Yes, I would have to agree with that statement provided they have the specs to run it. I guess there can be some obstacles and hurdles but in the end its worth it.1 point

So can we say with high confidence that anyone who thinks BS is not worth it and not a good/interesting game/sim (and they haven't tried it) would definitely change their mind once they get it and try it out? :)1 point

Dear Sir I see you are from Italy. In May of this year I participated in the European Sailing Championships of the Contender sailing Dinghy. It was in Punta Ala in Tuscany. A wonderful event with typical Italian kindness and hospitality. Each night, my wife and I ate in the local Italian restaurant, and the bill for the meal, includng an excellent bottle of Italian wine, cost Euro 50.00. Two hours of pleasure. The cost of DCS:Black Shark will give you hundreds of hours of pleasure.1 point

We all have our opinion, that is natural. For just the pure feeling of flight, I have always loved the feel of flight in the Flanker series and have never liked Falcon 4 because like many have expressed the feel of flight was too artificial. This is certainly NOT the case about Open Falcon 4.5 IMO. I fly it with HiTiles (payware) and the amount of enhancements done to this sim to make it what it is today is spectacular. One just CANNOT compare Open Falcon 4.5 to F4AF or even to Red Viper IMO; F4AF is a toy compared to Open Falcon - chalk and cheese. For me Open Falcon 4.5 is currently the premier Jet Sim that has the right balance of feeling of flight immersion, complex/realistic avionics/systems which allow practice of procedural practice and of course there is the persistent AI world albeit with warts it still has enough going for it to make it great to interact with. Open Falcon 4.5 gives me the immersion in a Jet Sim environment that I haven't experienced in spades since DI's Tornado. I've always wanted Flanker 2.5 & Lock On to take that place for me, but I feel that what I have as far as avionics and the immersive environmental mix is missing. As far as damage modeling ... well every sim I know is deficient in that area with IL2 & X-Plane being notable exceptions in that area. In the end it's a personal thing that makes us hold dear to a flight simulation experience ... I haven't flown DCS yt, so I have no opinion of DCS yet. I'll be getting the boxed versions, because my dl speed is very slow, and I will primarily be getting DCS because I want DCS to succeed ... I want this damn helo to fly well financially, if only to get my jet ... a real jet, not a pretend jet like the A-10 ... an F-16 would be great, even an F-18 if you really have to .. an SU-27 would be superb and a Tornado or Harrier would be bliss. Cheers!1 point

There is actually more truth here than you may realize, but the immersion factor doesn't come in graphics or button mashing or cockpits (although we love them, DCS is right there).. It boils down to the basic philosphy difference between , say DCS and Falcon. when it comes to falcon's main strength and, in my opinion, why it is so enduring. in the end Falcon 4.0 was the complete package. The Plane and the War, and with the many mods it only got better on the Plane side :) By now you can see half of the endearing of Falcon 4.0 is its dynamic War simulation. I highly recommend reading the Appendix in the F4.0 manual. The idea behind it is truly amazing and unique in the sim genre. DCS on the other hand is not so much about the Ka-50 combat experience, or learning how to be the helicopter pilot in a larger war. Its more focused on the helicopter itself, while at the same time providing some great play grounds to go and test your skills. at this DCS has succeeded in every way. To say either one is the most detailed sim ever is a stretch, but i will say that Falcon is probably one of the defactor standards by which all sims for the next 30 years will be compared to. Even Armed Assault should probably be looked at as far as Sim detail goes, it may not do everything as physically accurate, but tends to simulate the battlefield pretty well. (and TrackIR + ArmA is awesome!) As more DCS modules are added on, i can only hope that the experience will move the detailed aircraft to a way that we can move the experience beyond graphics, button switching and cockpits and into really getting that War experience :) i think this quote sums it up best from the F4.0 manual appendix When we can combine the DCS high fidelity Aircraft with Falcon 4.0's combat experience.. That will probably be the Holy Grail of simulations. Especially considering DCS is moving towards adding more aircraft and helos. Getting those into a great experience together will be key to rounding of this already great Sim. :smartass:1 point

That's very nice, having the pictures is extremely helpful for those who are not totally familiar with the cockpit layout yet. I do have a few suggestions, though... You never turn on the batteries. That should be #1 and #2. If using external power, that's fine, make that an optional #3 and #4, but you still need ot turn the batteries on first. Your engine RPM numbers are incorrect, the gauge reads in percent, not thousands. For example, your numbers should read 18%, 70%, etc. Switch #39 is already on when you get in the aircraft, so if you change it, you're actually turning the main hydraulics OFF. Switch #40 is not implemented, but it doesn't hurt to turn it on anyway, I suppose. :) Switches #41 and #57 do basically the exact same thing. #41 is used when you are doing things on the ground and do not intend to take off (testing, maintenance, etc.). If you are going to go fly, #57 is the only switch you need to turn on, and #41 can be left off (although if you do both, I don't think anything bad happens). You never turn on the fire extinguishing system, it would fit nicely between #7 and #8. You seem to shut off the APU by just shutting off the fuel valve. Although the game may be okay with that, in reality that is a good way to bust the APU. You should shut it off with the shutoff button on the engine control panel, and once it's spinning down (EGT falling, etc.) THEN turn off the APU fuel shutoff valve. Great job!1 point

Hello, I think that delta + canard design is something specific to Swedish design features. Besides, one of the basic requirements made by Swedish Air Force was that planes should be STOL capable and the canard design is the best one to achieve this without compromising the aerodynamic smoothness and maneuverability. This design provides more lift, because both canards and wings both produce a positive (upwards) lift. I'd like to correct your opinion about thinking that deltas with canards require some extra attention regarding fly-by-wire system; in fact, for instance on the Gripen, the canards work as a de-stabilizer in order to make the aircraft more maneuverable and responsive. If canards go afloat, the aircraft actually becomes naturally stable.1 point

Taking my first flight of four high in to the mountains "On the other side". These campaign missions are so much fun. I enjoyed flying through the mountains before the big attack, although I ended up getting shot down a bit later; stupidly strayed too close to some kind of SAM launcher.1 point

QFT x 100 You have no idea just how much you move your head around needlessly until you try TrackIR. I never had much problem with it at first, beyond the fact that every pre-set that came with it was far, far less sensative than what I wanted. I had to set things to a very steep curve to get what I was looking for. Funny how much humans tends to hate when others are successful, huh? If things like Freetrack work, I guess NaturalPoint did a pretty bad job of "locking the customers" to "milk their money". So is every company who sells a product at a premium over the do-it-yourself version a rip off? I just fail to understand logic like this. If you think you can do better than NaturalPoint, there is nothing stopping you. But its easier to just say they're a monopoly while ironically that "monopoly" continues to be succesful, right? Its not a question of "making it without them" its a fact that I don't care to look elsewhere. If you're looking at a $200 piece of hardware and you honestly think that this is so expensive that you find building your own is a legitamate alternative, flight simming is not for you. Because you probably won't want the PC you'll have to build/buy and the HOTAS+Rudder pedals needed to fully enjoy them. In fact...you may just want to read a book. I have yet to see any hobby that doesn't have its fair share of expensive toys for those who want to take it seriously. If you have some sort of moral problem with it, I sure hope you're running a Linux machine and not using your FreeTrack on Windows -- if it would even work on Linux... ;) Yeah, and they also look like that Mr. Moneybags guy from the Monopoly board game too. :lol:1 point
