This is one of those subjects that noone will ever be able to read enough about, because there'll always be that one little bit of information that might save your bacon when things get messy in the mud. Theres countless documents and threads across the internet with regards to aircraft operation procedures and instruments, but very little to cover using it for its intent, a mean mother!@£$%^ hog with a mean mother!@£$%^& snout! So I'd like to use this thread as a repository for all the different resources you've read throughout your time as a groundpounder (simming or in RL!), that have helped you out on the battlefield. I know I've spent too many hours sifting the useful from the useless, and maybe someone like me will benefit from a thread like this, giving us all one good place to come and brush up on our skills. I'll list the ones that I know to start with, and update with any that you guys post! Before anyone starts ranting that any of these are outdated or what have you, remember, while the whole article may not be relevant, there will always be some useful information that remains pertinent to any aircraft, be it chucking rocks out of a paper biplane or firing a laser from the deathstar! With that out of the way, here we go! -A-10A/C Combat Tactics- Hog Basics: RAF Bentwaters Tactics Guide - 1982 - Andy Bush - A great guide which highlights many useful topics, such as formations, navigation and attack strategies. Mavericks, Rockets, and the Gun - Air To Mud Shooting In The Hog - Andy Bush - Some of these tactics will change with the new C Hog, but a lot of the skills will remain, such as ingress and spotting tactics. CCIP Bombing in the A-10A - Andy Bush - Again, written for LOMAC but there is some interesting reading that might be of some use to us! Combat Mission Planning Considerations, Part One - Initial Planning Combat Mission Planning Considerations, Part Two - Ingress, Attack, and Egress - Andy Bush - Fantastic in depth look at mission planning. Air To Ground Basics - Bombing Air To Ground Basics - Bombing, Part Two Air To Ground Basics, Part Three - Rockets and Guns - Andy Bush - Great 3 part introduction to basic ground pounding theory and practice. Flankertraining Rich 'Ironhand' Sorochak's fabled website, covering a great deal of subjects for LOMAC and general theory alike. Fixed Wing CAS Tactics - Interesting and very in depth overview of CAS operations and procedures. Close Air Support - Fas.org document outlining CAS in great depth.4 points

Status April 2012: A brand new video with a joint operations with me and another crazy pit builder from my Squad. Hope you like it. Status December 2011: Video with BS2 and new features added in my pit. All the best to you guys for 2012! Status November 2011: Upgrade to BS2 and now the NVG bug in multiscreen is corrected (and NVG itself much improved), it was time for my pit to get also slightly upgraded for night flights! Detail on the right panel where I used an array of 12V blue leds strip: Status September 2011: Switched from BSVP to Helios from SC Simulations. This allowed me not only to get rid of my secondary networked PC, but also to display all gauges on the front panel as well as a working EKRAN. Eventhough only one PC have to run 6 screens at the same time, I am still getting 30+ fps with SIOC still running in the background to manage the leds (thanks to Gadroc for his help on this). New demo video: And one picture: Status March 2011: All leds now working in game. Cougar replaced by Warthog stick. Aluminum plates added for the floor. Better integration of the collective. Complete re install of DCS BS increased fps from 15 to 30. Don't know why, but that's really cool. New video added. (The copyright free version) Pit status on the 9th of August 2010. Hi BS fans and pit builders. I have been working for some time now on this project since BS has been available. This is my first pit and I though BS was the perfect sim to work on. First it is extremely realistic, secondly the Ka-50 cockpit is still very analogic oriented and as such, a little bit easier to build than a latest generation cockpit with fully integrated avionics and such. Finally, having the possibility to assign almost every single switch to a joystick button and being able to display ABRIS and SKVAL on separate screens proved that ED was clearly pit builder minded when they developped this fantastic sim. I had though to bet on the future of this sim, as, although inputs are easy to implement, there is nothing about outputs yet (leds, parameters and so on). I do hope that the dev will keep their word by allowing some easy data export in a future patch or dev package release. I want my pit to be as realistic as possible, but I wont go as far as Triggerhappy for example and CMC machining parts and buttons. This will be far too expensive and I have no talent for this. So I had sometimes to make some tradeoffs as I couldn't get everything I want for the parts in electronic shops. Talking about Triggerhappy, many many thanks and all credits to him for the blueprints and drawing he posted on this forum. It was extrmely precious for me to start this project. First of all, I started to build the left console: Every buttons and lever are functional but some switches for the ADF as I used Leo Bodnar's USB board for the wiring and it is limited to 32 inputs. This limitation keeps bugging me by the way and I still have to sacrifice some switches that I don't use for the sake of this limitation. I used some MON-OFF-MON switches for the radio frequencies (could'nt find anything looking like the real thing). As for the display of these frequencies, I have some other plan to display them.:D1 point

In anticipation of DCS:A-10C, I started creating a checklist. I don't have any A-10C docs (yet!) so I started with the A-10A, but thought I'd share. A10A_startup_rev001.pdf1 point

Hi pilots, I tried to improve the AI of wingman and here is the result. After several changes in the setup detection and intelligence wingman is able to attack enemy targets. After this changes is wingman not smarter :) But he can accept engage my target command, engage ground targets, engage datalink targets and kill some enemies !!!Use at your own risk!!! !!!Do not use for online gaming. You could be banned, kicked, or identified as cheater !!! !!!Do not use notepad for files editing. Download notepad++ (freeware)!!! 1. Backup files "Detection.lua" and "skill_factors".lua in your ka-50\scripts\AI\ (rename them to detection.old or copy to another folder) 2. Extract all files from "AI.zip" into ka-50\scripts\AI\ Download patch from http://www.tigersweb.cz/blackshark/AI.zip This is not the solution. It's just a desperate attempt to make the game playable after the patch 1.02 Please developers to devote precious little time to repair the actual intelligence of wingman !!! TIP:My wingman is still "frozen/blind/stupid" in the first mission after starting the game. Try after starting the game launch an unimportant mission, for "activating" your wingman. TIP2:After take off, set formation as F1,F6,F3- "spread" and F1,F6,F10 "combat". In this configuration wingman "attack my target" immediately after sending command and from my altitude. This is important, because of hes not trying find low altitude route to target. TIP3:Delete all files in ka-50/temp folder Tiger1 point

It's all up to the pilot imo... Mirage is a great plane.. If nothing, it'll be fun to fly small and agile plane, not flying bed like Flanker/Eagle ;) According to this video: , i'd give Mirage a chance :)1 point

I'm not sure if English is your first language, but I completely understood what he was doing by his words and the files that were spoken of. If you're having a hard time understanding, you can try Google translate to translate these English posts into whatever language you normally speak. Thank you to the OP for a very good job!:thumbup:1 point

Rise Of Flight has the variable depth of view feature. You either see clear gauges and blurry outside or clear outside of the cockpit and blurry gauges. It depends on the position of virtual pilot's head. To be honest, I had to quickly turn it off, because it does more harm than good, because you never know, when the system will switch. For the most of the time it had the curious habit of focusing in-cokpit, when I was just going to nail that Fokker... As for the DCS Black Shark, NVG are fantastic and they somehow do support looking on the gauges "under the goggles", because only a part of the computer screen is "amplified". Also I've never had any trouble with unreadable gauges, ABRIS or darkness outside. It's only a matter of experimenting with brightness settings. In complete darkness I fly with the following setup: - NVG - max brightness - ABRIS - lowest possible brightness, just one click from total dark/OFF - HUD - night mode (yellow) with lowest possible brightness, 1 or 2 clicks from total dark/OFF - cockpit lights - all off - exterior lights - all off; except when in airfield controlled airspace, then dimmed, depending on weather conditions - Shkval - for the most part, at night it's of no use, so I turn it off. When it's applicable, I set it just like ABRIS - I can read it, but it doesn't blind NVG. When it's not completely dark, as at the dawn/dusk, I set everything somewhere between the day-total darkness setups, depending on light conditions. As for the using NVG and shooting firearms, I was told by a veteran, that it is possible to look with the right eye through red dot sight and with the left eye through mono NVG. The images from both eyes would get superimposed on each other, but it requires a bit of adaptation and is tiring after a longer period of time. But it's just like AH-64 IHADSS.1 point
