I don't believe that's Jester doing that. There are switches in the back that control when the RWR overrides the display. It's default setting is for the RWR screen to come up when a radar is detected, it simulates the non-continious painting of an enemy radar as it scans you and around you, so it pulses the screen on and off.

Not at the moment, it was a while ago. Try using the Mk.47 motor. It's more efficient at high altitudes than the Mk.60. An F-14A can also achieve Mach 2.0+ with a single missile for extra speed. - Today

The first press of the MMCB should take you to guns mode. Have you then pointed the nose at the ground? It might just be that the gun cross is below the bottom of the HUD it likes to hang out down there below your normal field of view until you are diving at the ground. Otherwise, like Yurgon said, track files are useful.

Zabuzard I tried 3 different changes. First I only changed the first line numbers. Second, I marked out the 2nd and 3rd lines. Finally, I put back the 2nd and 3rd lines but only changed the numbers to 10,10,10,x. In all cases, black did not appear in the HUD Again thanks for trying to help me. .

Add a “Roll-Linked Nose Wheel Steering” Option

Just wanted to give a quick update. I tried this setup and it works great! I used the Paddle Switch on my joystick as a modifier, then mapped the roll axis to the rudder axis while holding it. Now, when I hold the Paddle and move the stick left or right, the aircraft steers perfectly on the ground. Super smooth taxi control! Big thanks to everyone who shared this idea. This is an awesome little trick that really solves the problem! -
Agreed!

Now those are figures that are actual data that does support your point. You can now clearly see the slop was widely off base (and for some reason, it sold the Chinese variant quite short), even if the conclusion was the same. Well, dev time is in limited supply, for DCS it's in very limited supply. So the question becomes, when does making a Linux port starts being worth the trouble. For DCS, it probably won't happen anytime soon. While the idea of low overhead OS to squeeze more juice out of the hardware sounds appealing, the required software just isn't there. In particular, while Pimax announced VR support on Linux (I wonder if Chinese government's push for UOS has anything to do with that), most joystick software only runs on Windows.

Glad it worked for ya. Have an interesting system for these U-birds. Figure that they showed up in batches, so like '8xx' for the early(red), and '5xx' and '7xx' for the later(blue) arrives. Three Divisions(12)/Squadron. Division Leaders: xx1(or 0),2,3. Section Leaders: xx4,5,6. DL Wingman: xx7,8,9. SL Wingman: x10,11,12. The first number is Squadron (8,5,7,etc.), and the middle is random(non-'1'), except for the SL Wingmen that have the '1' already. Usually set all Leaders(xx1(or 0),2,3,6) to veteran, with the exception of the first and second Section Leaders(xx4,5), as aces. First two DL Wingmen(xx7,8) are also veteran, while the remaining four(xx9,x10,11,12) are trained replacements. Ace-2 Veteran-6 Trained - 4 Will look like a gaggle, but can identify A/C and pilot skill in-flight or on the ground at a glance. Set the enemy up more or less accordingly, depending of attrition. Early to mid '43, still had a lot of hot Jap pilots. Bowie

Add a “Roll-Linked Nose Wheel Steering” Option
Bullseye_F-16 replied to Bullseye_F-16's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yeah, I totally understand that — it could definitely be tricky to implement across so many aircraft. I’ll give the modifier method a try soon and share how it goes. Maybe instead of a global NWS option, it could be something enabled or disabled per aircraft, which might make it a bit easier technically. Of course, I have no idea what’s going on under the hood — just throwing out an idea. Thanks again for the helpful input! -
Dont rename it, only change the numbers. Your first line also has a comma too much. Id suggest to grab the original file and start touching a single line only, just change one of the numbers at the end of the line :) The code still looks for the material named HUD_GREEN, so when you rename it it wont find it anymore and hence crash. It needs to retain the name (or alternatively you would need to rename all usages of HUD_GREEN in the hud files). The numbers are what make the color, not the name. The name doesnt really play a role for the color, so it can just stay as HUD_GREEN.

Add a “Roll-Linked Nose Wheel Steering” Option
Yurgon replied to Bullseye_F-16's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Yeah, that's a fair point. I'm just afraid it might actually be pretty hard to implement properly and without accidentally breaking something just because of the large variety of aircraft in DCS. If you get the chance to try the modifier solution, let us know how it works for you. I use something similar in one specific module and found that it works quite well for me. -
perfect!!! thank you ;), it works

Bullseye_F-16 replied to Bullseye_F-16's topic in DCS Core Wish List
Thanks a lot for the detailed and thoughtful explanation — you make some very valid points! I completely understand the potential issues you mentioned, especially regarding crosswind takeoffs, differential braking, and training missions. That’s why I imagine this feature as something purely optional — a simple accessibility assist for players without rudder pedals. It wouldn’t need to disable the roll axis completely. Instead, it could work only at very low ground speeds, similar to how Falcon BMS handles it. Above a certain speed, it could automatically deactivate, letting the normal flight controls behave as usual. Of course, anyone who prefers full realism (or needs to train specific procedures) could simply leave it off. But for players with limited hardware, it could make taxiing much smoother and more enjoyable without affecting others. So in short, it’s not meant to replace proper rudder or NWS control — just to make DCS a bit more accessible for those who don’t have all the hardware yet. Thanks again for your insight — really appreciate the detailed feedback! -

Dude, relevant for what? Steam stats are only a really tiny portion of the global user stats, which was what was being discussed when you replied with that (once again!). People are getting tired of Windows shenanigans, and the closest working alternative is Linux, period. If that's not your case, fine - use Win11 and the upcoming Win12. That's your choice. If gamers (including DCS users) feel stuck with an OS that they despise, knowing that it's clearly going from bad to worse, then why would anyone oppose to the idea of exploring some other OS that may provide most (if not all) of the same functionality with none of such problems? And where does that hurt you, really, for you to insist (on and on and on and on) with a point that doesn't relate? Don't like it, don't use it. Interested? Then stay tuned, or maybe give it a go and pick a distro (my 2 cents). That's it. Got nothing to do with stats.

SharpeXB's suggestion is spot-on! Because when we look at it in detail, how exactly would a roll-linked NWS work? Does it disable the roll-axis while on the ground? That might break certain training missions that require pilots to perform specific steps on the ground (and be a nightmare for their creators). Or does the roll-axis maintain its function while adding NWS on top? Since NWS is linked to the rudder in most DCS aircraft, I suppose you're actually thinking about a roll-rudder link rather than a roll-NWS link, right? Now what about crosswind takeoffs that, depending on the module, might require rudder/NWS against the wind and and aileron into the wind? These would become practically impossible with such an option enabled (while certainly still being tricky without rudder pedals - and even with them as well ). And then there are aircraft that turn on the ground via differential braking. How would that work? The beauty of using a modifier for the rudder axis is that it's a thing players can set up with no modification to DCS whatsoever. -
IT WAS THE MOTHERF***ING CPU!!!!!! Holy sh*t boys, that was the most arduous bout of troubleshooting I have *ever* done in my entire life. It passed literally every single test I thew at it, including prime95, handled every single other application flawlessly and without a single hiccup. After almost 2 solid months of troubleshooting, replacing 1k usd worth of components one-at-a-time (thankfully amazon is letting me return them, hopefully I get all my money back) I finally found it tonight. Now I just have to wait for an actual replacement CPU to arrive tomorrow, since the one I tested with tonight was the cheapest AM5 socket CPU I could find. I genuinely don't know what I could have done to find this sooner, but hopefully if someone else has a similar issue down the line they can save themselves the suffering that I've just went through. Now I'm just gonna do a clean windows reinstall once again to make sure that no traces of the (dozens) of different driver sets I've downloaded will conflict lol.
