ralfidude Posted December 22, 2013 Author Posted December 22, 2013 No clue, this was on the 77th server I believe. As far as training goes, it depends on the people if they want or need it. I sort of don't want to deal with setting that up. At least 8 people or more would be the minimum and a range of topics to go over so I can prepare ahead of time. elchacal Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Nice video!.. Were you set a countermeasure program for chaff and flare? or just the manual mode? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
VH-SkyHawk Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 When I watch such videos, I am always finding myself asking "Are these real pilots" because the way they communicate is just... too realistic... Great stuff to watch
ralfidude Posted December 25, 2013 Author Posted December 25, 2013 My CMS panel is set up in this manner: Always MANUAL. Charlie program by default which dumps all flares like a crazy folk. Why? Because on Semi, the CMS panel WILL KILL YOU. Imagine you enter an AO where you have a bunch of radar contacts and you get hit by a bunch of radars which make your CMS panel sweat and they start to choose the best program to activate on your command. This is all nice and dandy. But then on your way you suddenly get a missile warning from your MWS.... Well, your CMS doesn't know what the hell to do in that case. It didn't get a radar warning so it has no goddamn idea what program to choose. Instead it does nothing. It sits there in program whatever, like B for example which is all chaff and no flares, and in panic you throw CMS up only to find you are popping chaff on a SA-13 shot from right under you. As you fall to the ground in a fiery spectacle, you curse your CMS panel for basically fuc*ing you in the butt. I have learned from those experiences that manual mode is best mode in charlie. So that no matter what, should a heater be fired at me, I am ready with the most effective counter measure possible. If there is a radar contact, then you have the TIME to manually switch to a more suitable program, even if the missile is in the air. It's those heaters that are already within 400 feet of your aircraft before the MWS kicks in that kill you with the short time. Trust me, my survivability has increased ten fold since I started to use this technique. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
Shadow KT Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 + 1 on that. you have no idea how many times i have died cuz i waz too lazy to set my manual programs 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days
TurboHog Posted December 25, 2013 Posted December 25, 2013 I took this technique a little bit further, if I may say so: I use a single manually released 1xflare program (A) and a single 2xchaff program (B). This way I can determine myself how much countermeasure I deploy based on the threat. If an IR-SAM launch is right below me, I go crazy on CMS fwd. If the launch is a bit further away and behind me, I go more easy on the flares. If I'm doing a gun run I press CMS fwd a couple of times with a 1-3 sec interval. In my experience releasing single flares throughout the flight of the intercepting SAM is more effective than one big burst (or two flares at a time). And indeed: Auto or Semi-Auto. Never again. 'Frett'
Ninja1959 Posted December 26, 2013 Posted December 26, 2013 Developed excellent thanks for sharing .... [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]

Shadow KT Posted December 27, 2013 Posted December 27, 2013 meh...it ain't the same fun if you don't have to defeat couple of IR sams for a warmup 'Shadow' Everybody gotta be offended and take it personally now-a-days
ralfidude Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 Thanks, it's always fun to make vids like these with the appropriate mods to go with it hehe. [sIGPIC]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/ralfidude/redofullalmost_zpsa942f3fe.gif[/sIGPIC]
GC1993 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Is it just me that loves to Wild Weasel and gets a thrill from seeing multiple SAM launches speed towards you? After reading "Viper Pilot" by Dan Hampton (amazing read, recommend it to anyone on here in a heartbeat) I've made a bunch of missions where Tbilisi is full of SA-3s, SA-6s and AAA just like Baghdad was in the book and just Weasel the s**t out of it, sometimes in a Hog. Top stuff as always Ralfi
