  1. Hey everybody, This is my first post on these forums. I was a active pilot on the Free falcon and Open Falcon forums and flew countless hours of multiplayer missons on these sims. I first off wanted to say hI to this new community, and let everyone know that I am excited about getting to know the warthog! However, as I begin I know there is a large learning curve ahead of me, I can familiarize myself with the aircraft\weapon systems, but.... I have no Idea about A10 AtoG tactics... Even normal cruise Alt/speed. Is there a place where I can begin to read about these? (outside manual ofcourse) For instance... What do you guys use as your hard deck if there is a Heavy SAM threat. What alt do gun passes occour? What is a good optimum cruising alt for a A10 assuming little to no payload? What is a good combat ingress alt? Thank you in advance anyone that responds.. BTW Sobek if you are still here WAS UP BUDDY?;)

  3. Mavericks. What you normally do, is that you wait for the SEAD and CAP boys to neutralize those threats. You can check them on the TAD, hook them, and slew TGP for VID on the kill, or audible chatter of AI elements announcing'' killed SAM at bulls #''. Another thing, is to use your wingman as a duster and let him do the honors, or use him to spot those threats, so you can engage them. Finally, you never drop under a 1000 over a tank or APC, or risk getting a system malfunction due to ground fire. Of note is not to exceed 430 KIAs on the HUD specially with heavy payload/overload. And not to pull hard on the stick at the same speeds (400+) or risk a wing snap. 2500 ~ 6000. And zooming in the camera inside the pit is normal and not considered cheating since your eye isnt like a real pilot, as well as resolution sometimes dont permit a VID except upclose. 8000 for >25 mi 4000 for < 15 mi And if there are terrain obstacles like mountains, you may expedite your climb to 10000 or as you see fit. Debatable, but I normally ingress at 8000 AGL and start with laser spot search for them SAMs.

  6. Solution for Windows 7 64-bit Polish Hi, for visibility Training on installation in Windows 7 64-bit Polish you can change name of directory in C:/Program Files/Eagle Dynamics/DCS A-10C/Training/en from "en" to "pl". You don't need to change Localization of Windows form Polish to English !

  10. I think it is a shame most players out there don't even know that CAP and SEAD flighs are available to make the work easier for us, Hog pilots. A good thing is to to have an "ear out" for AWACS calls. When "Magic" says that a bogey, is "hot", "40 miles", "10,000", it is time to call the cavalry. It means that a possible enemy fighter is coming (bogey, hot) and at 40 miles out gives the CAP flight enough time to come out of loitering position and start their patrol. The "10,000" is the enemy altitude, so, it is typically a fighter coming to intercept. Note that choppers will be called "bogey, hot, XX miles, low". After you call the CAP, if you pay attention, you'll see that they will call out any enemies they find. Take note of the CAP callsign and wait for the "Fox 1", "Fox 2" calls. The CAP route is more or less your route, they will inform the waypoint they are passing at a given moment. So, if they call "Passing Waypoint 1", look at your map and try and see that the fighters will show up via datalink on the TAD, close or on top of your own waypoints. Very cool to watch! :) After they engage or if they didn't find anything, they will RTB. However, in the campaigns the CAP flights will be replenished as time passes. Again, pay attention to the guard frequency on your radio, because you will hear some flights being launched by a carrier (something like "Texaco flight, airborne"). And yep, there is a Navy carrier on the Black Sea, if you look at it, you'll see it's real nice. And last, but not least, one thing that is recurrent on the campaign missions is that the first wave of fighters that will come after you, usually are Su-25s. Once they are engaged by the first CAP, you can do your mission with no worries. However, to the end of the mission some nasty Mig-29's will show up. Be aware of the AWACS calls so that you'll know when they are coming. Look at the F10 menu, and there will be some new CAP flights avalable. Once the enemy gets to 40 miles, call the CAP and turn your nose towards frendly territory and dive to the deck. Luckily, the 29's will be shot down and you'll be home free.

  15. Not information, but a question, first: Why Ultimate? Which of the Ultimate-specific functions do you intend to use? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_7_editions If you want XP-mode specifically for any legacy software, you're good with Professional. I don't really see much else that is especially useful. I use Home Premium and I haven't missed anything, and functions that are not used are just bloat that will complicate your system. Regarding software, I'd say you'll generally find Win7 to be a smooth ride. There can be some issues in a few cases - for example, FC1 would require an updated DRM driver to work. (Available for download.) FC2 is unaffected (it doesn't even use a driver). Aside from that, Win7 is a LOT better at memory handling as well as working with multiple CPU's and multithreaded software. Don't really think there's any specific stuff needed; most things will either work on the plug-and-play, or let you get on with it through a simple driver download.
