The bizarre wish for subscriptions is malarkey. And yes, in some places DCS modules were sold as hard copies for a while. It's actually how I got to DCS in the first place.

Timber wanted to let you know I gave this a try and the defensive jamming worked really well. Im going to try offensive jamming next. For defensive jamming, Im curious if this will protect any friendly aircraft around me or only when the SAM is firing at me. If I have a friendly wingman next to or near me, and he is locked up by the SAM would my jamming save him.

Were DCS modules ever sold as hard copies? Download is malarkey? That doesn’t make sense… This doesn’t strike me as the type of game someone would rent. It’s not like some game you play through in 20 hours or so and then quit. Those possibly made sense to rent but not this.

Yeah, this is an issue with connection with the validation servers. Either it's on your end, or the servers has hickups. That is the exact error people get when they are kicked off for no reason. Totally agree. It really depends of the price of the subscription, and how long you've planed to stay. In the long run paying full price of front will be cheaper. I'm not sure how much I've paid, but I don't think I'm far off with USD2000 the last ten years. So that will be cheaper than UAD19.90 every month for 10 years. A lot of online servers, when you try to connect to them, require permission 'for the server to take screenshots'. There has been some debate about it when the feature was introduced, I seem to recall it is considered a bit of an anti-cheat bit somehow, but frankly, that isn't what I want to get into right now. Instead, quick question: What does the server actually take a screenshot of? Or more precisely: Can any of the online server admins, who ever took a look at one of those, actually tell me what all they show? Is it solely the DCS window? Is it the screen that DCS is running on? Is it all the screens?

I have some of the missions I use in VR showing a thick, circular haze/fog layer that I can't seem to get rid of. The mission is set with no clouds and base and thickness set to the minimums. It makes if very difficult to see the F-16 HUD symbols as they get washed out against the white background. It doesn't happen as bad in every mission, but the haze is there at a much greater distance in all of them. I use the Re-Shade mod and have the haze set to .10. Here's a screenshot to show what I mean.

I've been having some issues spawning FARPs through the CTLD script when creating a FOB, but even including the "ammo/fuel depot," the FARP doesn't rearm or refuel. I found your information very useful and relevant; I will test it. Thanks for sharing!

These days most popular servers are where hornets And falcons Fight hornets And falcons. There is no other way to make a server playable because these two planes are 15-20 years younger then their closest ru Counterpart. And after the release of the F-35 it will be F-35s Vs F-35s. One could say "it's up to server admins either to use the 35 or not" as long as he wants, but the reality shows that it's either bells And whistles or an empty server

All my time nerding out on aircraft footage, I haven't seen anything different on the F-35 in that regard. Feel free to post direct comparisons in the same atmosphere conditions. It is going a bit to the realm of 'nobody cares that much', especially something regarding wingtip vortexes. Doubtful if something comes in that regard with the 35. A global improvement would be nice, as in less sensitive to occurrence and longer trails.

I'm pretty sure that the days when DCS modules were available to be bought in physical boxes were a much better idea than this usual malarkey.

It seems that no red aircraft like mig29, su27, mig21..., is reacting to ARH missiles, also checked on my side, SP and MP. I test it in different circumstances and is very easy to reproduce.

HI all, I've been away from DCS for many months and decided to get back on. I'm running 2.9.6.58056@openbeta and since the replay mode is rock solid (a feature that's very important to me) I wanted to startup DCS and enter offline mode and stay with this release. I didn't want to upgrade as I thought I had read some users reporting replay problems had returned in later versions (though I could be wrong). I removed all mods, ran cleanup & repair. Everything starts up just fine but when I click the Offline Mode icon, I get a popup window showing: "can't enter offline mode: error 500". When I try again to activate offline mode I get the popup window showing "can't enter offline mode: error 401". FYI: Manually set system time and date so that's not an issue. Attached most recent dcs.log (I'm guessing the important entry is: 2025-09-06 18:30:12.471 ERROR ASYNCNET (10472): Entering offline mode failed because server returned an invalid reply. Yes, in humid conditions the F-15 will often show vortices, but the F-35 is notable because you can sometimes see them even in dry environments, like desert airshows, where other jets wouldn’t produce visible trails. I’m not saying the F-35 is “special” in that sense, but its vortices do appear more frequently and tend to last longer. That comes down to wing geometry and loading, combined with weather conditions. For the same humidity, the F-35’s vortices are generally more visible. F-15: Strong, but short-lived wingtip trails. F-35: More persistent, longer trails due to wing loading and geometry. F/A-18: Heavy vapor overall, but mainly from leading-edge and body vortices rather than wingtips.
