You could set FRAPS to record the audio constantly (I assume it has such an option, other recording software does) then use an Autohotkey script that mutes your own mic record channel unless a certain key/button (you can set multiple separate keys/buttons) is being held.

Check the geographical location of the receiving GossipBox. It shold be in the radio range of all participants. if that is not possible then follow the advice to switch off the range degradation.

Just tested it out. Version 3.0.17 of TeamSpeak works together with the current Aries Version 1.976 / 1.976a.

Hi Towsim,

since late July I have issues with Aries. My radios were reseted randomly, sometimes while flying, sometimes on the ground. But only, if I'm in DCS (F-15C). No one from my mates had this problem.

I didn't changed anything, the problem occurs 2 weeks ago, with the former and latest TS3 version.

+ TS3 is 64bit, user account control is off (as in the past)

+ latest vanilla DCS installation

+ no settings (TS3, Aries, DCS) changed

What do you need to analyze my problem?

kind regards,

Fire

Seems this happened here as well. Random with a member of our small group two weeks ago and last weekend I had it happen, myself.

To be clear how this shows: in the middle of the mission I triggered VHF AM radio and after the call I got no reply so I tried again and then noticed all channels on the Aries overlay showing "0000" for frequency on all radios. I had to restart DCS, just restarting Teamspeak won't help.

It did not occur again, but the other guy had the same problem as far as I understood, 2-3 times two weeks before... Any ideas, what might cause that?

If the radio panel does not come up then you should check the following:

Did you install Aries Radio with administrator rights? Otherwise, some registry entries are not set correctly.

  • Is AriesAirborneRadio.dll available in DCS World\AriesWings ?
  • Is AriesRadio.lua available in DCS World\AriesWings ?
  • Does export.lua contain the line dofile("./AriesWings/AriesRadio.luac") ? You find export.lua in C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts.
  • Inspect the text file C:\Users\[user name]\Saved Games\DCS\logs\dcs.log. If any problems are caused by the Aries Software, you will find it here in. Normally anywhere at the end of the file.

Finally, check the registry entries:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ AriesWings\DCSWorldPath
  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AriesWings\DCSSavedGames

Both should show the correct path to the DCS World installation and to the SavedGames folder.

If you do not see the Aries registry key then check HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\AriesWings

If you start TeamSpeak later on, make sure, that even TeamSpeak is started with administrator rights by Default.

I see Wingnut beat me here :)

We'd all used Aries successfully in the past, and I personally had my export entry off when I updated DCS though I can't speak for everyone.

My existing Aries installation is the current version, and both TS and Aries were installed cleanly with admin rights.

I was flying in an F-15C; the radio panel appeared and reacted properly to button presses; I also heard the static pop when I pressed the mic switch; however, when other users attempted to speak I only heard the error message, and I don't think the others could hear me either.

I have not attempted a fresh install of TS and Aries yet to test that, but was curious if others had experienced any issues since the latest DCS patch?

Just tested it out on the latest DCS version and found no issues. I have prepared a new version 1.977, which is not tested extensively. This version should be used only, if all other measures fail. Before you install this pre-beta, please check with the old version the communication with all buttons switched off in the quality management. Last not least, if someone uses Windows 10, I cannot ensure the proper functionality of Aries Radio for the moment. I tried to change over three times, only to get message “Windows 10 cannot run on this hardware”. And this after 16 hours installation with every trial!!:bomb: But I do not give up…

If someone has experience with Windows 10 and Aries Radio, please post it here.

The pre-beta version is available as download at:

Hi towsim, Ive been using Win 10 since it came out for the public and I have absolutely no issues at all with Aries, not a single Aries crash in the last months for me.

132nd did not update DCS to the latest version yet, we are still running 1.2.16.39472.729 (the one before the recent update)

Some of our guys had Aries crashes in the last days, that coincided with the TS3 3.0.17update. Not saying TS update is to blame, but as a precaution, we all rolled back to TS 3.016 and we did not have any problems since.

hope that helps

Thank you all for the replies!

I hope to have a chance to test Aries more extensively this evening; we returned to standard channels to avoid delaying our squadron night on Sunday. If adjusting settings and a reinstallation fail, I'll give the pre-beta a whirl. I appreciate all the care and attention you guys have obviously put into this!
