towsim Posted April 13, 2015 Author Posted April 13, 2015 Dear Aries users, as quick repair, a download file is prepared at: http://ariescon.com/ariesradio.zip The ZIP file contains AriesRadio.dll. It shall replace the file in C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins The file has the internal version number 1.976a. The installation package will be modified tomorrow. It will even have the version number 1.976a. The solution was, to prevent all protocol functions. Therefore, no protocol file is produced for the moment. If any issue comes up, please post it here. Thank you and sorry… 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
shagrat Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 No problemo! Good to have that issue nailed pretty quick... If any of this is related to elevated rights management or DLL function calls, I would consider using a network socket to dump the protocol data and have Aries protocol listen to that specific network port? Not the programmer here, but I know how some cross application communication were implemented for similar problems... and if I remember correct DCS lua export feature uses the same "trick". towsim Posted April 14, 2015 Author Posted April 14, 2015 Dear Aries users, the download of Aries Radio V 1.976 was raised to V 1.976a. The only change is the TeamSpeak plugin, which caused the TS crash. Since the bug was located in the protocol system, all protocol functions are suppressed in this repaired version. The software is available on the Aries download page: http://ariescon.com/index10.html [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Ramstein Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 so, the only way for Aries to work properly (the overlay) to work is in windows mode? that is.. dcs in window mode? HiJack Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 so, the only way for Aries to work properly (the overlay) to work is in windows mode? that is.. dcs in window mode? That means you go to DCS Options and uncheck the "Full screen" check box.
EntropySG Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 we used the latest aries version and it works great, no TS crashes, it was stable throughout the flight. Thanks for the prompt fix, the software is invaluable. one thing we noticed, audio quality was very very poor while still on the ground. The planes basically stood next to each other, there were no masking obstacles between them. As soon as we took off and hit like 1000ft AGL, radio quality completely changed and coms were crystall clear. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
towsim Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 You can do some tests to find the reason for the degradation. Go to the quality dialog and disable the different quality checks by their buttons. One after the other. With this method, you can find out which of the calculations cause the degradation. If you could post the result here, it would be great. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Dejjvid Posted April 19, 2015 Posted April 19, 2015 I flew with Entropy this Wednesday and used .7.6a. It was exactly as he explained, but it wasn't the altitude that fixed reception. It was a player setting quality from game master slot. But we didn't know that by then. But it was odd that default values had such poor reception. It was almost impossible to hear each other, even though we were 20 ft apart. i7 8700K | GTX 1080 Ti | 32GB RAM | 500GB M.2 SSD | TIR5 w/ Trackclip Pro | TM Hotas Warthog | Saitek Pro Flight Rudder [sigpic]http://www.132virtualwing.org[/sigpic]
Snoopy Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 It was almost impossible to hear each other, even though we were 20 ft apart. Members of the 476th vFG reported the same thing a few version back and it hasn't gotten any better. Our tests only involved A-10Cs but an A-10C parked right next to me sounded as if he was 50 miles away. v303d Fighter Group Discord | Virtual 303d Fighter Group Website
towsim Posted April 20, 2015 Author Posted April 20, 2015 @Dejjvid Could you please unpush the horizon button in the quality dialog and and check whether it improves the short range quality? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Classydjo Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Good day Towsim, Since recently, we are experiencing weird issue with Aries. Nothing is our config changed since we flew with everything operational, but here what is happening now: As soon as we hit the PTT (radio box 1,2,3 or common PTT), it makes TS crash, every time. Doesn't fail. A-10c to A-10c as well as A-10c to GOSSIP BOX Our Teamspeak server as well as different servers. We tried with different members of our wings and nothing to do, Teamspeak always crash. Since we are unable to read Teamspeak crash log file (.dmp), we can't isolate the problem and troubleshoot it. Let me know if you need anymore info, log file or else. EDIT: We suspect the last DCS update to cause this issue. Edited May 1, 2015 by Classydjo [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] https://www.5vwing.com/
towsim Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 @Classydjo You probably use version 1.976? We encountered a bug in the TS plugin DLL. The bug is caused by a wrong protocol application. As a quick repair, a download file is prepared at: http://ariescon.com/ariesradio.zip The ZIP file contains AriesRadio.dll. It shall replace the file with the same name in C:\Program Files\TeamSpeak 3 Client\plugins The file has the internal version number 1.976a. If you use an older version, please upgrade the entire software to version 1.976a. It can be loaded down from: http://ariescon.com/index10.html Take care, that all participants use the same Aries Radio version. We had a session yesterday night with the latest DCS version. It all worked normal. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jeepyb Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 We verified that we were all using 1.976a and redid a clean install of both TS and Aries. We also tried to see if the problem was caused by a single player by excluding members from the tests we ran. As soon as two players were on the same frequency and transmitted, TS crashed, regardless of who those players were, on which TS server they were, or who was hosting the DCS server. Our DCS is up to date, and our Export.lua seems in order. We really don't know where the problem could be coming from at this point. JP [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Callsign: BUNZ https://www.5vwing.com/
NeilWillis Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Does it occur regardless of which mission you are running?
towsim Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 The only function, which is critical with PTT is the com quality calculation. I would suggest: Before the first radio transmission is done, take over the ‘Game Master’ Unpush all buttons in the lower button row. Push the send button to make the changes active. Now test the PTT. If TS does not crash anymore reactivate the buttons one by one to see when TS crashes again. If you find the blamed button, send me a short note. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jeepyb Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Buttons ? In gossip box ? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Callsign: BUNZ https://www.5vwing.com/
towsim Posted May 1, 2015 Author Posted May 1, 2015 The quality calculation is done in the TS plugin DLL. To take over the ‘Game Master’ and to unpush the buttons: After mission start, changeover to TeamSpeak. From the menu line openPlugins\Aries Radio\Radio Communication Quality. In the upcoming dialog push ‘Game Master’ Unpush the 6 buttons in the lower button row Push the send button. Start your tests Remember, do not use PTT before all buttons are unpushed. The quality dialog is available only during a running mission. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Jeepyb Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 gotcha [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Callsign: BUNZ https://www.5vwing.com/
Jeepyb Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 OK I think I have identified the source of the problem: It has something to do with the ''aerodrome location'' in the Gossip Box configurator: If Lochini is selected for the Gossip Box user, it makes everybody else's TS crash once he enters the game and try to talk to people / or people other players try to transmit on his freq. Also, the ''aerodrome location'' selection button appears to be broken in the configurator. Selecting many of the aerodrome choices presented when selecting that option makes Gossip Box configurator crash. (exemple Vaziani). If Batumi is selected, and aircraft are close enough to the station, everything works like it is supposed to be. Activating the Game master / removing comms deterioration makes it possible to use gossip box on the whole map when it is set to Batumi without any issue.
