YoYo Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Hi Mustang! Just Id like to raport to You: After the last patch (1.2.11) something is wrong with shadows of clouds on the ground. They started flickering. Please see this vid. Before the patch was ok for me. 2-wdU2pk96M If You not see it I can do the new video in better resolution. Hi yes i have seen this bug on my end too, it is a result of the increase of cloud shadow darkness, even on default values the flicker is there but not nowhere near as noticeable.
rcjonessnp175 Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 So? Ed broke the shadows in game with recent patch? How? Looking at change log wouldn't think anything would break cloud shadows .... This sucks I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.
YoYo Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 Ok, good to know than Im not only the one. Will You check it? So maybe to do darkness a little less? Your mod is from my top list :). rcjonessnp175 Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 weird i dont have the shadow problem, running 980 sli in 3d I7 4770k @ 4.6, sli 980 evga oc edition, ssdx2, Sony 55 inch edid hack nvidia 3dvision. Volair sim pit, DK2 Oculus Rift.
Mustang Posted November 13, 2014 Author Posted November 13, 2014 weird i dont have the shadow problem, running 980 sli in 3d Most of the time i don't see the bug either, the conditions have to be specific for it to happen.

theGozr Posted November 13, 2014 Posted November 13, 2014 (edited) Holala ! YoYo what happened to the wind and turbulences ? like smooth ride ? ;) --- The problem to me in many servers and even aerobatics etc is that their weather is set like above.. a Dead world. Now a minimum of each should be a must to have the right feeling and even the right aircraft response disadvantages and advantages . A weather should be a must in servers or missions any is better than nothing. As soon as you liftt off in a RL aircraft this is what you realize .. weather, forces and visibility and landmarks. Some stuff that are good. http://www.sweethaven02.com/Aviation/Weather/AvWeather05 This was a major problem in the early days of lockon or DCS, turbulence were impossible in Multiplayers. I have no idea if they did fix this. Flying virtually with some weather condition is something that should be very very important even in Aerobatics at an airport. More difficult to control aircraft.. well GOOOD! get the most of what you can as experience like a real effects. A sim is what it is for. Now with Mustang's effects and clouds shades on ground is great to get.. Edited November 13, 2014 by theGozr Fly it like you stole it..

ricktoberfest Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 v5.58 is up first post, this is a real nice version :) I always forget how much difference your mod makes until a game update when I forget to reinstall it and it goes back to "normal"! HRD is unusable on my GPU without this mod- just wanted to say thanks again. Oh, and the increased cloud shadows have doubled the enjoyment of DCS for me. It's awesome to go under a cloud in the mi-8 and everything darkens like it should. Previously I didn't even realize cloud shadows were modeled.
ricktoberfest Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I only wish my phone had a mod so HDR didn't get autocorrected to HRD!
ZMEY-HS- Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Just a thought, is it possible to make reflections a way more dispersed? IMO, current reflections are not enough distorted.
Shadow KT Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Is it possible to mod the sun a but down. I mean the outline of the sun to be a bit smaller. I mean there is this main circle which is the sun and then the outer circle which is like a reflection or something 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days

Mustang Posted November 17, 2014 Author Posted November 17, 2014 (edited) I've figured how to heavily lower or raise the 'temporary dimming of horzion' in sky.fx without losing too much terrain illumination, problem is the stronger i make it the more there is some noticeable flicker/aliasing of the skyline (especially in climbs or turns, you can see it slightly in 2nd pic) i may release a version with this included in a version soon if anyone wants to try it out. YoYo Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Some of my screenies from the last version of mod. Not edited, simply from the sim (just resized). Mustang Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 v5.59 is uploaded today, some changes to sky.fx yet again see first post. P.S: nice screenies YoYo
NatoBoomerang Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Hey Mustang - whats the HDR preset recommended for your shader Mod please? I currently have my HDR set to OFF and running SweetFX with Dr.Crow's setting. Thx in advance. Nato. "it don't matter, no more..." ==========================================
CHSubZero Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I'm using Mustangs shader mod together with HDR NORMAL & SweetFX and I would never play DCS without it (or EDGE is released hehehe) Aviation Livery - Explore Military Aircraft Liveries My Mods: DCS User Files
silviuf Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Mustang, I know that this is a very dumb question, but here it is: which archive must I use from your first post? Because you have two, which seem to be the same: "complete" and "no reflections high water". And what's the difference? Thanks. Try either of them, the "no reflections high water" basically gives you everything that the high water offers have minus environmental reflections (this was requested by some community members)

Another question though: does this mod (and mods in general) affect DCS as a whole (all modules, regardless of plane/map) or does it affect only a specific module/plane/map? Thanks a lot.
