FPS drop here too ..... becoming close to serious at some points .

AMD FX8350 CPU 4,0 GHz (Big aircooler 45 degrees under load)

16 GB RAM

AMD HD7970 GPU, Cat 13,7 (13,9 broke everything)

BenQ 120 Hz XL2411T monitor

SSD 60 GB for OS

HDD 150 GB 7200 rpm for Game

Resolution 1920*1080

 

what a framerate are we talking about here?

 

I have nearly everthings on high, including TSSAA and Mirrors and get a stable framerate of aprox 20 Frames. It may drop to 15 for huge Missions but they wont even drop further for cities and towns (no Mods).

20 Frames are even not the golden shot, but its at least playable..I wish they were better none the less.

 

I can report about very rare drops till 3 or 4 Frames, but they are return to 15 - 20 emmidiately, and this happens very very rarely

 

This is my setup:

 

AMD Phenom II X6 T1055@2,6Ghz (non oced)

8GB DDR 3 RAM

HD7870@2GB DDR5RAM

a usual HDD, nothings great

I turns into a slide show during low level engagement.

Single digits of frame rate I'd say :(. I don't think I

should have the need to reduce to medium or below

since I run Arma3 on max and IL-2 CloD on max and RoF

on max. To me this screams of under developed engine and

all efforts should be to get EDGE out!

 

In the attached image the resolution is lowered to be able to

cut the settings :)

Im getting down to about 25+ fps around built up airports and large towns apart from that probably fluctuations anywhere from usually stable 50ish+ fps to over 100.

 

I use Devrims Cockpit mod, Highways Terrain mod, PeterP's HDR and SweetFx and Mustangs Clouds, More Visibility Mod , Neck views and some other skins and mission mods.

 

When a new patch comes out, i remove my mods, do the update and then i save the old DCS folder in its same location as, for example "DCS25oct13" which in Windows 7 is located @ :C/ Users/ "Name"/ saved Games/ DCS/

 

After i have saved the old re-named "DCS" folder in its same location, i do full repair. which makes a new DCS folder, and then i replace my old config file from the old DCS folder into the new one, this has all my settings. And replace my mods using JSGME.

 

If the patch is a large game download i will usually do a full re-install.

 

I fully recommend using JSGME as a mod manager and u will have less hassles.

 

I agree the frame rates are getting low , but they can be manageable, most of my settings are set on high , i even have the "More Visabilty " mod set to extreme. But Mirrors are off, Traffic is off and water is on low. Other setting you need to play with as per your likes and dislikes.

@ Jeesus - 5 or 6 in MP usually, also im in Australia and the "tyranny' of distance is a big factor here.

Extreme FPS drops, see screens attached. Nothing changed in the graphics settings (lua).

BTW all the time severe input lags occuring since the latest update (view), no matter what. 2-3 seconds = unplayable. Appears randomly. Sometimes its OK, sometimes it's laggy.

it is perfect with price temprature and noise .in bf3 , 7870 works well with 70 fps in ultra.

 

before change i had 560 ti sc , with same setting i got near 60 fps, just poor performance in stormy missions.

 

i dont know what is wrong between AMD and DCS ? new VGA but less fps than before !!!

Others are having issues with the "MS FFB" Flight stick.

it is more about AMD vs. Intel... Nvidia is better in optimizing drivers since the late 90ies. Close ties to Intel. AMD as a competitor of Intel, has trouble optimizing their drivers for the other company 's boards... may be they lack classified info Intel is willing to share with nvidia, may be they lack just the know how in driver programming, you'll never know. in the end it doesn't matter anyway... AMD - best performance on paper vs. nvidia - solid performance with less bugs and problems, nearly as fast as AMD on paper.

i dont think it will help. gpu max usage is 70 %. something prevent amd carts to use their all potential . i'm sure it is not cpu

 

there are other conflicts that i see them when i use amd :

 

you see parallel lines above clouds or in some jet camo.

 

you see lag and screen freeze when firing many rockets or cluster bombs.

 

i dont see them in nvidia old vga like 560 ti.

 

in other hand it doesn't clear when new EDGE coming , maybe 1 year later or more. and what if problems with amd still exist in that time

you are right, but when they want to fix it? they will loose market in this way. or maybe DCS has problem and should fix their compatibility with amd?

What I meant is that AMD usually is not known for programming stable and flawless drivers... not sure ED can fix that. Things have changed. Even nvidia drivers are regularly updated "to enhance the performance" in games like battlefield, gta etc.

I don't see graphics card manufacturers updating and optimizing their drivers for a niche like flightsim. No I don't like this prospect either!
