  1. How long has it been since a company manned up and created a study sim from scratch, 5 years? longer? I don't know, I can't remember the last one (maybe falcon 4????). I would just like to thank you for bringing back a long lost genre, a genre i grew up with which sparked my interest as a young boy to play computer games, imagine being 12 and having the opportunity to fly "just like the real guys do" having to master an aircraft! This is what playing a "game" is about. anyway i have really missed this type of PC software, thank you to everyone who helped in its creation, from the programmers to the beta testers. THANK YOU! -shady

:) Perekrestok v.1.0.1.miz

  3. Открываю тему группового пилотажа на Ка-50. Начали освоение, есть ряд сложностей, связанных, в основном, с переучиванием после самолётов, но это вопрос времени. Начало положено:

  5. Flying this puppy is a breeze for me! On my first flight I was able to stable hover, land, side-slip, slalom between buildings...everything. DAMN this whirly-bird can maneuver! And before you ask, YES I'm on realistic settings!:P Okay, I admit, I DO have around 10 hours RL time in Schweizers...and I primarily fly helos in FSX. But to all of you guys that aren't into Helicopters, you REALLY want to give this a try. The FM in Black Shark is VERY VERY VERY impressive. I don't think I've ever gotten such a good representation of rotary-winged flight out of a sim. It just "feels" so right. And don't give up learning how to fly this beast. It's no Su-25, that's for sure. It's an entirely different kind of flying, altogether... ;)

  8. Is there any *.crash file in your BS temp folder? Try starting the game with a low desktop resolution like 800x600 and 60 Hz of refreshrate.

  13. Same with 3rd after first two fail, and 4th after three engines fail and etc ... I am coming to a conclusion that B-52 is doomed after the first engine fails. :music_whistling: :smilewink:

  14. BlackShark is unfriendly to limited user accounts Hello, I really like this simulation but I have one complaint. I'm using my Windows XP copy as a limited user (i.e. not with Administrator rights). Therefore, DCS:BlackShark is unable to write in its own Folder under C:\ProgramFiles. I had to manually adjust the permissions of files and folders in the BlackShark folder using ProcessMonitor. This was quite a surprise for me, as all the other recent games I own are programmed in a way so that they create their temporary and user specific files in the C:\Documents and Settings\%user% folder hierarchy and therefore don't need administrator rights. So, EagleDynamics, please consider making your future games limited user account friendly. Thanks

  15. Every joystick has standard software interface, that's why every joystick works in every game. For now there is no standard for head tracking devices software interface. We were going to add vendor-independent SDK in English release to allow every head tracking vendor (including FreeTrack) implement support of their devices for BlackShark. SDK has been removed from English release because of NaturalPoint request. Now we make agreement with NaturalPoint and we will release 3DOF version of our head tracking SDK soon.

  17. There was, FreeTrack lost all the way. EDIT: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33780 EDIT2: And BTW, as long as protecting their work is normal and to be expected as far as headtracking technology is not patented it can go as far as not allowing others to use their API. But forbiding to implement any other product is non fair competition. And links that Quarrion pasted here are fully understandable here. If I lived in US I'd make good use of them. I'm really surprised that ED accepted this NP ramp. How'd you feel if you could use joysticks only manufactured by Saitek and none made by CH? It's exactly the same situation. As long as none of these companies holds patent rights to joystick itself (not to mention that patents on such things are bad for free market).

  19. The fact that that is the question is what upsets me the most. If one of two engines fails, chances of the other engine failing are MUCH higer than the only engine failing on a single engine aircraft. Yes, it is there as a backup, and if it is possible to use it to safely land the plane, by all means it should be done. It's safer for the pilot than the ejection anyway. But if one engine has failed, that means that something is failing on the airplane. The root of the problem might not be in the failed engine, and the failures could easily propagate to other systems, including the other engine. So, an aircraft with a failed engine should be directed away from populated areas, while it is still possible.

  20. 2. Have you seen Glide? It's huge, nobody dared to reverse engineer it, and x86 is patented. The only protection the TrackIR interface has is an NDA. 3. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=33510 4. All head tracking solutions have the right to compete at a game interface level if they so choose.

  21. Crappy plane .. I hope ED forget about it! Just to balance this thread out ;) ... couldn't care less about the A10 ... have an A10 in Lomac and haven't touched it, nor have I got even the slightest twinge of a desire to fly that crappy plane (subjective perception obviously not universally shared :D). If you want a good CAS jet .. do the Harrier. Even the yanks use the Harrier.

  22. G'day all, Got the english version. Completely and utterly stoked! Had a really interesting flight last night. I loaded up a single mission called "Death Valley". I have to say it was one of the best experiences I have had in any flight sim ever.... At one stage I was head on with an avenger which was spewing 50cal and IRM's at me. I was trying my best to keep buildings between him and I as I rapidly closed the distance between us at 150 kph. Eventually I became close enough to engage him so I switched to cannon and popped up over a 4 story building spraying a good twenty 30 mike mike rounds his way. I saw a few good hits resulting in the engine block bursting into flames. At that point i was jinxing with my foot hard on right rudder. As I straightened up there was the roof of a building right in front of me, I tried to pull her up but my right vikhr pod struck a vent on the top throwing me into a wild spin. I get Nadia nagging me with a master caution so I check my systems and notice some stabilisation modes are offline, I have a loss of hydraulic power and my Shkval is also offline. I'm able to limp her home and set her down without any probs bar the gear not coming down :( I was simply amazed at the collision model when i collected that vent. I was sure i would burst into flames straight away as per the lock on engine. In conclusion Black Shark is sex.

  25. What about checking to see if there is any interest for a DCS sub forum called *Cadet's lounge* or something.... A forum for training and advice to beginners of the ka50? Otherwise I'll start posting 100 threads on why i crash all the time :helpsmilie: perhaps it would be good if there was some motivation for either way also

  28. So, paraphrasing your words... Do you understand how ridiculous that statement, along with yours is? Military pilots are checked out in emergency procedures (EPs) yearly. We take EP exams, and have to perform all critical action procedures (CAPs) in the simulator. We even fly with an IP in the back of the family model and do EPs in the aircraft. Amongst the EPs we perform is a single-engine approach and landing. We're proficient in these maneuvers BEFORE we're allowed to solo the jet. Miramar NAS has been around since the 1940's and, ironically enough, there's a school named after a navy pilot who stayed with his aircraft to avoid hitting a school. But you've got to remember that in those days, aircraft were flown with physical control over the flight surfaces. In the hornet, if you've got no engines, don't have windmilling RPM sufficient to generate hydraulic power, or rapidly deplete what's left in the accumulators, you have very little - if any control of the aircraft. As IvanK said, there's no way in hell a bug with one fully operational engine is underpowered at sea level on a southern California December day. You don't just eject from the aircraft because it lost an engine. If that were true, then why the hell put 2 engines in a jet? So we can scratch our balls before we decide to punch out? The pilot tried to recover his aircraft, single-engine. The aircraft lost thrust while on approach. That leaves few options, especially if the aircraft is beyond control. If we closed down every airport - and I do mean AIRPORT not USAF/USN/USMC base - whose flight paths take them over populated areas, then so long every major airport you've ever flown into.

  29. Everything is included. ED just added a disclamer about possible Vista-related issues when playing the large campaign, based on some of the testing results. You may not even experience any issues, depending on your machine and game settings, but just in case, ED warned you ahead of time.

  30. Version 2 Here's version 2 of my tube-style Shkval mod. This time I made the screen a little rounder. The effect is subtle yet noticeable. Also available this time is a grey version for those that don't like the older green style. Just overwrite the INTERLEAVE.bmp file in the TempTextures folder. Don't forget to backup the old file fiirst just in case you don't like it. Enjoy! Curved Screen Shkval Green.rar Curved Screen Shkval Grey.rar

  31. What a load of crap ! The Hornet has exemplary performance on one engine, and one of the easiest aeroplanes to fly in the assymetric condition ! Sure if you get super super slow you can run out of directional control .... just like every multi engined aircraft on the planet
