my mail, there is no logfile under DCS World\AriesWings\logs\AriesAirborneRadio_log.html.. I guess you will be wanting install logs next? :D
towsim Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 No, logs are produced automatically. But the absence of the log file points to a basic problem. The AriesAirborneRadio.dll was not loaded. The load chain is as follows: Export.lua must be at its standard location. Normally C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts. Export.lua must have the entry: dofile("./AriesWings/AriesRadio.luac"). If there are two minus signs in front (--), please remove them. If AriesRadio.luac was loaded correctly by DCS then AriesAirborneRadio.dll can be loaded, which produces the log file. A good information could be found in C:\Users\{user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log. If there are any troubles within the load chain then the file should have an entry, describing the troubles. If possible, send the dcs.log to support@ariiescon.com. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
