  2. Hi, I've been struggling a little with the default snap views even with TIR5 it's just not comfortable for more than a glance at certain instruments. So I set about adjusting the snap views and thought I'd share both the views I'm now using and what I've learnt with regards to adjusting them. Enable your own custom snap views .\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\View\View.lua UseDefaultSnapViews = false 3. Change KEYPAD1 Snap View (Radios) .\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua Snap[11][2] = {} Snap[11][2]["y_trans"] = 0.15 Snap[11][2]["x_trans"] = 0.15 Snap[11][2]["z_trans"] = -0.5 Snap[11][2]["vAngle"] = -90 Snap[11][2]["rollAngle"] = 0 Snap[11][2]["viewAngle"] = 45 Snap[11][2]["hAngle"] = 0 RCTRL + 0, KEYPAD1 in game should now give you the radio stack. 3. Change KEYPAD4 Snap View (Left MFD) .\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C Beta\Config\View\SnapViews.lua Snap[11][7] = {} Snap[11][7]["y_trans"] = -0.27820714509734 Snap[11][7]["x_trans"] = 0.32762247014528 Snap[11][7]["z_trans"] = 0.24479886800933 Snap[11][7]["vAngle"] = -10.651849345676 Snap[11][7]["rollAngle"] = 0 Snap[11][7]["viewAngle"] = 35 Snap[11][7]["hAngle"] = 0 RCTRL + 0, KEYPAD6 in game should now give you the right MFD. 7. Tweak to your liking Snap[L][M]["N"]=O L is the plane and 11 is the id for the A10 M is the KEYPAD value + 1, so for example KEYPAD1 would be Snap[11][2], KEYPAD2 Snap[11][3] etc. N is the value you're changing where:- y_trans up(+) and down (-) z_trans right(+) and left (-) x_trans back(+) and forward(-) vAngle pan view rollAngle look left (-) and look right (+) viewAngle = field of view / zoom hAngle pan view By the way it's RCTRL + KEYPAD0 again to turn off snap view and return to your normal view. Anyway hope you find the above useful. bt

  3. Nice to see that not only was this warning ignored but that the last few pages have been nothing but politics (and even advocating sexual abuse). Suppose its all ok though as the political posts allowed to remain are pro-western-US claptrap... :disgust: Rules for one appear to be lacking for others.....

  4. Nice vid Eagleye, I'm reading reviews on this and its funny how reviewers punish a score by saying "it's too difficult for the average gamer" ...... . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . Since when did learning how to be good at a game become a negative? In many ways that's the best part...learning. It's the best part of any superhero movie, any fantasy movie...learning and discovering are far more interesting than immediately blowing things up and beating the game in 4 hours.

  7. I would love to see your powerpoint presentation used in your re-education camp. Although unlike those living in North Korea I doubt it would be effective against me, as I was brought up the think critically and to be pretty open minded. Plus it helps that I like making counter points to people like you. I once successfully compared an A2A dogfight to a Pokemon battle. If needed I'll bring out the Chewbacca defense... which NEVER FAILS. :megalol: But I digress. Everyone must have a starting point. While we did have MS Flight Sim 95 or something like that, and a few Jane's sims (USNF, Longbow 2, F-15) the thing that hooked me when I was young was Sim Copter for PC, U.N. Squadron and Pilotwings on the SNES. Even then though I took long break from flight games. Quake, Battlefield, Counterstrike, Starcraft, and Command and Conquer tended to contribute. Yet I came back. Most likely due to the enjoyment I got from those early games and a re-ignited curiosity/annoyance caused by Battlefield 2.

  8. Mower - You do not need to type the coordinates in but it is possible by entering waypoint mode and than changing from LL to UTM to type in the coordinates. I tried it and it works. but see below After you read back the 9 line to the FAC they will transmit the coordinates to your TAD and you have the option of Wilco or Cantco on the TAD. When you accept with wilco you will see a red triangle on the TAD where the target is. Simply TMS Up long on the target with the TAD and it will be your target after you slave it. I hope this makes sense.

  10. Sure there will be people who play HAWX etc and not want to go further, but it is ludicrous to think that there are not people who will play it then want something more. I played early EA and DID game/sims then wanted more. The game mode of DCS-A10 is there for a reason. I play FC2 but I can handle DCS fidelity and want more :) Elitist attitude is silly. Everyone starts somewhere.

  11. It would be more like "Well I've got this joystick, and that game was alot of fun, but it just wasn't good enough. Hey, whats this Flaming Cliffs 2 thing? Wow FC2 is too bloody hard, I've got no time to learn all these butons... where's that HAWX again?"

  13. I would play it safe, and stick to the a-10c. You can always just assign the switches inside other sims as well, without TARGET.. I dont use target, because I don't wanna risk my wh turning into a very heavy and beautifull brick ;), but I also fly the ka-50, fsx and il2 with the wh. I hope you will survive the wait :P I know what it feels like ;)

  14. I got your point, yes, I agree that flight-sims as a genre are reborn now! Wide variety of games with different fidelity are here and continue to coming in near future!

  15. I've just had a go at this game, it really is good fun, and it looks superb and runs sooooo smoothly :) Now that i've got it all configured for my TrackIR, CH Throttle and stick it's even better, *almost* feels like a sim hehe

  16. Fanboy, why are you ranting at NASA about things NASA doesn't touch? NASA is not involved in searching for an intelligent ET, they're only dealing in researching the possibilities of life. SETI are looking for an intelligent ET, but they're actually NOT funded by NASA, they're not part of NASA, they're not part of any government agency. They aren't even relying on government grants to do their stuff - they're privately funded and are using/building their very own instruments (funded in part by a well-known billionaire named Allen). No-one's actually said to really hide either, but many scientists (Hawking amongst them, actually) are of the opinion that we should not actively try to contact them either. Your wireless isn't a problem since that signal attenuates to practical insignificance even within our atmosphere. But we might want to re-think a bit of how we do other types of communication, and the people that want to send focused signals at candidate stars might be having a bad idea. And interestingly enough, a lot of that appears to be practical to do anyhow, irrespective of the ET question. Communication is just a lot faster and cheaper to do over fiberoptics than sattelites. But don't for one second think that NASA has anything to do with any of that. On clean energy - we already know how to do that. If we had the will we would have been at a zero-emission economy in the 60's, it's just that the technology to do that is sort of impopular. ;) But seriously, there's just so much wrong in your post I should leave it at that. You are attacking the wrong people, and then you go rampage all over the place. Suddenly we are talking about transfer of counsciousness? How did that relate to anything? Well, if that's "educated fools" then perhaps you can educate them on what counsciousness is. Is it linked solely to the matter in your brain? Then you have actually not lived for very long - assuming you are an adult there's very very little, if anything, left in you of the matter that constituted you and your brain when you were born. So are you the same person as who was born, except grown up? If you are, then you must by necessity accept counsciousness as an emergent phenomenon existing as a continuum - think of it like this: 1) I purchase an axe. 2) I use it a lot 3) I replace the blade 4) Is it the same axe? For all intents and purposes, it is. 5) I use it a lot 6) I replace the blade again 7) I use it a lot yet again 8) I replace the shaft 9) Is it still the same axe? At which specific point did it stop being the same axe? Also, if you have two exactly identical knives, does it matter which one you bring to scout camp? Nope. They'll both do exactly the same thing. So if you have two exactly identical minds, does it matter which one you say is you and which one isn't? If you want to discuss the nature of cousnciousness, feel free to start a thread (or PM me, since it is fairly OT) on it and I'll humor you, but please do so in a calm and considered manner, not this haphazard string of loosely connected rage.

  22. I just started to reed this book and wanted to share; "Fighter Pilot: The Memoirs of Legendary Ace Robin Olds" Very good so far. and while I'm at it: "American Patriot: The Life and Wars of Colonel Bud Day" Amazing story, the guy survived a ejection were the chute did not open! and as a POW in Vietnam. "Biohazard:The Chilling True Story of the Largest Covert Biological Weapons Program in the World--Told from Inside by the Man Who Ran It" Thank God the cold war stayed cold. "Marine Sniper: 93 Confirmed Kills" Talks about Sergeant Carlos Hathcock Vietnam tours. "Boyd: The Fighter Pilot Who Changed the Art of War" Talk about Col John Boyd, very influential on the design of the F-15/16/18 "Helmet for My Pillow: From Parris Island to the Pacific" After seeing the HBO series The Pacific I had to check it out, very good. "Mirage III vs MiG-21 (Duel)" Small book. Not the most detailed but some interesting info, not sure how accurate. Funny, all this years reading about aircraft, and never noted how little armament some of this aircraft would carry. MiG-21F-13 gun could only carry 30 rounds! insane.

  23. Hi there once again! I know it has the new A-10C and we all thank you guys for what you've done with it, but still, these G's have to be tested with a fighter!;) I just wonder if DCS will give us the possibility to feel the same thing we felt with the Su-25's, KA-50 and now the brand new A-10C advanced flight models, in the F-15 Eagle or Su-27 Flanker!;) I guess that would blow everyone's mind when they'd start playing DCS with an advanced flight model for Eagle, Flanker, Fulcrum perhaps, as that would've been the meant of the game, but we can just wait and dream for them atm untill we'll have them!:D I'm glad i can talk to you guys about this! Thank you and cheers, Mav.

  24. Thanks for your reply, but I think that even if I wouldn't want to learn that much about an aircraft, thus I persoanlly know enough yet, I'd really appreciate having a better sim! And If you don't mind, i'd like to start with the blackout issue, which has been a long problem since the first Lock On series, and yet, after we've waited for the big change to come in Lock On 2.0..., there's almost no difference at all! I'm sorry if I waste someone's time, as these factors may be more or less known by some..., but let me bring you some details about them...: Notice that everything is about how many G's over a period of time! For the vertical axis G-load: -Instantaneus G factor: 40G(every pilot) for around 0.1 seconds -Sustained G Factor given in seconds: - Untrained pilot: 5G's fo 10-12 seconds - Trained pilot: 9G's for 16-30 seconds -Over 50G's can cause permanent damage or even death, although all these things with sustainable or unsustainable G's have a matter in time..., -HOW MANY G'S, OVER WHAT AMOUNT OF TIME-. For example we can sustain even 100G's on the vertical axis if they last no longer than about 0.05 seconds, and survive with no injuries, but we will blackout and die if we try to sustain even 5G's with a G-suit on, for longer than 2-3 minutes, because the same thing will happen, the brain will finally end up with no blood! It's all a matter of G's/time. For the longitudinal axis G-load(which affect forward accelerating and braking): - Eyeballs in: 17G (time matters less) - Eyeballs out: 12G (time matters less) If you don't mind, here are some videos which can prove at what levels would a normal human blackout, no matter at what level of training is he: And if these guys were better or less better at sustaining 7-9G's, they were all trained for that! Now this is a guy who had almost no training for sustaining a 9G manoeuvre: Although he didn't blackout sooner than 8 seconds -since he reached 9G's until he had it-...! The blackout may not be very easy to simulate as it varries from one pilot to another, but even if you'd try to make an average out of the best and worst pilot who can sustain 9G without blacking out, and that's a matter of how long will he be able to sustain, there should still be a way better value than what we see in Lock On...! I mean there's no way that in real life, even an untrained pilot would blackout at 9G's(sustained) in 3 seconds, as it happens in the game, thus, in the game if you hold the pilot at 8G's he can stay there forever even though it simulates that you have no light in the eyes. The worst one blacks out only after 7-8 seconds at 9G in real life, while the best can sustain 9G for more than 30 seconds EVEN WITHOUT LIGHT LOSS, not to tell that this guy was also talking at the same time o.O...! So these are the levels that a real pilot can reach and that's why i'm saying, that they should be seen someway in the game aswell...! Even if pulling too many G's over time might cause permanent damage to your body, you still don't want to be a dead hemoroid while in a scissors...!;) Don't know about DCS, as we don't have a Fighter aircraft to test it there yet, and i think it's just the same one! I really love Lock On and DCS, that's why i'm asking you guys to make an effort and please bring these factors come to REAL life!;) Thank you ED and to all developers of the team! Best regards, Mav. P.S. Here are two videos which I hope you'll enjoy.: Make this the most realistic air combat simulator that people were ever able to play and you won't regret it when everyone will know what to buy, if they like THE BEST! Cheers!

  30. Hi Kung Fu! I'm a Staff Sergeant stationed at Nellis. I work on the flightline as a 2W1 weapons troop, and I've been working several flightlines for 8 years on both the F-16 and F-15E aircraft. I currently load and maintain weapon systems for the F15E Strike Eagle. I am on the flight line everyday and could very much help with the layout of the flight line and common things you would see there to include common support vehicles that are never included into flight sims. Which buildings do you need information on? Perhaps a more detailed layout with building numbers would help as a reference. Let me know. Certain pictures from certain angles or locations will need special permission. I can facilitate this, and that's why I need to know building numbers and angles. If you don't have such a diagram with building numers let me know. It is also possible for you to be escorted around areas of the flightline if you'd like for some of your programmers to see for themselves what it looks like during daily operations. By the way...you have created the best helicopter/combat flight sim I've ever seen or played (Been playing flight sims since my 486 computer). You're attention to detail and quality of programming has raised the bar of excellence. Your willingness to go beyond an already fantastic project makes me eager to help you out. SSgt. J. Williams "Scrape"
