  2. Alright. I guess you understand that this would happen only when the missile range is bigger than the radar lock range. Because if the radar locks its target before missile is in Дрмакс, there is no difference in the moment of missile launch. Let's turn to the source. During flights there appeared the real meaning of "E" letter of R-27R(T)E, based on LA distances. It turned to be "Export", not "Energetic", as they've been thinking. In reality it almost equalized chances of Su-27 and MiG-29 in BVR fight. The advantage of Su-27 in allowable time of launch of missiles like R-27 from Su-27 and MiG-29 during mutual head-on attack was around 1-2 seconds, instead of presumed 5-7 seconds. "Допустимое время пуска" cannot be understood precisely even in Russian, because it's semantically incorrect. You can presume that he's talking about period of illumination time, or he's talking about the moment when "LA" appears, i.e. the range. And we can see that he is talking about missiles and their range! Saying that "E" missile didn't provide a significantly longer Дрмакс range. That's what they had discovered during flights. That's why they found no advantage. Now if we open the manuals for the Su and Mig, we will see that both of them have the same amount of time when radar illuminates the target after launch. It's 60 seconds. Regardless missile type, whether it is R-27R or ER. If we dig more, we will see that "export" part in the missile name is not the "E", it's "1". R-27R1, R-27ER1. While "E" means larger motor. The man looks like he's a professional maintenance technician, but not in what concerns weapons systems, and he's even farther from their tactical usage. Lemme argue again by reading another part of text. On the next day the foe decided to catch up the Su-27 flying CAP, and when this CAP was almost over, they sent a MiG-29 in the direction of Ethiopian capital. Ground station found the target at a big altitude and started guiding Su-27, tail number 58. It was happening almost like in training until last minute, when ground station found another MiG-29 flying low. It suddenly began targeting Su-27. To Sukhoi's pilot's honor, despite warning from the ground and later the Beryoza warble, signaling of his plane's lock by the enemy an presumable launch on him, he managed to aim and fire 2 R-27T in a very short period of time, and they hit the target. Eritrean pilot Yonas died. Second enemy plane saw his wingman's pieces falling, urgently bugged out and returned to his airbase. Because of low fuel, Su-27 had to return too. After landing he had about 200 kg of fuel, less than half of allowed remaining amount. Thorough evaluation of this fight showed that Su-27 pilot wasn't shot down only because he fully applied the Su-27 advantage, having somewhat bigger allowed launch distance (these 2 seconds!!!) and in this case the higher flying speed. Do i have to write that R-27T is a fire-and-forget missile, it does not use radiocorrection. The radar can be used here only to point the missile in the target direction, and LA appears when missile seeker locks onto the target. Now think, what kind of "Su-27 advantage" and "2 seconds" he is talking about. You see? Making such conclusions is not a strong part of him, given all the credits to his knowledge of ground servicing, his evidence of those events, and our recognition to his writing of this article. For the dessert, think how could it happen - 1 plane uses R-27(E)T, while its opponents for some reason don't use R-27R in advance. Let me remind you that, for MiG, pessimistic target lock range of a 3 sq.m target, head-on aspect, is 40 km, by the manual. While detection range is 50-70. That's why i decided to stress it out. When the author talks about both sides, he is speculating, because he obviously doesn't know the details from the other side. Judge the sources thoroughly. This information is TOTALLY new and quite detailed. The other sources of several years old were talking a very different thing, like almost 100% R-27 misses, and all kills made by R-73.

  3. Some people are just willfully ignorant. All he wants to do is live in the past and tell the world that because his country shot down 1 stealth aircraft, his country is #1. I always thought of Belgrade as America's Bombing Range and Training Facility for noobs. Thats why they havent sent any B-1B's or B-2A's over there. It was just an unfortunate training accident that got the F-117...maybe even a practical joke presented by the zoomie frat squad to the noob F-117 pilot flying his 10th mission over there because he forgot to warm up the coffee before the flight.

  5. hi all , here is my config and how to for 3 monitors in BlackShark using Kegetys excellent Softh script . I will update this config as it gets better. here is main Softh page with FAQ at the bottom and previous versions ; http://www.kegetys.net/SoftTH/ link to Kegetys's forums , the very 1 st post has a link to version 1.09b ; http://www.kegetys.net/forum/index.php?board=1.0 this is my first attempt and it still needs a little tweaking , but it's damn close to perfect . the view is still a little too close to the front of the cockpit as it stands , probably a view.lua adjustment is necessary or a zoom fix , didn't find out where to edit that yet . in view.lua edit ; CameraViewAngleLimits[PlaneIndex.iKA_50] = {20.0, 120.0} I got it at 220.0 . I get the same frame rates with 3 monitors at 1280x1024 as I did with 2 monitors (Shkval and abris on right monitor) from the quickstart read me ; my Softh.cfg ; So, put the files in your bin/stable folder where the executable is. my options.lua ; settings are pretty much Maxed in there so edit away if bad performance , or use only the graphics part of this options.lua no edit of the ["multiMonitorSetup"] = "1camera", was necessary . setting is fullscreen . Multiplayer update , Softh has a quick key for "squashing" app+S so Multiplayer works fine . I have my desktop same as game resolution. on Vista Ultimate , check my sig for rig details .   9. Should I check the CH boards to find a like post or are you guys simply perfect? I won't bother foraging through looking for any unhappy CH customers as by your measure I am sure they don't exist and all is always perfect for those who choose CH. The Cougar is nowhere near the horror show that you (specifically you) try to imply over and over again on every board. You are far from informing any one by overstating every issue you can find long since resolved or not. The people I really feel badly for are the ones that take your advice. Scare them good and don't let them touch it mate because it feels so much better than a CH and even after many years of use I can present you with any number of perfectly functioning stock Cougars. Best advice I can give to others is to look for themselves and don't take my word for it and certainly do not take your word for it. Truth is for under 10 bucks you can likely address any small issue a stock Cougar may have and enjoy its excellent ergonomics and all metal design for years and years to come. I am sure I can count on you not to let any one know that, right? Out

  10. DPS generally comes up with something side-splittingly funny around Xmas time and April 1st. It kinda reminds me of something I made many years ago when I was an student in Manchester living in a house decorated in a style that I can best describe as late Victorian squalor. We had a mouse problem, so a piece of vero-board (picture below if you dont know what vero-board is) connected straight to the 240v mains - alternate strips live and neutral. A small piece of chees resting on some clingfilm in the centre. The mouse steps onto the vero-board and POW. We found one mouse more than 3 feet away!! True Story. Luckily for the Electronic Engineering world, I moved into Software instead.

  11. Even some TrackIR users find NaturalPoints policy regarding the interface to be monopolism. How can you? Do you have both? Good for you. If you are willing to spend what in my opinion is a shitload of money for something that is not that competitive, you can do so. The part of us who have to rely on a rather finite amount of money to spend on a hobby are able to find a true alternative in FreeTrack. Sry for OT btw :music_whistling:

  14. Have you tried the 8.13ish drivers? I've not much experience with ATI myself but that is a version number I vaguely remember a guy getting success on. It would be very interesting to see what exactly it is ATI has done in the newer drivers that make things act up so much, but ah well. I suspect they won't let us know. :P

  16. Heiliger, I'm not sure what the problem is offhand, but looking at your screenshot it looks like you missed something when you extracted the bitmap. I'll take a look at it tonight.   17. Huaf-74 is preparing utility to manage these files. Until tool's release u have to edit them by example WinHex. These files IIRC only keep the objects placements and coordinates only around the runway.

  18. am Anfang hatte ich damit auch meine Probleme ;) ... stell dir das am besten so vor, das das ABRIS ein megateures Navi ist :joystick: es kann dir zwar sagen, wo du hinsollst, aber du musst schon selber fahren. Du kannst aber in Verbindung mit dem Lasersystem aufgeschaltete Punkte, die du dann ja auch in deinem ABRIS siehst, in dein PVI abspeichern und die dann als Wegpunkt oder Target mit dem Autopiloten anfliegen.

  20. Rewrite half the engine for Dynamic sound? That's pretty ridiculous, unless you're referring to the sound engine specifically; then it's just excessive. Doppler effects or no, the sound engine pretty desperately needs a massive tune up. IMHO, it would add to the immersion more than any improvement other than dynamic AI for ground forces.

Ok, why not try opening the file in Photoshop, make a change (I usually change the bottom centre blue colour to whatever my bottomside heli-skin colour would be) and save as a .bmp file with your "test" name. To be honest, I've never actually tried to install the stock KA-50-Paint1-DEF-03 in a cdds package, I've always modified it and saved as .... Other than that, I'm out of ideas - I've not run into this. Mind you I've never looked over the CDDS report to see what its done, once it say hit any key, well, off I go to the next step ... Maybe there isn't an issue? (OK retract my last comment - obviously there's a problem. Have you taken it all the way and installed to Black Shark to see how your skin looks?)

  23. Как правило DX 10 игры не имеют значительного улучшения визуальной части, а вот по производительности ударяет значительно. Если разработчики пишут шейдеры 2.0 максимум для движка, то смысл в DX 10? OpenGL есть в Vista и Windows 7, но только эмуляция OGL вызовов через библиотеки DX. VirPilot Вода и прочая графика сейчас грузят видео карту, а не процессор. Разработчиками было ясно сказано, что самая большая нагрузка от графической составляющей. Ведь чем выше летишь, тем дальше видишь и тем больше объектов надо отрисовать(LOD спасает ведь частично). Огромное количество объектов, сложный ландшафт, техника, физика. Там вычислений по больше чем в Crysis(с) ;) Насчет количества ядер. Смысла не вижу. Лучше более "частотный" двухъядерный процессор.

  26. The SA-3 is a beam-rider. The tracking radar guides the beam the missile flies in (not the missile itself! ). This system can use an optical backup, allowing the radio beam to be steered using automatic or manual optical tracking of the target with what is basically a telescope (just keep the crosshairs on target! ) instead of the tracking radar. Detonation if the missile is accomplished using a proximity fuze and/or command detonation (At least I believe they use command, but I'm uncertain).

  27. Very intresting post Groove. It's like a goddamn Lion's den in here. Hajduk LO technology is effective, LO increases PK by the dictum of first see, first shot, first kill theory. The USAF's failure to locate and eliminate the SAM batteries combined with the failure of the presence of the CJ's became the ultimate downfall for the F-117. I agree with the USAF's statement that these two factors combined with a lucky combination of low-technology tactics, rapid learning, and astute improvisation had converged in one fleeting instant to enable an SA-3 to of been succesfull. Hajduk with respect the F-117 kill was the proverbial "one in a million". I find the statement "not operating in its normal, radar-guided mode" interesting and confusing because the Low Blow's guidance operates on one frequency, D band, FC and tracking is operated on the I band, what do they mean by "not operating in its normal, radar-guided mode?" was it switching or operating on different frequencies than expected?, was the Low Blow's radar active? It's worth noting that the Low Blow is also able to guide the SA-3 with optics at distances up to 25KM in heavy ECM enviroments, were these optics deployed in this event?. I can find no reference to the optical TV system having infrared capabilities, there is also unconfirmed speculation that the SA-3 has IR terminal guidance. Can anyone define the statement of "not operating in its normal, radar-guided mode?".

I don't think either of the sides in this conflict thought about the others as noobs. NATO was well aware of how dangerous the yugoslavian AD is. Thanks in advance!

  29. You have read repeatedly that Stealth doesn not equal invisibility. Stealth aircraft still have to respect short detection bubles. In this instance it did not, much for tactical errors and combination of circunstances. If you are dependent on tactical errors, and fleeting circunstances to down a single stealth aircraft at a time you migth wisht first to make sure your fighting an airforce with only half a dozen Stealth aircraft or else quit the war before it starts. Its still provides a huge advantage, and your still unlikely to shoot one using outdated equipment. long wave radar will capture anything that reflects electrons but they dont have much ECCM or enough resolution for guidance. As for reading between the lines, I guess your an expert at that, because I dont read stuff that isnt there. O another note F-117 has already been retired.

  31. In BS it can't be done - in LOMAC yes cos there Shkval and Vikhrs were arcade. In real it is also not available due of laser grid IIRC. So unrealistic, but hollywood Vikhrs spamming era ended with LOMAC.

  34. Hi all! I've made a new cockpit reflection mod for the KA-50. The mod does not cause a performance hit since the texture is the "same" as the orginal. The mod is best used with Textures set to High in options. Download HERE for the ModMan install Hope you like it! :thumbup: Regards Lee
