  1. So why are we still debating? :D It's well worth it no matter what the cost ;)

  2. Exactly. 50 bucks seems to match the PC game price in the UK where you pay even more for a new console game for your crap-Box or Piss-2.

  3. This was being discussed late last night and the last message I can find stated that Russian version owners should wait for the ED team to advise if we needed to uninstall that version before installing the English version. Having just got back from work I have searched and not been able to find the answer... Can anyone point me to the answer please? That is, do I need to unistall my Russian version before installing the English one, and if so, which files should be kept and transfered across? (i.e. pilot log, joystick profile etc, etc) Sorry to be a pain, but I want to convert over to the English version but dont want to lose data in the process if I can help it. I'm sure the answe to a fundemental question like this is here somewhere but cant seem to find it. Maybe EB this could be added to the FAQ for others and delete this thread? Kind Regards Gary

  4. Tacview 0.93c has been released: IMPROVED: 'Too huge' flight recordings can now be loaded (unnecessary data is now discarded) ADDED: Notification when the flight recording has been optimized and should be re-saved (also work on non bugged files) FIXED: Minor bugs in the GUI http://tacview.strasoftware.com/

  5. The Russian and International versions are separate products, and transfer of existing material that was created by ED from one to the other should be done only with the express permission of ED.

  6. No! -you have no clue at all... -It's because Vista is too advanced for the common users, and up to now no hardware manufacture took the time to build a PC that rally fits to the needs of Microsoft. And who needs third party software developers when you have a running Vista setting...?!

  7. Here's how I fly normally. Autopilot on with Bank, pitch and heading. (prefer not to use alt hold). Flying to waypoint etc? with "R" Route mode. With manouvers I hold trim until manouver is complete and then release it. recenter stick and retrim. Shark will fly perfect again. Note: make sure you note your rudder input, since trimmer works for rudder too.

  8. You should really always fly with the autopilot on. There is really no reason not to (unless maybe you just like the feeling of being punished). When you turn by banking, you also need to coordinate the turn using the pedals. If you don't, then when you come out of the turn (stop banking) you will be pretty far out of trim and still sideslipping, which you'll need to fix by banking the opposite direction.

  10. Sovien, How I understand it, when ever you make movements with the controls you should press the trim key until you are back to a stable flight , or desired flight. I have my trim key mapped to the pinky switch on the X52 and it works well so far. I also find hovering is much easier by pressing and releasing the trim key until I am in a stable hover. Almost like in hover mode with out the hover mode being engaged. I hope this helps. Bullet

  11. The reason why you are fighting the controls is because you did not retrim directly after changing direction. As long as you do not retrim the autopilot/flight control system assumes that you want to hold your original heading etc. and it takes actions to bring you back on that course. Trimming does not only fix the new position of your controls, it also tells the autopilot that you want to hold the current flight parameters. So either trim directly after changing direction, or even better, push the trim button for the duration of your maneuver and release it after you have set the new flight parameters. As long as the trim button is pressed the autopilot's stabiliziation function is disabled, and once you release the button the new flight parameters are stored.

  13. Yoda, is your TrackIR working now? If not, try to install BS on same HDD as TrackIR. Sounds "stupid" but give it a try.

  14. :D I found that to be correct. When I used rudder to spin around, once I let go, I continued to spin in that direction. I had to rebalance with rudder in the opposite direction. I guess what I was envisioning was more like the BF-109. Have you ever flown a half-way decent simulation of it? You must apply constant rudder to counteract the torque since there is no rudder trim if you want to keep it on the ball. This is what I imagined would be the case in Ka-50. What I should have done was thought of the P-38! This is true. I wasn't aggressive.

  16. GTATC (Ground Troops Aviation Training Center) would like to recognize TUSLER as the first pilot to be GTATC Ground School Qualified (GSQ). In order to be GSQ'd, candidates must complete 12 written exams (240 questions) that cover the entire flight manual. Task standards are to finish each exam 90% correctly. Please join me in congratulating TUSLER. SunDown

  19. Full screen switch isn't turned on by default, however it may look like fullscreen when game resolution is the same like desktop's. Without that switch turned on, FPS are locked to max of 30. At least, that was so for me. You may try to decrease DirectX pre rendered frame count, if you think that rendering effects control responsiveness. NVIDIA has this setting in its control panel. Unfortunately I don't remember if ATI permits to change it via CCC. If not, try ATI Tray Tools, the setting is called "Flip Queue".

  21. Time for a reality check - Go to your favorite software store and see how many study simulations of this caliber are on the shelf for you to choose from........ The answer is not many. Why? Because the return on X-Box, Nintendo and Wii games is much higher due to the fact that their lack of realism is cheaper to develop and their simplistic game-play appeals to a much broader market - meaning $$$$ for the companies that invest in their development. Software development takes time and costs money, particularly a simulation with this amount of detail. You simply can't have it both ways, if you want simulations like these to flourish and expand with future additions. If there isn't a viable retail market that supports them they will simply go the way of the Jane's Longbow series and so many others. If you complain about how long you have to wait only to complain about how much it costs, you won't have anything else of this caliber to wait for in the future because it simply won't be developed. This is a fantastic simulation that offers a great deal to this community, $upport ED and 1C and hopefully this will be the first of many great simulations we will have the choice to experience in the DCS series. my 2 cents

  25. If they had never let us download the RU version in the first place, we would never have known how much it cost. So IMO just feel lucky they even let you download the RU version to begin with.

  26. I would definitely argue that using the 25 on a Ka-50 is 'wrong'. ;) The real military thinks its too dangerous as well. The missile should require designation all-the-way, and if it loses designation from far away, it should have a large CEP (ie. if your target is small, it will likely not hit it). The Kh-25 was never meant to be used.

  27. Kh-25ML can be used in 2 ways: "fire and forget" and "guide to target" Fire and forget. No need to switch to laser designator mode. When you lock target with Shkval, count down timer will start. While it runs, laser is working and you may launch Kh-25ML. If timer reaches zero, missile will continue its flight by itself inertically. You may reactivate the timer by pressing AUTO LOCK. If your target is building or area (like SAM site) you may wait 1-2s after launch and turn away, missile will hit. However, if you need to hit something small or moving (especially moving) you will have to guide missile all the way (see below). "Guide to target". You will need to continuously illuminate the target when it is small or moving object. If range to target is small (<3km), you may use laser range finder mode as timer won't reach zero before hit. If range is large, you will need to switch to laser designator mode, because it will give maximum possible laser time. Illumination is activated with AUTO LOCK button and can be interrupted with laser designator reset button (near laser mode switch). In case of possible overheat, you will see "ПАУЗА" (PAUSE) on the HUD, when let the laser to cool. Well, I don't know if this is correct. Maybe Kh-25ML shouldn't be guided without switching laser to designator mode, however it now works in both modes. Maybe developers can answer if it is correct?
