Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill
currenthill replied to currenthill's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Yep, that's always a risk of this happening when making very new and modern assets. I think the models I'm using for these new Chinese assets are very well made, and I know they are based on as recent reference materials that is available at that point, as I know the guy who takes a lot of the photos and provides reference material for the modeler. The plan is to add a lot of new Chinese assets, including aircraft. Stay tuned. -

Absolutely, donations are always very appreciated, since I still purchase a lot of models which will go into the mod packs. -

I'm actually enjoying making all these new Chinese assets, so it's definitely on my radar. -

Anything is possible, but as I describe in the FAQ, the assets added to the DCS core Currenthill Assets Pack need to meet a certain criteria as we try to make them as true to life as possible. For example, this means there has to be some sort of available specifications to the weapons added. But the general approach is that we have an open mind when choosing assets to include. This is also the reason I will keep working on the mod packs on the side, as I'll be able to add assets that doesn't fully meet the criteria. -

Not sure yet, but as it's a separate asset from the other HIMARS (and not only a weapon option, since that's hard to do in DCS), I might just keep it. My idea is to remove redundant/duplicated assets. -

We'll see, depending on how many assets I want to add. But I might release an update pretty soon, and then continue to add assets to the China pack, as I have plenty more to add. Probably not as ED is making the F-35. The files in the zip should overwrite the core files (that's why it can't go in the saved games folder). If you don't get an overwrite warning, they aren't in the correct place. This is the folder where they are located on my drive: F:\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common\Cockpit -

Is it one specific pack that's causing issues, have you tried any of my others? -

I'd say these are the most common issues: The smaller incremental update pack was installed instead of the complete pack (check sizes and filenames on my site). The pack was unzipped in the wrong folder. The user have other installed mods that conflict. -

Q2: Will all the assets from the Currenthill mod packs be added to DCS? A2: No. The library of new core assets are based off of the inventory of the Currenthill mod packs, but each asset are carefully chosen to be added to DCS. Each new core asset are implemented mostly from scratch to uphold a specific consistent standard of things like mesh and textures quality, animations, FLIR textures, LODs, destroyed models etc. -

Assets I create in collaboration with ED will have more advanced weapons, as they are made in collaboration with ED. This means ED can create new weapon schemes and configuration that fits the specific weapons, like the ATACMS. Besides these, I will still maintain the current mod packs, and create new assets for them, like the J-35 in the picture above. Since these assets are created by me outside of the ED collaboration, they won't have the same kind of advanced or new weapon configurations. -

As I said in the FAQ. I will primarily make sure the mods are still working. And I will most likely remove redundant assets, as they get introduced as new and updated versions in core DCS. But since I really enjoy creating assets for DCS, I will probably add new stuff to the mods also. -

Don't worry guys, it's not going to take years. It's more a matter of release schedules. There are a lot of new features, assets and modules continuously released into DCS. -

Yes. As I've tried to explain in my FAQ. I do this so that you don't have to download the Complete pack with every little update. To save both on the user download and the daily Google Drive transfer limit. But to make things easier, I've just updated all the Complete packs to the latest fixpack level. So for first-time users there is no need to download anything else than the Complete pack. -

Yep, thanks. I was made aware of this yesterday. The issue most likely because I was doing my testing of the mod packs in a different version of DCS. -

No release date set yet. There will definitely be information available when it's released. Thank you! You are perfectly correct. I have a couple of Chinese assets not yet released. They aren't completely done yet, but it would be a waste not to release them if they are almost finished. I will probably go back to the Chinese pack after the release of the core assets and see which additions can be made to the mod packs with light work. -

That's correct. But also, the new DCS core assets will be completely unique from the mod packs. So there will be no issues if you don't update the mod packs immediately. No conflicts between the core assets and mod packs. -
Hey guys! I thought I'd post the link to the video where Longshot did an interview with me.

The DCS core weapon scheme required a smaller change in the code. It's been fixed. I will release an incremental update for both the Ukraine and USA asset packs shortly. If you want to use it until then, replace this file. MiG-29MU2_ADM-160B.lua
