  1. I think many of the fears expressed lately about DCS are reading too much into too little. Again, based on what little we know, not all products designed for DCS will be allowed to carry the DCS label. It depends on the level of quality. IRIS, for example, expressed interest in being allowed to use the DCS name for one of their aircraft. I forgot which, but it wasn't the F-22. That implies the F-22 will not be allowed to use the DCS name, even if it is a module for DCS World. Is the SU-25T really an exception? Perhaps not. I got the feeling that it was one of the more high-fidelity aircraft out of FC2. I would not be surprised if this plane gets a big overhaul as part of a commercial upgrade, similar in some ways to the Ka-50 going from BS1 to BS2. Ultimately I just don't see how more content can be bad for DCS World. I don't see "survey" quality content replacing EDs work, as they've made it pretty clear that they're interested in doing only the most detailed simulations. I think the best way to understand DCS now is as a combat-oriented counterpart to FSX and X-Plane 10. Third party products may vary in quality, but ultimately ED is most likely going to keep doing what they're doing by developing both the simulation environment and high fidelity aircraft. I welcome the third-party developers. I'm afraid all this nay-saying is going to drive them away, because they will be afraid no one will purchase their content. Is it better to have an IRIS F-22, however realistic they can make it, or absolutely no F-22 at all? I fail to see how not having the option can be a good thing, and fears that F-22s will dominate the skies in multiplayer are just absurd. If they do, it's entirely the community's fault for creating and hosting missions like that. I hope third-party development can fill the gaps that ED, with their limited resources, cannot. If ED never plans to make a Kiowa Warrior, but a third-party developer wants to, they shouldn't be discouraged just because they might not match the quality of A-10C. If it can take a realistic place in the sim and enhance the experience of other pilots flying alongside it, whether or not they're interested in it themselves, then why not?

  2. I'm not in front of the PC right now, so bear with me... Look in the main directory of your BETA 2 install for a folder called "theaters of war" There should be a subfolder inside called "Nevada" A simple copy paste job of the nevada folder into the theaters of war folder in whatever version you're running and should do it. ...remember, to load up Nevada you have to open the mission editor and create a new mission. That's when you get the option to chose your theater. Works wonderfully in DCS world atm

  3. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/series/combined_arms/ See the new web page. Near the bottom it states; To good to be true? Looking forward to putting this claim to the test. Hopefully we will all be happily surprised. ~S~

  4. I've been playing around with the axis sensitivity to suit both combat and refueling and gave up. But then i got the idea of adding a modifier ingame to my stick that would give me different axis sensitivities when held. The line from the LUA looks like this: {combos = {{key = "JOY_Y", filter = {saturationX = 1, saturationY = 0.85, deadzone = 0.02, invert = false, slider = false, curvature = {0.15}}}, {key = "JOY_Y", reformers = {"JOY_BTN20", }, filter = {saturationX = 1, saturationY = 0.5, deadzone = 0.02, invert = false, slider = false, curvature = {0.15}}}, }, action = iCommandPlanePitch, name = "Pitch"}, {combos = {{key = "JOY_X", filter = {saturationX = 1, saturationY = 1, deadzone = 0.02, invert = false, slider = false, curvature = {0.15}}}, {key = "JOY_X", reformers = {"JOY_BTN20", }, filter = {saturationX = 1, saturationY = 0.5, deadzone = 0.02, invert = false, slider = false, curvature = {0.15}}}, }, action = iCommandPlaneRoll, name = "Roll"}, everything can be done from the game, except for the sensitivity. The game can't differ between the axis wit the modifier and the normal one. So i opened the joystick file in NP++ and changed the sensitivity myself. The result is close to what happened in F4 when you opened the refuel thing. The red line is the axis with modifier and the blue is the changes the has to be done in NP++. Everything works as intended and i'm now able to stick with the tanker for as long as i want. My setup is a HOTAS WH and i used the APU as the modifier, I added other functions as trim, SB, and what other functions i needed with the modifier as well. Kinda cheating, but..:pilotfly:

  5. I did yes and thank you. I'm in a monogamous relationship with my A10-C right now so not having a Helicopter to fly is OK by me. She gets a little jelous when I look at other aircraft anyway.

  10. Kaiza has a point there... though I think it will be possible, if we get a DCS:CA v1.1.2.1 beta on initial release. If ED releases the beta with an "update" beta patch e.g. 1.1.2.2 we may have to wait for updated A-10C, BS2 and P-51D modules... though I doubt they will do it that way. It would spoil all the effort put into DCS:World and the modular system, wouldn't it? Any comments from the testers? Guess you guys already did a lot of patching, updating DCS:World and the modules? :D

  13. Yes but P51 could not be flown with the a-10 or BS on release... All i wanted to know is when we get this beta are we going to have to wait for more patches for the other modules or will it be compatible on beta release.

  16. Yes, it's redundant. There is a shared fluid tank, but it has a baffle in it so a leak in one side will not drain the fluid out of the other side completely.

  17. yes...ping (latency) is a function of the "distance" your packets have to travel and return. As an excersize, try this...get the ip address of your favourite servers Open up a command prompt , and type in "tracert 111.222.333.444" (where 111.222 etc is the IP adress of the server" and press enter. This will trace out the path, and the "length" in milliseconds of the various points that your packets have to transit to hit that particular server.. The fewer points, and lower the latency between them, the lower the overall latency should be.. anyways.. I think that the Stallturn server that Moa runs is in New Zealand, so, if you should get +/- 150ms pings to that?

  18. yep, geographic loaction of the sever matters for ping value, A LOT. but i wont be too worried. since DCSW is till kinda new and in BETA, im sure the number of DCSW severs will be increasing as time goes on.

  20. Weltensegler , you may want to chek this thread - Many workarounds are included in the links: A Plea for View-Export export/Multi-head users. - ED Forums Tip: subscribe to it , as we sure find many more. If this above is too much info at once for you - head this direction for instant help: moving the comms menu How to move the status bar? this might also come in handy -even if you are not a novice with it any more - as I will expand this guide in the coming days/weeks: Dummies Guide for the “MonitorSetup.lua“ And I promise to have a look at the "resources management window" at the weekend - I'm very sure it is as easy to do like with the comms/info-bar. (I bookmarked this thread and wrote myself a reminder in the calender)

  21. I got a simple workaround, EDIT following file: ... DCS World/Scripts/UI/RadioCommandDialogPanel/CommandMenu.lua Line 55: menuWidth = 280 Increase this number (its in pixels) and the menu will move to the left side. Example... I have main screen 1920 pixels wide and 800 pixels touchscreen to its right... so my menus now show on the touchscreen... when I increase this number from 280 to 1080 (adding the 800 pixels of the touchscreen) the menu shows 280 pixels over the main monitor... simple aye :D
