Yes it is supposed to be like it is (i.e. the switch toggles forward). It in fact is very logical: close, just a click and it closes, no need to remember to hold the switch. If you want to open it, you have to hold the switch for x amount of time.1 point

Now I can see it. That explains the strange appearance of the main gear tires (inconsistant different size in & out for both planes) @ Tn prvteye & Hitman : Congrats Dudes, you really have the eye of the tiger :D @ Mvsgas : You really were on something ! Congrats all the way  I'm continuously impressed here.... :worthy:1 point

They can, and they do. However the accuracy of their alignment is only as good as data they are provided by the parent aircraft's nav system. So in other words, poor EGI alignment = poor GBU alignment = insufficient GBU alignment for release. And for the record, JDAMs are not GPS guided, they are INS guided with GPS updates to the INS (yes there is a difference).1 point

You can believe it?????? We need a hardcore cold war (60´s to 1990) simulator.1 point

I can only speak for myself, what I have seen and been through. F-16 pilots wear ear plugs along with the helmet. When I had my flight, I couldn't hear the AB kick in when we took off. Also the cockpit noise was low, just heard the plot talking to me, ATC and a slight buzz. If I was outside the jet I'd be able to hear it loud and clearly. However, I did hear the pitch in the engine change when we were landing.1 point

Here are two quick shots I took. If I get a good enough response, I may post more :) Regards, Diego1 point

This is a problem with the drivers and Windows 7 64 bit. It has been reported a long time ago and only recently it has been acknowledged as an incompatibility problem with Windows 7 64 bit. They are working on a fix for that. A workaround for that is to use the back USB ports and not use it on HUBS or FRONT CASE USB ports. It has worked for some and not for others. In my case, the problem still remains after complete driver uninstallation and reinstallation even if using the back USB ports. I have had this joystick for over 2 years and have used it for hundreds and hundreds of flying hours. It's still in impeccable condition, except for the nagging "profele" problem. Hardware-wise it's still tip-top. Are there PRO and non-PRO models out there that fail after 2 weeks of use? Of course there are, just as there are 400-dollar Thrustmaster Warthogs that become paper weights due to firmware problems, just as there are X65 with sensor problems, just as there are G940 with throttle wiring problems. Not for a minute you should think that by spending the price of 4 X52 PRO in a joystick you'll be automatically excluded from the fact that you too can become statistics on faulty hardware. That's the number one reason for disappointment down the line. :smartass: This is one of the threads in which the problem was reported ==> http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=19182 You may need to be logged in to view it. This is what the site administrator has posted on June 1. And now answering your question... :smilewink: Buy a HOTAS WARTHOG IF: 1) You don't mind spending $400 on a joystick. 2) You can afford to spend another $80 on a set of pedals. 3) You want more realism and immersion. Say yes to all three of them and you're good to go. :joystick: :pilotfly: :smartass: :thumbup:1 point

Hey guys, For what it's worth, I demoed this game to my uncle who used to fly A-10's. The video was of some take offs and landings as well as some ground attacks. He said everything was realistic from what he could tell, especially the sound of the gun. He said "The Gun was awesome- sounds just like that!" However, he did say that "We wear earplugs under the helmet so it is very quiet in the cockpit.", meaning the engine is too loud in cockpit. He also mentioned the radio calls weren't realistic, at least based on his many years of flying the A-10. There were some other minor nitpicks but that is off topic. Bottom line, it does seem like the engine in cockpit is too loud.1 point

Most, if not all of our A-10 pilots wear ear plugs... can't speak for cockpit noise but it can be deafening on the comm when they crank the volume.1 point

I know what you mean. I was getting so tired of that constant drone, whine and rumble in the cockpit that I did a little file renaming to get rid of it. Try this. In : Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts Rename : planewind.wav planewindIn.wav (I just put OFF at the end to be able to find them quick and change them back if needed... planewindOFF.wav) In : Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Sounds\Effects\Aircrafts\Engines Rename: EngineTF34GE100Fan.wav EngineTF34GE100InL.wav EngineTF34GE100InR.wav Now all you will hear is the engine core sound. It will be very subtle and you will still hear the soft sound of the engines spoolling up and down as you make power adjustments and will retain the aural cues of what speeds the engines are running at. Also may want to tweak your in game sound settings a bit as well. Mine are World 100 Helmet 50 In Cockpit 20 Give this a try and see if it is to your liking. I am totally pleased with it. Remember to back up those files etc.. But it's pretty straightforward :)1 point

What the hell are you talking about arality? All that is in the C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS A-10C\Sounds\EditorMusic folder is the UI music, an excellent composition, I might add. Is this one of those "haha, I made you look" kinds of immature jokes?' If so, really, what's the point? That stopped being funny oh, about fifth grade. Why be a jerk and waste people's time? :mad:1 point

I agree  But I'm considering switching to the H100. If not only to save some space in my case. The Thermalright Silver Arrow I have does an amazing job at cooling but it is huge.1 point

I also plan to make a major upgrade and want to use a i7 2600K. Here is the article that helped me the most to make this decision: http://www.cleared-to-engage.com/2011/01/24/my-5ghz-sandy-bridge/ and this also http://www.cleared-to-engage.com/2011/01/17/simulation-and-sandy-bridge/1 point

Why would you recommend a gold rated unit if it was OCZ but only a bronze or silver rated unit if it was from Corsair. Again, if you buy the right PSU then when the next upgrade comes along, the PSU won't need to be a part of it.1 point

CPU: get the intel i5 2500k and oc it to ~4.6 ghz (really easy to do) Mainboard: get the intel P8P67 RAM Memory: 8GB of 1600mhz would be ideal Hard disk: HDD 1 TB GPU: Get the EVGA 2GB version of the GTX 560Ti if you can - more future proof PSU: OCZ Z-Series 80+ gold is only £90 in the UK, so get it if you can. If not a corsair TX 650 or HX 650 would be more than enough for one card, and an 850 would be more than enough for a future Sli.1 point

@EtherealN: i know about that, thats why i said ED finishe the job :-) and to it, they sure did more then we had done so far, cause they had a big interest in it :-) @ divide et impera: well new models for planes need to be done and produced too. unfortunatly no one in the community ever brought the fact up that it should be paid for too :-) so just think of the fact in th course of progress, all models need to be improved, and guess what, in a few years, lets say maybe in 4 years, every game will be in 3d vision, so what do you think will happen then? do you think the models will be worse? every generation of game and in addition the any new 3d software will bring new features too, so let me say it this way. when we would not be limited to the game engine and hardware, i could actually build a mig29 that gets very close to the real one, lets say maybe 99% close, cause do to all the little features of the new 3d progs, and enough time, you will not see any diffrence to the real one, besides the limits of th graficengine :-) do you yell for a new mig29 model again in 4 years too? we all know that the birds are important too, but who pays that? who pays the time of the guys who make it? most of the time the relationship pays for it, but not in advantage of the one who makes them and believe me when i say that from first hand. i have spend so many hours on the f15c, that my former girl asked me once if i want to marrie my comp. so why should people produce something when they get thier ass kicked from every direction, cause what use do i have as a 3d artist from comments in a forum like " ohh great, keep it going, it is so wonderfull, bl bla bla". it is nice to hear it, but when i want to be acknowledged for something then i want to be acknowledged from people i can look in the eyes, if i need that. but most of us, i assume that, do not need that in a forum :-) people make things cause they want to make it, and as a pro bono, they might get payed for it too, even when it is just a littlebit :-) and at last, to correct you in terms of this conversation. you might want to read over your postings again, cause your last post is not really referring to your earlier posts, it cant be, otherwise i do not understand your english, which might be possible too :-)1 point
