  3. Hi! Mission 10 requires a show of force in a contested area with manpads... OK, risky but feaseble....after all you are calling yourself a "Weasel"... I tried twice and I was blown up by the manpad... I came to this forum and saw many pleople complaining about it, but instead of crying, giving up or complaining I've decided to master it... so I create a mission at the mission editor with the same payload and weight, with a MANPAD at 0,6nm to learn how to dodge it...played it more times than I can count... At 3000ft and 0,6nm from the manpad (like in the real mission)... Manpad missile comes with high energy and its very hard to dodge it unless the missile pick the wrong target by "pre-flares"... At higher altitudes like above 7000ft its much easier...but then its not a "show of force"... At high speeds like mach 1,05 or 700kts you get in and out the manpad WEZ range really fast but the jet isn't very manuverable, so again you rely on the missile picking one of your flares... at 400kts its very maneuverable but the manpad will likely shot you twice... My final solution was... doing the show of force at 4500ft instead of 3000ft, slightily offset the trucks... by 0,1nm or so... and my slant distance from the manpad went from 0,6nm to about 1nm... with the extra room your chances of survival improve significantly... After trying several aproaches (even the sugested orthogonal defense) my final tatic was: (no pre-flare to be able to dodge it,only in my trainning mission, the real one I was of course pre-flaring) As soon as I got shot by the manpad, Engine to idle and wait 2 secs (to allow the EGT to reduce temperature so your flares look more attractive) then flares as you pull up (the first flares go in your last trajectory this way) then turn into the missile but keep some room to turn harder in the missile when its very close about to hit you, and do that aplying full power...(when it works You feel like a "Maverick") ....or turn away from the missile... still idle..and perform a tuneau flaring as much as you can... (the best rate of survival aproach in my tests) Nailed it on my third attempt.
  4. UNBOX the SEQ in the bottom right hand corner of your SA or HSI page. When boxed it will only allow you to cycle between WP's that are part of that sequence (which can't include markpoints).
  5. The devs are using a completely different software to analyze this (my guess is looking at the behind the scenes stuff going on rather than primarily "watching" it, which is why they want a track rather than a video), so I'm sure they can do very different things to what users can.
  6. I disagree. Sure as mission builder, you have to have specify where the embarkation takes place, but you can still offload them wherever. And that destination could be dynamic. Not that ground troops are super effective or anything in terms of firepower, but they can serve as a package to be defended, delivered or recovered in a mission. And, maybe the mission involves getting your vehicles across town to pick them up... so there is the potential of additional challenge there, particularly when the player has to pick the route to get to them, and deal with random threats along the way.

  9. I've tested just know and it works but sometimes I can't switch beyond WPT0 to get MK9-0 and ultimately WPT 59, instead it will loop back to the last WPT defined. Not sure what I've done wrong in those cases
  10. I was experimenting a bit with this. I learned the LAV-25 only carries 6 troops. So if you have a group of 3 LAV vehicles, for example, then you can still take up to 6 ground pounders per vehicle, but as stated, the ground pounders have to be placed in groups of 6 or less. Also I see that the AAV-7 does embark up to 21 ground troops.
  11. Rename the controller folder for that in your SAVED GAMES folder (or just rename the DCS folder in saved games if you want to test if that fixes it). All the repairs and stuff you did so far will have no impact on your saved games folder files, so haven't touched the issue.
  12. Thank you so much, I was about to give up and throw the thing in the trash!
  13. Not sure what "play with version 2 means". I own BS3 only (i.e. not upgrading form BS2 to BS3). What should I expect if I purchase this campaign. Will it work out of the box with BS3's features?
  14. it would be good if we could get some info on this? Does ED themselves even know I wonder
  15. May I ask what map you used to create the images on the kneeboard? They look so good! I would like to make similar for my own missions in NTTR.

  18. Release date Friday, 3rd October then, German Unity Day? Would make for a nice present.
  19. I see. Understood. ....but in real life, as seen, the effect is just the same as in the F-15s. There is zero visual difference. F-22 flying in formation with it is not adequate because of the alpha and a low wing load at the flight regime. Obviously the 35 will generate vortexes easier because of the high wing load as you properly pointed out. The demonstration should have been at similar alpha, I think. A-10s are no comparison. DCS already takes into the account the alpha and without any change the F-35 will display the vortexes easier as the system automatically does it by default. You're right about that. In the visual realm, although very nice looking DCS is already, the effect should be upgraded globally. Reason is because they all look the same in DCS, and are too skinny where it should be a thick cylinder like streak as in very humid conditions. F-35s bellow: F-22 bellow: Visually, planes can do exact same visible vortexes effects. So it is where I'd say the effect should be upgraded globally. F-35s can do easier? Yep, I agree. Keyword: easier. F-35s vortexes are longer? Not necessarily. DCS Should have longer wingtip vortexes while its length varying based on air conditions? I agree with it too. I'm all for these improvements in visual goods. I've also noticed the delta winged aircraft are very difficult to generate such effect (rare to non existent in photographs) while in DCS it is easy to do on the M-2000C. So an upgrade/tweak on that front should be also looked at, especially with the Eurofighter coming up.

  21. 29 pilots IRL did get warnings and acted upon them(when SPO was operatuonal). There are some testemomies I alredy posted. I am preparing one with amraam miss at 5nm at the moment. In addition the story of Nebojša Nikolić needs update, since I found later interview and he did not fly in the straight line, but dodged amraam, sparrow and got hit by second amraam at 1.5-2nm range. His description of flight pattern indicates agressive snake-like flight while pushing for the merge.
  22. А зачем? Он же и так PFM. Это если бы его делали full fidelity... Может быть, это даже случится при нашей жизни (в конце концов, там нет ни радара, ни сверхсекретного оборудования)...
  23. Just set up my ET 5 and it works great in every module except for the Hornet and Viper. The column for head tracking is in the controls section but are blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
  24. Where do these assumptions come from? It seems to me that the only thing ED said was that the SPO-15 won't detect ARH missiles. I mean, it will only detect it a few seconds before impact. And as far as I know, a FOX-1 will not be detected only when, as you mentioned, it's launched via datalink and It might have something to do with range, because AIM-54 might be shoot that far away that signal is to weak for SPO-15 to detect and it will show up just as fighter and only when F-14 radar is doing PDI for AIM-54. The only other thing that comes to mind is that it will also not detect the R-27P/EP, which works similarly to the HARM on ground radars, but in the air. As for the interference of the SPO-15 by the radar, I don't think it is modeled because we have too little information.
