Eh guys- Very quickly... what is the pod identified in this photo? And I'm not asking because I know and am testing you- I literally just don't know. I've seen it in a few photos now and I'm confounded.

EDIT:

Have learned from the thread and its contributors that it is in fact an SUU-25 flare dispenser.

You don't know where and when the photo was taken

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

perhaps a FACE pod? (AN/ARC-235)

EDIT: Something similar, not the one I wrote above, that one looks different.

EDIT2: I think I might have been on the right track, check this out:

EDIT3: Or maybe not. Perhaps it is a SUU-25 flare dispenser?

(Can't post the photo link I found for some reason, sorry.)

I certainly know that there's live ordnance on that plane. You think they carry Mk-82s on ferry missions? ;)

you can find out if you try a test mission on a test flight. you can edit the mission and your aircraft's loadout. the slots you're looking for are in #3 and #9.

personally, I'm not up to finding this out myself (and only just found out there was a minor match to the game at the moment, so IDK if it works this time around). so, I don't know yet.

In case anyone is interested in why I was asking and what project I was talking about... A few photos of early "sketches."

Below are photos of my GF (Callsign "Sweetest"- yes, she flies DCS A-10C) in the initial stages of adorning the front wall of our garage with this monumental aircraft. She's a professional artist, so I'm looking forward to seeing what she manages.

I'm her "technical" advisor... lol... meaning YOU GUYS are her technical advisor!

Cheers guys, and thanks again for the input.

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

lol thanks milli- I agree!

On a side note- I know that wing type antenna visible in the photo behind the cockpit is for a radio that isn't available in DCS... but for the life of me I can't remember what the rectangular box like structure is between the engines- Can someone help me out?

Wonder if it's an intake for the APU?

Edit: Disregard- I stumbled into the answer looking at something else. I guess it's the intake for the cooling system.

Umm...what?

  1. open DCS World
  2. click Mission Editor (use any mission really, even an empty one)
  3. find your flight, or place it somewhere (like an airstrip)
  4. click your flight for the flight editor (if the window is not already open)
  5. click the drop down menu next to 'Type' (which is 'aircraft type').
  6. select A10C.
  7. on the bottom where the icons are, click the second one (the second to the left. this will open up the screen with the outline of the aircraft, which also labels the slots.
  8. slots #3 and #9 are where the pods in question are located.
  9. the bottom of that is the list of different loadout combinations (I haven't counted how many at default, but there's more listed when you scroll down)
  10. select the right one (if you're feeling lucky)
  11. save, and exit editor.
  12. open mission and view your A10C aircraft.

Eh guys... just a quick update. Still in the "filler" stage and some of the lighting is a tad off (had different light sources causing differences that didn't become apparent until too late)

Anyway, she's pretty stoked out about and I'm very proud of her so I wanted to show off the progress a little!
