  2. Utilize your Stand-Off Weapons (Vikhrs) to sanitize the HZ and if the situation dictates, engagement at close range with the Cannon/Rockets. The situation will dictate your Engagement Parameters. What you do not want to do is go Head to Head with a ZSU or the like, thinking you can Tango your way clear of the imminent sheet of metal about to appear...........! That said - also important to keep moving, even when engaging from RMAX. That Vikhr launch is spotted a mile away, and if you're sitting there all pretty lining up targets then you're going to get clubbed, especially in a Multiplayer environment. Thing with being the Hunter is that if you're not careful you can turn into the Hunted pretty quickly, especially in the Slow-Mover.......Keeping this in mind during an engagement will pretty much keep you out of trouble most of the time :D

  5. Until you show it, i see myself forced to say, consider yourself happy that paper (or forum background) does not blush. ;) The human body is much more capable of withstanding g-force along the front-back axis than the top-bottom axis. Also, 'eyes in' force can be tolerated better than 'eyes out'.

  6. LOL No need to be rude, man. Tharos is difficult to argue with sometimes ;) but has a great knowledge in the military aviation sphere. About the discussion: There is not a single aircraft that can withstand such huge G`s and i cannot possibly know can they even be achieved with any of the modern fighters. It will surely break apart at this values. The onboard instruments including the hud do not have a scale that can show such high values of G loading. 30-40G can be reached by missiles. The trained pilots can withstand 9 G or even little more for a short time with special suits. It is possible to survive 40G but for a second or less with high possibility of various injuries (such G loading, or even bigger occures in car accidents and a lot of people survive - the lucky ones).

  7. Thanks Panzertard. At least for me the crash seems to be related only to newview, and renaming the folder appears to have fixed the problem entirely - that said I would like to find a more elegant way to fix the problem than disabling the view control for IL2... I actually found your thread when I was searching the forum before starting this one, unfortunately I cant think of a way to help you out - We are both using Windows 7 64 bit, and a saitek X52. The only thing with my installation of win7 is that I have enabled the 'super admin' account, as I was having problems with several programs which worked properly immediately afterwards: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-windows-vista/ I hope you get your problems sorted out soon, I'm loving BS - though I am still pretty awful at, it most of my flights go something like this:  :joystick::pilotfly::joystick::doh::book:.... if that makes any sense.

  8. hey ggtharo, please do not correct people when they know more about a plane then you abviously do. sometimes it is even for you better to not write anything. this what i talk about was recorded on the hud cam, no harder evidence can prove me wrong, not even the biggest dick in the world. the pilot himself did not even realised that he pulled so many g´s. he actually passed nearly out, but the fear of death kept him awake. i am still surching for the tape though

  10. Since I started playing I've seen a bit of frustration here & there due to "bugs" or "problems". I've had a minor share too. It most cases it's in the eye of the beholder, not so much any true "showstoppers". (Note; I don't want to invite to a Copyprotection debate - please refraing from such) ;) In perspective I've come to realize one thing. Since my first babysteps in the Ka-50 I've seen people patiently sitting around waiting for 1.0.1. This game is near "bugfree" if you compare it to other releases out on the market today. Of course, there are features lacking, minor issues with some of the 1,100,000 computer configurations out there. But "major bugs"? QA have done their job! :) I'd like to grant ED +10 kudos for daring to wait and release a almost "complete" package in v.1.0. There's so many other out there who doesn't dare to do the same because of the pressure form the market, economic factors or owners who want to see return of interests :) Thanks ED - and we WILL patiantly wait for you to ensure that the quality in patch 1.0.1 reaches the same standard as in the first release.

  13. Hi LKNANML. I would suggest that you check that the Controls works as intended in two ways. 1. I assume you've check with Control Panel, Game devices, Properties/settings calibration? At least it looks like it's working by the info you provide here, but check it if you haven't. 2. In game, Options, go to the Controls tab. Use the "Ka-50 Real" since this will provide the "Axis"-category dropdown. Find the relevant command - in this case it's collective (choppers). Click the cloumn where your stick is. Click the "Axis Tune". Note: If the axis you expect to find isnt listed there un the correct command and column, just use "Add" and move your throttle and it should be picked up. :) Now you should be able to verify that it is picked up ingame. As for the SST - I dont use it for my x52 pro, so I cant help you with any relevant info there. Im sure someone else can :)

  15. Hahah, yeah Zakk. I saw an awesome survey checking what swedish kids thought was included in the concept of "Human Rights". Having your own room was assumed to be a "Human Right" by a near-majority of younger teens and pre-teens. :D I guess it's a good thing if we have a secure and prosperous enough of a society for kids to assume such things, but it might still exist good cause for a reality check sometimes. And as it stands right now, I'm seeing siblings of mine (there's a 40 year age difference between oldest and youngest :P ) walking around with their cellulars, hooking their computers up to the wifi and generally assuming that their lifes would end if they didn't have those things. Though my parents actually decided to give the youngest one, presently 12, her own cell as a security measure; that way there's better odds of her being able to contact them in case she gets lost or whatever. But she herself seems to think she should have one as a matter of course. And I never had a cellular until I was already in High School. And got my first broadband only after that. I survived the years before those gizmos! But the best example of how skewed perspectives can be was when a kid brother, still in elementary, decided to move out from my dad's place and move in with my mom. Why? She had three times the bandwidth. :D --- And on more related notes, when I was a kid the best there was in simulators was Falcon 3.0. Which is a nice enough sim (I still have the original PC box somewhere, including maps and all that jazz) but compare it to DCS:BS and F3 barely deserves the moniker "arcade". People need to appreciate what we have here, and the complexity of it, and then go out to compare it's stability to other games out there. It's a long time since I saw a product that was this stable at launch, and if ensuring stability in the patch ends up delaying it slightly - that is fair enough. I'd rather wait a while to be sure that it will remain as rock-solid as it is right now, then get a hurried patch that then could end up decreasing stability. In all - keep up the good work ED.

  16. Louis CK is exactly right: How quickly you begin to think the world owes you something! You get to zip around in the most complex military sim of excruciating fidelity the commercial world has ever seen, and because the patch is a few months late, you come on here threatening ED, and by extension the community, with your indifference. You've been here since January, dude. Hey ED: Keep up the amazing work!

  17. +1 We are lucky to be able to bring our thoughts directly to the ED Team. It's the closest you can get to sitting in a ED board meeting. In this day and age, publishing such a product for the PC home user is a huge financial gamble. ED, I'm sure has read all the forums, and cares about the hands that feed them. With the price of your purchase, 39$, you can't even hire a 3D artist for more than an hour. Quality Assurance is VERY complex for this type of application, and if we don't want a troublesome patch, they need to take time. The product is as interesting as what you can put into it. Some find FSX absolutely boring, some find it fascinating, most likely because they know better. I too can't wait for the patch. But I'm waiting, and trying to be constructive in my comments, and maybe see a feature I (we)'ve been waiting for exactly how we requested it via this forum.

  18. I have been an adamant follower of the computer flight sim community for many years and it is absolutely amazing to me how quickly, regardless of the product, some among us become our own worst enemies. Remember the Jane's series? The Falcon series and others? One of the reasons that they are no longer supported by their original companies is because the flight sim community eats it's young, there are constant complaints about the product, due mostly to the 9 million different compatibility issues each of us have with our computers set up, and the producers just throw up their hands and put all their development into arcade X-box games because in this business, you truly can't please everyone all the time. Part of the problem is that we have now become an "instant" society. We want everything yesterday and can't BELIEVE that ANYONE would dare make us wait for ANYTHING!!!! I think this Youtube video says it best - In the mean time, I would like to remind everyone that Black Shark is one of the most intricate and intensive study sims this community has seen for years and one of it's GREATEST accomplishments is that it has been delivered to this community with the fewest glitches and problems of any simulation that I can ever remember. Just think back to the unplayable crash happy state that Falcon 4 was released in to realize what I mean. In the mean time, thanks to all who's hard work on Black Shark have given this community a true simulation which many of us thought we would never see again, in a playable (bug free) state that boggles the imagination for the detail that Black Shark provides. Give them a minute to get it done and if you can't enjoy what you already have, you need to seriously consider that your anxiety is a product of your own doing. ron

  19. All plane have the FM simplified with scripts If you want to try something good try the SU-25T's load 30 % fuel and some aero smoke and you will have the good AFM that all other planes are lacking you have to be gentle with them ;) ... have fun stalling with no scripts ;) !!!!

  20. Good point. Maybe they (incorrectly) treat the TV seeker as a thermal/IR seeker and sun angle ruins the lock. Can you lock the vessels at night?
    1 point
  21. yes, this is a bug... just west of the base there is an area of maybe 1 square km where you can't lock anything. About locking onto a ship... sure can be done but in this regard game is also bit buggy as sometimes I experienced that I can lock same ship with one missile (and I fired at it) but couldn't with second. I think lighting plays a role and certain angles (relation of the sun/ship/missile-seaker) do not work.

  22. try the D's. Not enough image contrast for the K's to lock on. I know you can lock them thermally.

  26. It's not often you will hear someone on the internet admit they were wrong :) The F-111 is certainly among the contenders for the fastest aircraft ever a low level, but I do have to be very sceptical about the 1.7 mach number. What I've seen other places is from about 1.2 to 1.3. And other aircraft which are designed to be really fast at low level (like the Tornado, Su-24 and F-104) max out at around 1.2. That the F-111 should be able to do 0.5 faster than anything else at that low level where the drag is immense sounds unreasonable. Also the official world record at low-level was set by a modified F-104 at 1,590.45km/h, which is around mach 1.3. Of course millitary aircraft don't always compete in such contests, but if they had something which shattered the record then I'm sure they would... I have to be sceptical about mach 3 in a dive too. The temperatures at such speeds is immense, and the few aircraft that can do it have been specially designed to withstand it. After having read quite a bit about the designs of the SR-71 and XB-70 and how they were designed around flying at mach 3, and all of the problems they had to overcome and build into the design to achieve it, it seems really implausible that other aircraft that weren't designed for it can just accelerate or dive to mach 3, just because they have the engine power for it. Admittedly the SR-71 and XB-70 were designed to cruise at mach 3, not just a quick dash before decelerating, so that is more demanding.

  27. This is already possible using the hooks in the events.lua script. :) I am thinking about adding a stats file to the next version of my ServMan mod, however that will be server-side only, but it could for example be parsed by a PHP script and used for online stats tracking on a squadron/server homepage.
