New 8-player co-op mission. This is the first of a 5-misison MP "campaign" I am working on, so worked a bit more on the back story. We've been testing this on the 1st VFW servers for a month so hopefully it runs well. Ordinance management and teamwork are critical. Home plate is not far from the A.O., so I suggest that if it's a must, send flight elements back to re-arm or hit the tanker but make sure at least one element stays on patrol at all times. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/140449/ *** updated to include two KA-50 slots, callsigns Colt 1 & Colt 2 *** V1.1 - tweaked Chinook flights and LZ logic. Smaller file size. BATTLE FOR DARIAL GORGE MISSION 001 "SKY CAP" 10-APR, 0800 HRS Welcome to Georgia. Background --------------------------------- Two weeks ago, Ossetian separatist forces, backed by elements of the Russian 19th Motor Rifle Division, poured into the Argavi River valley region of Georgia south of Vladikavaz. The separatists are attempting to gain a foothold west of the area fiercely fought over during the South Ossetia War of 2008. From this area, they would be within striking distance of Tbilisi. The Georgians have asked for our help and the 25th VFS is here as part of a multinational coalition of air and ground forces to assist in pushing the separatists back through the gorge. The Darial Gorge, and the Georgian Military Road that navigates it (the road being built by the Russians in 1799), comprises one of few roadway crossings along a mountainous 350-mile stretch of the Russian-Georgian border. As such, the strategic importance of the gorge has been the subject of many battles, dating all the way back to 150 B.C. Ruins of ancient fortresses are still visible along the banks of the Terek River. For now, the Russian 19th Motor Rifle Div. is holding at and controlling the Darial Gorge crossing while using only long-range artillery to support the separatists as they move as far south as Pasanauri. The Russians don't want to push across the border and commit any more than they have to - only enough to support the separatists' advance. They would like to keep us out of the fight as much is possible. Meanwhile, coalition forces intend to support Georgia in repelling the advance and pushing the separatists north without bringing the full force of the Russian 58th Army (reminiscent of 2008 ) into play. Thus, it's a bit of a chess match at the moment. ROEs are strict - engagement of separatists forces is fully authorized, but Russian forces are to be engaged only if directly fired upon. Check mission maps for known areas of Russian forces - these are to be avoided. In addition, Russian airspace is strictly off-limits. --------------------------------- The weather and visibility has been horrendous the last two weeks, allowing the separatists to push south with near impunity from coalition air assets and effective artillery. To make matters worse, all we have to work with is what we can fly in on transports. With US naval forces unable to resupply via Black Sea routes due to political hurdles, it's a logistical nightmare. As such, our ground forces, particularly heavy armor, is limited for now. The Georgians have given us access to fuel reserves, but it's not enough. Most of our jet fuel will need to be flown by KC-135s from the 121st out of Incirlik, Turkey until we can get it in over-ground. Thus, take off's with only 50% fuel will be standard SOP until it's sorted, with air refuel required first task on all missions. All coalition air forces will be operating out of Tbilisi and Vaziani at this time. Elements of the US Army 4th Infantry Division have set up a forward operating base (FOB) just outside the town of Zhinvali, 50 km north of Tbilisi. From FOB Zhinvali, they've pushed north far enough to establish a group of observation posts (OPs) from which to find and engage the separatists forces. 'OP Denali', the furthest north, sits less than 40 km from the entrenched Russian 19th Motor Rifle Div. and within range of their artillery. As such, tensions are high. With the poor visibility and rugged terrain we're dealing with, the A-10s of the 25th are uniquely qualified to work closely with our ground forces to help search, engage, and destroy the separatists. Overcast conditions still prevail, but visibility is good enough over the AO to get to work. Good luck. --------------------------------- Today's mission should get you oriented with the AO (Area of Operations), one way or another. The US 4th Infantry is digging in but the OPs have been under constant sniper, mortar, and artillery fire from the Separatists since we've gotten here. Most of their heavy armor and self-propelled artillery is still en route, with the C-17s only able to carry in a single M1A2 Abrams in at a time. However, we've got a handful of M109 Paladins ready to rock and it's time to get them in place. Today's primary mission: Assist the 3rd Battalion 16th Field Artillery Regiment in establishing firebase "Sky Cap" on the next ridge south of OP Matterhorn. The ground units will be inserted via 2 groups of 2x CH-47 Chinooks, callsigns Pontiac 6-1 and 8-1. The Chinooks will land at two LZs, LZ "Alta" and LZ "Snowbird" (see mission map). Your flight plan includes waypoints Alpha and Bravo at anticipated areas of separatist activity. Clear out these approach valleys and the LZs so Pontiac can get in and out safely. From Sky Cap, Separatist forces dug in in the towns of Kazbegi and Garbani will be in range of the big M109s. In addition, we'll be able to counter the Russian batteries camping out near the border at Darial Gorge. Once that task is completed, stay on-station flying between the FOB and OPs to maintain a presence in the valley and provide on-call CAS, if required. Air-refuel and re-arm at Lochini is authorized, as needed. You will be relieved by Boar flight at 1030 hours. Tusk flight is supplemental to Pig flight and will provide additional support if needed. PIG FLIGHT TASKS: 1) T/O from Tblisi-Lochini 0600 hrs 2) AR at Texaco 3) Clear valleys at Alpha & Bravo 4) Clear LZs Alta & Snowbird 5) Maintain on-station above FOB Zhinvali until relieved by Boar flight at approximately 1030 hours. VAC Friendly Radio Mod by AJ.eightFive v1.2 Summary: - Supresses virtual pilot speech, leaving AI flight members, ATC, JTAC, Tanker, AWACS and Ground Crew speech intact. - Eliminates the delay between issuing a command and receiving a response. Dialog with AI feels much more natural. - Fixes several AI speech/audio bugs. - Includes detailed VAC profile designed for more realistic speech interaction with AI. - Restructures radio command menu, creating three static ATC recipient pages instead of a single dynamic one. This allows actual airfield callsigns to be used when building commands with VAC. Description: The purpose of this mod is to improve the player's experience when using the software VAC to issue radio commands. For an example of VAC being used in conjunction with DCS A-10C, please see Fish's post here. With an unmodified DCS A-10C, every time the player issues a command through the radio menu, scripts generate appropriate phrases which are then spoken aloud by the virtual pilot. Several VAC users have expressed a desire to supress the virtual pilot's speech in order to enjoy a more believable interaction with the AI entities. This was previously accomplished by deleting all sound files from the DCSInstallDir\\Sounds\Speech\Sound\ENG\DCS A-10C\Player\ folder (which I still recommend for this mod... just in case). Unfortunately, for long messages (such as the JTAC check-in message) this would result in a large delay between when the command was issued, and when the AI would respond. The speech scripts automatically generate a "buffer" to allow the speech audio to finish playing before the response is generated or new commands can be issued. The duration of the "buffer" is based on the length of the message subtitle string which is still produced even when the player sound files are removed. This mod eliminates the "buffer" by changing the speech scripts so that subtitles and audio messages are no longer generated for player issued commands. Now AI responses will begin almost immediately after the player issues the command. This mod also restructures the radio command menu, creating three static ATC recipient pages instead of a single dynamic one which sorts ATC recipients by distance. This allows actual airfield callsigns to be used when building a VAC profile. For example, with the VAC profile included, the user can say "Anapa One One, Enfield One One, Inbound For Landing" where previous VAC profiles could only use a generic callsign such as "Tower" or "ATC One" to issue the desired command due to the dynamic nature of the ATC recipients list. One of my goals for future versions of this mod is to extend this behavior to dynamic entities such as JTAC, Tankers and AWACS. Finally several problems with the default speech scripts that cause the AI responses to produce no speech audio have been addressed. Examples are the Tanker's "Cleared to pre-contact" message, and AWACS' "Vector to Tanker" and "Vector to Home Plate" messages. If you are aware of any other AI speech that does not correctly generate audio, please let me know and I will try to find a fix for future versions of this mod. This mod contains a VAC profile which I recommend using or basing your own custom VAC profiles upon when using this mod. Enjoy! Notes: - I realize receiving instant responses isn't a perfect solution either, as in real life there is always a delay while the other party thinks about their response. I intend to experiment with ways to gracefully create such a delay and will tie the delay length with the complexity of the response such that a simple response such as "roger" will be received almost instantly, amd a more complex response such as a 9-line briefing, will take considerably longer. - In order to allow the direct selection of ATC recipients, the default menu behavior whereby ATC recipients were sorted by distance is no longer enabled. However, in order to make all ATC recipients available, there are now three seperate ATC submenus accessed by function keys 5-7. The tanker submenu has been reassigned function key 8, AWACS function key 9, and Ground Crew function key 10. The "Other..." submenu previously displayed in the main menu has been moved, and is now a submenu of the Ground Crew menu. In the future I hope to be able to avoid this by creating a "Next page..." menu item in the ATC submenu to be able to access all of the ATC recipients without the need for three seperate menus. If anyone has suggestions as to how this might be accomplished please let me know as I've hit a brick wall trying to make this work. - This mod was tested only for DCS A-10C (v1.1.1.1) in a single player environment. Please advise if your own testing confirms the mod also works in multiplayer (somewhat likely) or for DCS:2 (unlikely). - This mod is likely to be broken by subsequent patches. If future patches do not improve the radio experience for VAC users I will attempt to release an update version of this mod that does. Changelog: v1.2 - ModMan 7.3 compatible. - Compatibility with DCS A-10C version 1.1.1.1. - Fixed wingman commands that were broken by v1.1. - Added several missing commands to included VAC profile (All ATC submenus, "JTAC 1-1" command). Note: Some player subtitles may still be generated now until I can find a safe way to remove them. Recommend disabling subtitles in DCS A-10C's audio options if you find this distracting. v1.1 - Fixed discrepancies in ATC recipient sorting between single player missions. - Modified "Other..." radio menu to be a sub-menu of "Main Menu > Ground Crew" so that missions that require it can still be completed. Added the VAC voice command "Other" to access the menu. - Removed the redundant word "callsign" from the menu text describing Kolkhi airfield. - Removed some additional player subtitles that were still being generated. ಠ_ಠ Funny story. It turns out that "CAS" is a better option at doing "SEAD" when compared to "SEAD" :music_whistling: A SEAD mission prioritizes the missile launchers. A CAS mission prioritizes the highest value target in a group first. So when you have a Buk site that has radars on the launchers or standalone units like SA-15 TOR. SA-8 OSA, or SA-19 Tunguska a SEAD mission should do fairly well at taking out the target as long as the the SAM isn't already locking something else. Practical example. I outfitted 2 groups of a pair of F-16s with identical payloads. 2x AGM-88 and 6x AGM65D. Group A has a SEAD task. Group B has a CAS task. Group A actions Test 1. At a range of approx 23 nm 3 HARMs are fired at different launchers. 2 from flightlead, 1 from wingman. At a range of approx 20nm the wingman starts to orbit outside of the engagement zone of a Buk, while the flight lead presses in. (Interesting note 1: wingman maintains equal altitude with flight lead, even while flight lead attempts to evade SAMs and eventually go guns on target) At a range between 15-13nm remaining Buk launcher fires 2 missiles at flight lead. Shortly afterward lead jettisons his remaining A2G weapons, but keeps 2 Aim-120s and Aim9s. Buk fires again at equidistant range once previous missiles go dead. F-16 evades and goes in for guns on remaining Buk launcher. F-16 ignore Buk CP and SR. F-16 wingman stops orbiting once the flight lead kills last buk launcher. Test 2 and 3 with GroupA. Gave Flightlead 4x AGM-88. Test 2. Flightlead fired 3 missiles, wingman 1. Test 3 Flightlead and wingman each fired 2 missiles. In both instances once the missiles were fired, both aircraft continued to press on targets. In test 2 a single buk launcher wasn't destroyed. Wingman immediately retreated to previous orbit spot of test 1 until launcher was destroyed after it ran out of missiles Test with group B. Flight lead fires AGM-88 at approx 30nm at the Buk SR. Flightlead and wingmen continue on course as normal. Buk SR is destroyed, F-16s continue until at approx 8nm where they spam Mavericks at remaining targets. Upon firing their Mavs, the F-16s dive right and keep their distance until missiles hit targets, at which point they resume their previous flight path. Test Against Kub Basically the same thing happened with both groups with identical weapons. However I did try something else out. I sent both groups at the target at the same time. Since the KUB locked group A first, group B could not fire a HARM at the radar of the Kub. So while Group A kept the Kub busy, Group B got within Mav range and destroyed the Kub. I attempted a similar test within a single group. I gave group A flight lead 4 Harms, and his wingman 2 Mav-D and 2x AGM-154C. Same behavior as before occured, where the wingman orbited outside engagement zone of the sam until flight lead was dead, RTB, or killed the target. In this test the Kub knicked the flight lead and the wingman swooped in and missile'd all the launchers... leaving the radar alive. 3 Active sams at same time I sent group A and B at the target area of a S-300, SA-11 and SA-6 all active at the same time. Group B fired its missiles at 30nm hitting the S-300 SR and TR, along with the radars of the Kub and Buk, disabling all 3 sam complexes. So to recap, SEAD mission sucks against sam complexes. Use CAS as the flight task and give them SEAD weapons and to ignore everything but sams. Attached mission is pretty straight forward. I have a S-300, SA6 and SA-11 in the same area, I just use a trigger to disable whichever sams I don't want to test. 1110 SEAD.miz1 point

Hey! You're not alone here; a couple other recent purchasers have been discussing this in this thread. Apparently, the website is out of CD-keys, and ED hasn't generated new ones yet (that's based on nothing else than speculation, mind you). Oh, and I'm not sure if it's actually harmful, but you might want to leave your Transaction ID as something private between you and Eagle Dynamics.1 point

Thats also made me wonder - Everyone says that "It" isn't working and takes the time to write down specs of the monitor and so on - but doesn't write a single line about the operatingsystem and the version of DCS they are using... ...who expect a serious answer how to debug this?!1 point

The VFAT Staff and over 100 virtual aerobatic pilots would like to invite you to the Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams 2011. The Virtual Festival of Aerobatic Teams or VFAT is a big international airshow like RIAT or MAKS and spectators will be able to watch the demonstrations flown LIVE through our VFAT TV. The pilots mostly simulate the displays of real aerobatic teams like the Patrouille Suisse, Thunderbirds, Blue Angels, Red Arrows, Russian Knights and Blue Impulse, however, many teams also create their own spectacular displays instead of simulating real life counterparts. Witness the result of another year of hard work by the pilots, simply for the enjoyment to the general public! ---------------------------------------- VFAT 2011 Dates: December 02/03/04 Watch LIVE here: http://www.virtual-airshows.com/english/vfat-tv-europe ---------------------------------------- The VFAT 2011 Performers: Team Performers: Virtual Blue Angels Virtual Blue Impulse Virtual Red Arrows Frecce Tricolori Virtuali Patrouille Suisse Virtuelle Advanced Precision Aerobatic Squadron Virtual Thunderbirds Virtual Patriots Jet Team Patrulla Aguila Virtual Rafale Tactical Display Patrulla Acrobatica Helibelula =RAF= "Virtual Sky Hussars" =RAF= "Virtual Russian Knights" Virtual Falcons Aerobatic Display Team The Jet-E-Sons Guard of Russia Virtual Aerobatic Team “Ghosts” Solo Performers: HDF 59th "Szentgyörgyi Dezső" Virtual Air Base Virtual European Air Operations Virtual Viper East Demo Team Virtual Solo Türk VAT "Berkuts" Mig-29 Solo Display EAV Alas Rotas L-39 Solo / Biele Albatrosy VAT Virtual F-16 Solo Display Team & Virtual Apache Solo Display Team Slovak Air Force 1st Sqn. display team Belgian F-16 Solo Display Team VFA-122 Super Hornet Demo Team "Virtual "Rhino" West" Flanker C Demo VFA-192 F/A-18C Demo Virtual F-15C West Coast Demonstration Team Hungarian Gripen Demo Team Polish Air Force MiG-29 Demo by APASQ Ukrainian Air Force - Virtual Su-27 display team 1 Sq. I accomplished what I set out to, but I think it took me way longer than it should have if i had the right tools. Thank you for your help though.1 point

Kommt hald immer aufs profil an.

Absolutely not! I have to say I really don't understand comments like this that keep popping up on these forums. Next people should be saying pilots shouldn't use reheat because fuel is too expensive. Those of us in the military quite frankly couldnt care less how much the equipment, weapons, ammunition etc cost. Everything has a purpose and is used for that purpose. Lives are always more important than money.1 point

Thanks for the tip Superbus! I wasn't sure what the best way to package it would be, I haven't used MODMAN since LOMAC and this is the first real tinkering I've done with the sim. I'll definitely take a look at the tool you suggested. Look forward to everyone's feedback on the mod.1 point

Madagascar? Only if I could bomb that damn port thats always closed :D In all seriousness. Afghanistan makes the most sense from a realism point of view. Greece would be fun for a fictitious naval oriented scenario Cuba would be ok if we had a retro thing going Canada.... really? Mexico, well it at least makes more sense than Canada, and it has some interesting terrain.1 point

Ok. Some 'exotic' things to try: IFFCC: - Minimum altitude in 30mm submenu. This will generate a triangle near gun sight displaying where you are relative to the minimum altitude set. - Vertical velocity scale for HUD NAV mode. - Variable target elevation. Works only when IFFCC elevation mode was changed from DTS to HOT, and loaded gun ammo type is not CM. - GCAS training. You may set false ground plane and PULL UP voice warning will be heard against this altitude instead of the ground level. - Adjustable target data list for A-A gun. You may exclude unnecessary aircraft from the list. Also you may enter any wingspan you want in MAN-FXD and MAN-RTY submenu. - IFF alert. IFF is still non functional in A-10C, but starting from 1.1.1.1 you will be able to hear IFF voice warning, if IFF alert has been set up. This is a reminder for the pilot to change IFF codes. DSMS profile: - DES TOF. It drives a small cue moving along CCIP PBIL. It is actually another bomb sight which may be used to drop bombs with desired Time Of Flight when it is superimposed over CCIP reticle. - MIN TOF/MIN ALT. If entered, it drives Minimum Range Stapple along with minimum frag safety altitude. As an example you may set MIN ALT to 10000 ft, to not fly occasionally lower than this altitude and thus not to expose yourself to AAA and small arms. Enjoy. :)1 point
