Killed it on my first attempt. I'm looking forward to it being flyable and having a human opponent.

Looks good so far, my short crappy vid, if it shows up. this plane is hard to kill, good opponent for P 51.

You need to make your own mission.

e.g. open the instant action misson P-51 dogfight mission and change the russian P-51 to a FW190.

Save that file under a new name - and enjoy.

 

Are you sure its not in instant action now with the 190? If not it should be soon :)

It would be nice if the instant action scenario didn't drop you into an unprepared aircraft as the enemy blasts by moving into firing position immediately as you set up your fighting machine. I think a homemade mission with a slight standoff is far more realistic.

It would be nice if the instant action scenario didn't drop you into an unprepared aircraft as the enemy blasts by moving into firing position immediately as you set up your fighting machine. I think a homemade mission with a slight standoff is far more realistic.

 

 

Yeah, I created my own mission, a scramble from cold start to airborne with a number of planes to meet a number of enemy. Much more enjoyable than loading in to the game to see the enemy wiz past you...

ooops... could've been changed with one of the last updates...

I changed the standard mission as soon as the FW190 AI arrived.

So... I'm not sure... blush... :P

 

I'll have to look myself, I know in my tester version its changed... but now I am not sure if I have looked in current release recently.

These are obviously imminent 'DCS time' else they wouldn't have appeared in the mod/upgrades.

The Me 109 is from the community mod someone made... not ED

 

So how about a new topic for the FW190+Dora and the ME109.

Its AI only currently, there is an instant action mission you can use or you need to add it through the mission editor.

 

I hesitate to ask this because I think it might be a dumb question, but I need to ask. I don't see any FW 190 in my game. How do I put it in the sim?

Are you positive there is an instant action confrontation with the 190? I never saw it implemented and I just checked again to make sure. I only see the P-51D vs. P-51D in IA. I think it's only available through custom missions.

Sorry guys, I am asking about it again, its been in tester version for some time, so I will ask when it will make its way to release. I am working on some fun missions against the 190 along with my FLAK script, I will share the here when I get them done :)

 

Are you positive there is an instant action confrontation with the 190? I never saw it implemented and I just checked again to make sure. I only see the P-51D vs. P-51D in IA. I think it's only available through custom missions.

You guys will not believe how tough this plane is to fly! you know I came so close to him that I saw the lashes on his eye mask!!! He flies like a God! 30 mins I just poked a hole in his left fuel tank and he kept on flying like nothing was happening, then he barrel rolled and spoofed me into breaking the saddle, snuck away and got my left tank... The engine just poof poofed so I knew I had to switch to the RH tank and either lose him or continue the curve. Then time drew closer to an hour and suddenly my prop ceased, he came after me as we were close to Batumi and with God-like precision, one bullet to my head.... I died in an open canopy, bullet ridden, prop ceased, gliding at 120 mph Mustang. This sim is so better than contemporary fighter sims with LCOS or eegz... Definitely ED should continue work on this FW and give us a proper adversary for that sweet pony!

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

In the instant action sortie, I have everything setup on my throttle or stick. As enemy comes at me I start turning to get behind him as I get my engine setup, trim the Mustang out and get my sight setup. Then it is a dance of continuous circles. I now also have buttons to manually cool the radiator and oil using the cowl flaps.

 

FW keeps wanting to rope-a-dope me. I have followed him up to where he stalls first, fun to watch, just do not get into his line of firing solution. I get behind him and he high-tails it to get enough separation to come back at me. And this guys is set at the lowest skill rating of "Average".

 

One of the missions I downloaded from the Users' files put 2 FW against me, once I flew to their battle area for 20 minutes. My AI wingmen failed to come with me. I am full aware of not putting all my efforts into one guy and getting tunnel vision, but I did it anyway. A few minutes later I got nailed by his wingman. I try to get hits on both to limit their performance, hopefully, at least. Determine who the best pilot is and work him but also try to work his buddy. Looking at the FW after I got shot down, I thought I had missed him. Looking in F4 then F2, I saw I had hits on both his wings where they meet the fuselage, but the bullets damage factor seem to be lacking from my guns. Guns are supposed to be harmonic at 1000 feet so I set the sight at 900 feet. Have not figured out what the crossfire harmonic pattern is. Is 1,000 feet maximum convergence range?

 

I am still a noob at this, but I can hold my own for awhile and sometimes even get him.

You probably know by now, 4 months later, since you have your server up, it is easy to fix and give both starting aircraft more separation. My 1st edit of this type was less than 10 minutes. I edited the P-51D vs FW-190D9 Instant Action .miz to the Bf-109E. Next I took my mouse and elongated the aircraft pathways on the map in the editor to be parallel and out a few miles. Done. "Save As" using a different name. You can test the mission in the editor and fly it just as if you went to Instant Action. I put mine in My Missions.

 

The current Update 1.2.6.18933 that 109 seems formidable. He fired just 4 cannon rounds in my engine, at a head-on angles attack and killed it, then it blew up!

Love it.
