I might not be the expert in AIM-120 since I never used F-15 in combat with LO/FC but I can tell U it's an ARH missile meaning that it has two stages and during the first stage of it's flight pilot must obtain a lock. There should be a counter in the lower right hand corner of the HUD telling pilot TTA (time to active). That's a remaining time to AMRAAM autonomy. I saw that watching Real life F-16 HUD tapes when pilot used AIM-120 against drones. I belive things are similar with F-15 IRL. Dunno if that's modelled correctly in LO/FC but when AMRAAM goes autonomous you can freely turn away from any incoming missiles or bandits leaving AMRAAM on it's own to find desired target. However, lots of people complain on general F-15 performance and the way it's featured in LO/FC, and automatically AMRAAM's capabilities and behaviour is in doubt here. On the other hand russian AMRAAMSKI or R-77 is also modelled hypothetically so don't expect 2 much realism here. Perhaps GGTharos and Ironhand might help U more on this subject! Поднимается тормозной щиток Су-27 и 150 ватт звука обрушиваются на окружающих: обслуживающий персонал аэродрома и зеваки, подняв руки, начинают двигаться в такт музыке. Рядом МиГ-29 с телескопическими стойками танцует с помощью гидравлики... Драйвер разрисованного аэрографом Су-25 на потеху толпе выпускает карбоновые закрылки... Но вот в торце ВПП становятся два самолета. Крутые перцы гремят прогазовкой двигла, аппараты напряженно цепляются за ВПП низкопрофильными пневматиками, обрамляющими титановые диски, в попытке устоять на месте. Местами одетая девушка с большим клиренсом, стоя перед аппаратами, дает старт. Рывком РУДы становятся на упор полного форсажа, отпущены тормозные колодки, сопла двигателей сужаются, готовясь изрыгнуть пламя форсажного факела. Пилотов вдавливает в кресло, стремительно растет скорость, сужается поле зрения и уносящиеся назад плиты ВПП сливаются в единую прямую, оставляя позади местами обуглившуюся, а местами покрывшуюся аппетитной корочкой девушку...

  6. Just get HL and Teamspeak. That will let you speak to others while online and anything else you need will be much easier to tell you. (provided you have a microphone) For your first HL experience, I suggest joining the TuAF II A2G server.

  8. ^^^^ Under that description, IR weapons aren't really F&F either - the only thing that prevents them from being used at longer ranges is the lack of a datalink. AIM120's in LOMAC will go active about 7nm from their target. If you're about that far from your target (even a little farther) you pretty much have fire and forget ability ... in real life, an AMRAAM will go active at around 13nm against a fighter-sized target.

  9. IR seeker missiles are the only real fire&forget weapons - There is nothing more to do for you after release, no support required at all. R-77 and AIM-120 are not fully F&F capable weapons, because they need to get additional guidance for a considerable part of the travel distance before their built-in 'mini radar' is able to pick up a target. After this point, the missiles becomes fully autonomous.

  11. According to Stimson's Introduction to airborne radar, an AESA has indeed this advantage over a PESA system that it can provide multiple sub apertures with multiple steerable beams. These can have different frequencies. In a PESA you have one transmitter / receiver, after each radiating element you have a phase shifter. This way you get - one - extremely agile beam, so that through time-sharing you can interleave A2G with A2A or do some TWS on multiple targets. In the AESA you have many T/R modules directly after the radiating elements. No more single point-of-failure and the ability to have multiple beams. Of course the computing demands are a magnitude higher, for the reasons cited by DarkWanderer. FOV is always limited to 120°, but of course you could mount many arrays. AESA is certainly the technology to go, but this doesn't mean that any AESA radar today is better than the best PESA or MSA. The Eurofighters' Captor MSA radar e.g. is more performant than the Rafale's PESA. My guess is the Su-35 PESA on a mechanical disk will yield a VERY powerfull beast with quite a good FOV. And it is way less complex to build today than a full AESA. A very good transitional solution for what is meant to be a transitional jet.

  12. New version with IFF fo locked rarget what is new 2.1.3: IFF (Identify Friend Foe) of the locked target if you have selected the BVR CAC or LNG Modus. In the NAV Screen there will be shown now alway a rectangle beside the heading value. If there is a diagonal cross inside the rectangle you have locked a friend and if the rectangle is complete filled you have locked a foe. Because of a bug in lockon this info will also be shown if the TD box is near the target. For this feature you have to change the lua-script in your export folder. Fixed wrong value for runway heading Oktyabroskoje 338 to 238. Missing lgLcdLibWrapper.dll in previous versions is now include in this. zip-file Downlaod: 2.1.3

  13. The P-51, ME-109 and the Spitfire completed its technological life years ago, that does not stop them from being great looking aircraft. Besides, after years of being cover in hydraulic fluid, oil, fuel and grease. After being cut, bruise, beaten and abuse by that aircraft. I have so many scars on my head from "viper bites" Panels, door, hell even a AIM-9 did not like the way the skin on my skull look and decided to rearrange it. I have been under that thing fixing something longer than I know my son. I have been beaten into submission and I have no choice but to love those stupid F-16.

  14. Mod by urze. GG has right. You want a simulation? Put same number of buttons as on real HOTAS. This is made in that way not without reason. Whole team and test pilots decided what should be placed on stick and collective. Anyone has the charts of Ka-50 HOTAS?

  16. In the same line of thinking as the post about the joystick files, I decided to make a suggestion of my own, but at a different level. Reading all the forums, I find that my gamer "profile" is not too often encountered online, but must be a BIG part of the sim audience: I like to describe myself as a serious but casual simmer. What does that mean? I like everything about simulators, I watch all the shows about planes and boats and all of that on Discovery, I know all the planes and weapon systems, my friends and family consider me a geek but... I do not have the time to play maybe more than 4 to 8 hours per week. Result: I do not play online because I am nowhere near the level of people playing there, yes I am still struggling in dogfights against the AI even just set at "good", etc. However, when we are talking about a game's difficulty level, does that mean that I want unlimited fuel, easy flight model, and approaching a Patriot SAM site that behaves like a blind Hawk site? Of course not, because then I lose all the immersion factor! Therefore, my suggestion to the developpers, and I am not sure how easy it is to do that, is to make the difficulty scalable, but NOT by removing the realism that differentiates sims from arcade games. Suggestions: create shortcuts to complicated procedures: - Have an auto-hover button; - Have an intelligent label system (to facilitate spotting); - Have multiple levels of difficulty for campaigns: for example, at the easy level, less SAM sites spawn, I'm fighting a 2 ship CAP instead of 4 ships, I have more fighter cover, etc... NOT the AI behaving like an idiot because I set it on easy. I hope that this makes sense, and helps. Happy flying! Ian

  18. Less modability? Do you have any mod installed? Over last two years freelance modders have achived more then DCS. Their "breaking the rule" is what keeps this game alive. Without modability and freaks that mendle around and users that support them there would be no great skins, terains, models and utilities. But, I guess you are neither user of mods or supporter. We need modability, but it has to be contolled by the server, as in any other game. @=2IAE=MetoBG: I'm sorry, my fault not to include that option :( Please do not hold that against me. In fact, to reflect the real life more properly, I would rather replace Su-25T with some other aircraft that is more widely used, but such suggestion would not receive warm welcome. No matter which one gets replaced - oh well, even changed in mod - I would like that those codes for variable sweep could be available to the modders. That will not make any X-wing. Just variable wing. But then, I didn't expect much of a support. Just take a lok at J-10 thread... Rick made such a great job, and half of the replies go like "make F-15" or straight OT :(

  19. If you were around MP pre/post 1.1 you wouldn't say that it was careless. Hardcoding weapons was at request from the MP community who was sick to death of being splashed by a Mica carrying MiG-29A. Just as I did then, I still applaud ED for doing this. Less modability = Less X-wings, Tie fighters and sharks with frickin laserbeams in the Lockon world.

  21. They still have rather poor acceleration compared to some falcon mods. Lomac f-15 has decent speed characteristics if you skip loading it up with weapons ;)

  22. I've seen that vid before - it's a combination of an extremely agile chopper and an unbelievably talented pilot. The Bo105 is, if anything, more agile than the Ka50 . . . . it's smaller, lighter, no targeting systems, cannon, armour . . . . I'm reluctant to fly that way even in Black Shark with a chopper that isn't real! There are forests with clearings that you can duck in and out of, yes. Flying NOE in the Ka50 can be fantastic fun ;) . . . it also showcases the Ka50's damage model . . . because you ARE going to crash while practicing. Lots :D

What can I say man, I did what I did, it worked well for me, and there was no risk of loosing something (F15) out of sight which was already scratched in prior by the "cannon" and have one engine smoking, or pieces of tail or wing missing, secondly I stated that my speed was "about" 500, which is also true if my speed was 450 or 420, with your vitamin enriched... I was having some Red Bull..., Do you think I'm making up the story? All I wanted is to share my portion of adrenaline with guys... and all this is about having balls to attempt to do something new, something unknown, not everyone is experienced as you are... and I wasn't thinking about the outcome, any outcome was good for me, everything was for fun anyway. When U make cobra in lomac ur speed stay the same through whole execution off the maneuver, While in Real flight u would obviously lose speed, which could help in some situations, Don't tel me that u never been in Positions where u wished that ur plain could go just a lite bit slower. u need to judge bandits speed when making cobra if ur bandit have a lot off energy it can be suicide, but when both plains are on their maximum AOA I believe it could save ur day.

  26. Wrong understanding of the principle. AESA array does not mean 10000+ mini-radars, it's one radar with many emitters that gives the ability to redirect the beam electronically - without turning the antenna. So, roughly, it just can track any number of targets (limited by processing equipment) inside the cone of 120 degrees. Something like TWS, but with about 10^3 passes per second.

Давайте не доходить в своих стремлениях до абсурда! Никогда еще запретами (и теми, которые Вы требуете) не добивались ничего существенного. Упереться и не слышать собеседников несложно. Может быть стоит поискать компромис? Или Вас не интересуют мнения других? По поводу засорения - пока-что больше всего мусора в ветке вижу именно от Вас.

  30. The crowd looks realy good TOMCATZ. I have a question though about the number of LODs if any? Has any one tried grouping static object into one like those groups of objects that make up SAM sites, found in meinit.xml.? If that's posible than the crowd could be divided into 5 or more object, each with it's own LOD box.
