  3. Edit: This all works also in DCS World 1.2.1 So you don't have to edit your options.lua again after switching. This works with all DCS engine simulations - I tested this in build 1.1.1.1 with A-10C and BS2. This is helpful for cockpit builders with a custom windowed resolution and/or 3DTV/SoftTH users. To make a custom resolution always selectable from the in game drop-down menu you have to edit : Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\>your DCS simulation<\MissionEditor\data\scripts optionsData.lua with a proper editor (Notepad++). Always make a backup of the file before you edit! and change it like I show starting at line # ~ 356 and look out for "resolution" before: after: Now you should be able to select "3DTV 1280p" whenever you like. "1280x720" and "3DTV 1280p" is only a example! You can set in your needed resolution and name it how you wish. - just make sure it is legit! You even can add multiple custom resolutions. This would look like this: On a related note: You can also add custom aspect ratios that are not selectable by default - you may want to use it because you scale 1280x1024 pixels on a native 1920x1080px monitor. Do this in the same file beginning in line # ~400 and look out for "aspect" You can see I added 22:10 and called it SoftTH.

  4. This model of the electricity pylon, corrected by luckybob9, has a fixed LOD transition so it is fully visible at longer distances. Compatible with either DCS A-10C or Black Shark 2. download here ---> http://files.lockon.ru/en/173282/ stock tower draw distance fixed version

  5. It also has a fixed LOD3 model. The original was too blocky for my tastes

  6. Finally !:worthy: ( Give someone the finger and... :music_whistling: : ...can you also tone down the colour of the lines from Black to Gray - like in BS1 ? :))

  12. I think you might need to review your startup process? The HUD won't be fully functional until various systems have finished booting up. At the very least you'll need the CICU and IFFCC on, and your DSMS profiles loaded. There might be other stuff required for full functionality, e.g. the EGI aligned and activated for the TVV.

  13. Whaaaaaat? You are kidding me right..what you think the P-51D just stay along side the bombers in formation and watch the FW-109's shoot down the bombers..geez.. The P-51D Mustang fighter pilots engaged enemy aircraft when they are in the area to protect the bombers...my god man..get a grip...on it...:music_whistling:

  14. " In early 1944, General James Doolittle told the fighters to stop flying in formation with the bombers and instead attack the Luftwaffe wherever it could be found. The Mustang groups were sent in before the bombers and could hunt the German fighters while they were forming up. The results were astonishing; in a short period of just over a week, the Luftwaffe lost 17% of its fighter pilots.[19] As Doolittle later noted, "Adolf Galland said that the day we took our fighters off the bombers and put them against the German fighters, that is, went from defensive to offensive, Germany lost the air war."[20] The Luftwaffe answer was the Gefechtsverband (battle formation). It consisted of a Sturmgruppe of heavily armed and armored Fw 190s escorted by two Begleitgruppen of light fighters, often Bf 109Gs, whose task was to keep the Mustangs away from the Fw 190s attacking the bombers. This scheme was excellent in theory but difficult to apply in practice. The large German formation took a long time to assemble and was difficult to maneuver. It was often intercepted by the escorting P-51s and broken before reaching the bombers; when the Sturmgruppe worked, the effects were devastating. With their engines and cockpits heavily armored, the Fw 190s attacked from astern and gun camera films show that these attacks were often pressed to within 100 yds.[21] While not always successful in avoiding contact with the escorts, the threat of mass attacks and later the "company front" (eight abreast) assaults by armored Sturmgruppe Fw 190s, brought an urgency to attacking the Luftwaffe wherever it could be found. Beginning in late February 1944, 8th Air Force fighter units began systematic strafing attacks on German airfields with increasing frequency and intensity throughout the spring, with the objective of gaining air supremacy over the Normandy battlefield. In general, these were conducted by units returning from escort missions but beginning in March, many groups also were assigned airfield attacks instead of bomber support. The P-51, particularly with the advent of the K-14 Gyro gunsight and the development of "Clobber Colleges" for the training of fighter pilots in fall 1944, was a decisive element in Allied countermeasures against the Jagdverbände. The numerical superiority of the USAAF fighters, superb flying characteristics of the P-51 and pilot proficiency helped cripple the Luftwaffe's fighter force. As a result, the fighter threat to US and later British bombers, was greatly diminished by July 1944. Reichmarshal Hermann Göring, commander of the German Luftwaffe during the war was quoted as saying, "When I saw Mustangs over Berlin, I knew the jig was up."[22][23] " Wiki

  15. IMO FW-190 D can be the a good opponent if you want another prop-plane (eg i'd like to have another prop-plane)... if you would like to have a jet aircraft, the better choise is the ME-262...

  17. Most important is to be on a friendly base for sure! Need to have a friendly unit near the base and no armed enemies near it. Also the base you took off, should be considered friendly.

  18. Objectively speaking, that video explains nothing (and I love almost all Hitler spoofs, even on subjects who's views i don't agree with). I just didn't find his arguments all that clever in this one. It's basically the over debated theme of airframe vs airframe. We've had the same debate on rotor craft and fixed wing modern jets (American vs the world). The Fighter Collection who's probably funding the development of the pony has a number of air worthy warbirds (and cold war jets) at it's immediate disposal. According to the TFC webpage...there are airworthy: Bearcat Corsair Curtiss P-40B Gladiator Harvard Hawk Hellcat Mustang TF-51D Nimrod Spitfire V Spitfire XIV Staggerwing Wildcat these are currently being restored Beaufighter CR.42 La-11 Sea Fury Spitfire IX Spitfire XXII Thunderbolt P-47G That list doesn't amount to anything other than the fact it's easier to model and simulate when you have the real thing in your backyard. Hitler failed to mention that ;).
