Dear ED,

Here, I'm posting my concerns in a corresponding forum:

I have been playing DCS for a long time with these video cards, but what I have found recently startled me. I have found that with one card on board the fps is more stable and in overall higher. I would like to ask you if maybe you would add a better GTX690 SLI compatibility with DCS, as I paid so much for these videocards specifically to have a better experience in DCS, to get overall >60fps with the highest parameters, but all I am getting is 12-20fps which is obviously unacceptable. Dear ED, please, if you only could, optimize my most favorite game a little bit better, and by doing this, make the gameplay much more pleasant. Thank you!

I does do SLI. There is an SLI profile that you can find with Nvidia Inspector for DCS Black Shark, but all DCS modules use the same .exe so it is covered. I did a quick test and the SLI visual indicator shows that my second card is working and the workload is pretty split.

For the OP, it maybe an issue with quad SLI. from what I've seen on the web it's pretty flakey in many applications. When you are running a single card you're still running an SLI setup. Is there any way to limit the cards to a tri-sli setup?

DCS is not so demanding on GPU for such a card. I have a 690 as well running with NVIDIA default (AFR2) and runs quite smooth. You won´t use the whole power of 4 cores here except for antialias.

The CPU cores ussage is the bottleneck in my opinion. Or you have a pretty fast one or you are lost (only 2 cores are used anyway). Mine is 3930k OC to 4.2 Ghz and a X79, so quite similar specs as you.

Forget about hardware, it´s perfect for simulation in my opinion. Problem is that engine won´t take the most of it, as usual nowadays with most games. Few companies want to spend money on developing really optimized and up to date engines cause they are expensive.

I hope ED makes dual gpu support. Right now I have a Dell monitor with 2560x1400 resolution and with AA and Vsync the frame do drop a lot, or hopefully with multicore support it wouldn't even have to.

but I think it wouldn't hurt.

I have 2 x GTX285. When SLI is disabled I get 24fps at the start of the first instant action A10C mission. With SLI enabled I get 45fps.

I have heard other people have problems with the 6xx series of nVidia with DCS, not just the 690.

dcs isn't capable of doing sli.. It can only run on one gpu so in reality you're only using half of one 690 and the other half of that card and the other card you have are not able to be utilized.

I to have a gtx690 and well it's not the most ideal card for dcs.. that and from what I'm gathering the nvidia cards are not as suited as a single gpu amd card..

There is nothing accurate in your post. Except that maybe you have a 690. Everything else is wrong.

Might be a crossfire issue. I'm running x2 660ti's and getting smooth performance at 5970x1080.

Yeah crossfire right now on DCS is just a very unsaturated bluish green screen.

Is this AMD's issue?

When I was upgrading my 6970 from my research last year was that CF was no where as mature as sli. I ended up going with the 660ti's because they were at a stupid Boxing Day price and sli was a lot more stable and smoother than CF. I understand AMD is working on beta CF drivers that are to be released later this summer to address these issues.

I've done the same except I've got 2x780 nvidia OC cards with SLI.

With Huey, when SLI is ON, dialogue box reports it's not operating and I'm at around 1 fps! When it's disabled I'm at around 24 fps.

DayGlo says I can use an nvidia profile for Black Shark using nvidia Inspector. Does that apply to 1.2.6? And how do I use nVidia Inspector, where do I look etc.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot,

Mike

I use a pair of EVGA 670 FTW's and mine automatically select the BS1 SLI profile and I get around 60-70 fps at all times bar a massive set of cluster bombs or uber low level flying in towns when it goes to 45-50

780 not yet delivering SLI on 3 screen system

I have/had 2 780 OC units in my system. With standard frame rates at between 22 & 30 fps for a single card, I had hoped for better performance from 2 cards with SLI.

Not the case I'm afraid, from 1 fps (!) to around 14 fps (depending on settings) performance wasa always worse with 2 cards SLI and a 3 screen system

I had the whole lot exenstively tested by the local dealers who are pretty savvy, but nothing we could do improved performance.

I handed one of the 780s back until such time as there's a workable solution.

Good luck

I wanted to get inspector from the source (Nvidias' official site) but they were not making it available anymore as no search results were rendered upon a request. But Guru3d is a trusted site. I just don't know if the software is workable with the new drivers and cards anymore. so at your own risk unless you have an older card and driver ver.

Guru3d has them here. http://www.guru3d.com/files_get/nvidia_inspector_download,1.html

EDGE is supposed to support SLI. It was also supposed to be released before 2014 and we haven't heard a peep about it since early January. Just another example of everything being 'subject to change'... Sigh.
