  2. Hey Zev, what you have to do next, depends on the situation. In best case you are at least a 2 ship. If you are allready on cap you should be flying in line abreast and be setup to air-to-air. If not, you should switch A/A and go line abreast. In the F4 it is better to fly slightly below the bogey because the radar is not very good in finding targets against a background ground clutter. You then turn to the bearing provided in the BRAA call. You want to be as fast as possible, without using burner, so set mill-power (but first maintain line abreast on the new heading). Next is to identify the bogey as bandit. Without specific ROE normally you need two indications for a bogey to be declared hostile. First would be Jester calling no IFF. The second could be a call from awacs, or a visual ID. That was the big problem during vietnams Operation Rolling Thunder. But in DCS you can aply other ROEs, so if you like engage as Jester calls him a bandit. When engaging you want to be faster, higher and full hot on the bandit. Meaning you put in full burner until you get supersonic and then make a smooth climb maintaing your mach at 1.0x. You can tell jester to lock a specific bandit (helpfull if its a group of at least two bandits) by selecting it in the Jester Wheel or you can snap Jester Context Button short and he will lock the next available Bandit. If you have problems finding the bogey on radar you can manipulate the radar search by either using the Jester Wheel or switch to boresight mode by pressing the cage button. Jester focuses the radar emissions straigth ahead whichs means you have a nearly instantanious refresh rate but also lose SA on everything whats not in your boresight. After getting a solid lock you have to wait until in range and also wait for jester to count the potatos. When you get your shoot indication you hold the trigger until the sparrow fires. After that you perform a cranking manouver and put the bandit on the edge of your radar beam and guide your missile in. Sending some countermessures is a good idea because the bandit will likely be firing at you as well. Given that you are not facing an enemy with Fox 3 missiles you should be in an advantage because you are faster and higher than your enemy, so your sparrow should reach him first. Hope that helps.

  5. If you have Carrier as No 2 in the group, no arrestors will work. If Carrier is No 1, all arrestors will work. I had this prob some time ago. I assumed it was caused by adding Fletcher and Iowa mods. I removed mods and it remained. I deleted mission and started again with a new Carrier group, Wires were working and have been ever since. I assumed Mission was corrupted. This morning I created 2 Missions to confirm your findings. Carrier as No 2 = No wires. ..
  6. New mod for both Player and AI: a hypersonic air-launched ballistic missile (AGM-183) for the Hornet — now fully player-controllable, not just AI. The missile is designed for air-to-ground use and supports Pre-Planned (PP) guidance mode.
  7. подскажите,как сбрасывать бомбы по одной,а не сразу парой(левый-правый)?имею виду бомбы одного типа.,например если на су25Т на оба крыла повесить одинаковые бомбы и можно скидывать бомбы по одной или сразу парой или все сразу с заданным интеравлом,у него в настройках управления есть пару кнопок,кол-во сброса и интервал,а на су33 не нашел в настройках упр.

  9. For red AC I have an ACHS -1 clock I found in Vietnam (keeps pretty good time). I put it by the monitor & make the clock on screen the same size as the real one. That zoom's pretty convincing...
  10. I have found that the weight of the aircraft affects the turning ability, too. Taxiing to the runway with full fuel (just ammo for machine guns) was more problematic than taxiing with about 30 gallons and no ammo remaining. Cheers! Sent from my SM-G998B using Tapatalk

    Я имел в виду кольцо индикации. А сам монокль, да, непропорциональный. Если его делать как в реале, он полэкрана должен занимать. Но тут уже игровые соображения. Главное чтобы индикация была правильной.

  14. Хренадуса )) . Кольцо нашлемки всего около 4 см от глаза, сразу за уровнем светофильтра ЗШ и перекрывает около 30% всего поля зрения а то и больше. Дужку - держалку вообще почти не видно , ну если только глаза закатить )) . Такого размера скорее проецируемые на стекло кольца индикации . Я с нашлемкой полетал не мало, нравилась мне эта приблуда . Конечно , мне не понятно как красиво с имитировать вид с одного глаза на плоском экране , может в VR оно смотрится по другому , более реально .
  15. Hi. It doesn't matter if it's a paid add-on or a mod. If you want to maintain realism and move forward, use the metric system. Of course, that's your decision, which makes no sense to me for the simple reasons already described. Btw. Of course, there are exceptions, such Polaris Ghost Squadron as a used plane, but this is a completely different version and, of course, purchased for private (in this case) or training needs. After all, the F-14 is an American aircraft (descriptions is another matter); it can't use the metric system. I know there were occasions when the Russians were able to produce cockpit descriptions in English for foreign customers like Malaysia or India, but these were very rare. The entire Eastern Bloc (Warsaw Pact) used Cyrillic for their aircraft. Btw. as for China, some types were developed in cooperation (like the J-17) and for export. These planes also have English explanations in the cockpit in real life, which is perfectly fine, so I don't know what example this is. However, you probably know that when you hover your mouse over a button, a "bubble" with English text will appear, even if the textures in the cockpit are Cyrillic.

  18. Hi all, I’m looking for some advice on intercept procedures in the F-4E Phantom. Situation: I’m in the pilot seat, using AI Jester as my WSO. GCI gives a BOGEY call (bearing, range, altitude). From there, I want to get the bogey on radar as quickly as possible so we can move to the next phase of the intercept. I’m curious how other players approach this. Do you have a set routine or “workflow” you follow once GCI calls a bogey? How do you best coordinate with AI Jester to get the radar looking in the right place without wasting time? Basically: After a GCI call, what’s your go-to sequence as a pilot? Any tricks to getting Jester scanning to get a radar contact faster? More tips and tricks ? I’d really appreciate hearing how the community tackles this — I’m still experimenting and would like to learn from others’ experience. Thanks!
  19. Classic DCS AI... always give them some room. No, it's just the landing you missed. You can go ahead and skip. I can't make the player immortal, because then after that I'd have to make them mortal, but if the player choose to play the whole mission as immortal, that would cancel that too.
  20. А реализация нашлемки из ГС и Ка-50 ближе к реальности или ещё менее правдоподобна? Крашеный металл и серый пластик отличить легко. Но вот если и металл, и пластик будут покрашены, то как отличить, не щупая?

    Кольцо нашлемки выглядит нормально. Оно и в реале всего 2-3 градуса. Под краской, не видя сколов и/или характерной текстуры стали, просто на глаз, невозможно сказать тип материала.
  23. I don't think changing unit to Imperial is too unrealistic for mig29 as everything is the IRL GAF mig-29 manual is in Imperial unit. I don't remember any other aircraft in DCS has this feature since it's a new feature for dcs. u can change unit from Metric to Imperial in L39 if u set avionics language setting to English Some aircraft have limited ability to change unit,like A-10C using IFFCC manual u can change distant unit to Metric to better coordinate with army I guss,but everything else is still in Imperial regardless the setting. ka50 u can switch everything on ABRIS(which is like a more advanced NS430) to different unit,but unit for steam gauges and HUD will keep in Metric. Also IIRC for FC3 version of Mig29, Mig29A and S are using Metric but Mig29G is using Imperial,but u have to switch aircraft to get that unit change. (JF has a English cockpits since it's designed for export)

  25. Thanks! No there isn't any further info other than that page, it wasn't very detailed in real life inflight guides either. There are only 2 tankers on station anyways.
  26. That’s it, nice recap. Will this issue be addressed in the short term? I need to do runway starts to avoid taxiing and it’s quite an immersion-killer.
